I am so impressed with Hotel Al Plan! It’s my second time here and it’s even better than before. Since my last stay, they built a rooftop swimming pool and added some new theme rooms - one of the new rooms has an airplane in it!!! There is so much creativity in every corner - the whole place is a museum! Vespas, clocks, coffee makers, musical instruments - it’s amazing. You have to see it for yourself. And the staff is so friendly and their English is great.

This is the hotel I want to visit more than once! Family hotel, different from all other i visited, it is museum hotel with so many beautiful antiquities. We were accommodated in the Ducati room, which is unique and has a wonderful view of the ski slope.

The roof pool surrounded by snow is certainly something that the hotel itself raises to another level, beautiful.
Sauna and wellness, for relaxation after skiing, and last but not least, the owners and staff were very friendly and kind.

We love Al Plan because it is close to the slopes, because Maurizio and Theodora have done such an amazing job in collecting all the quirky and original things they have, and because the food is simply to die for. Maurizio is a true wine connoisseur and the cellar is outstanding. Come here for a true culinary experience and it's only a two minute walk to the ski runs.

If you like small interesting hotels then this could well be for you. Not only is it quirky having its own museum but the hotel is full of collections of many things. A delightful small hotel with lovely owners and staff. We will definitely be back.

We stayed at this hotel in december 2010 and will be returning there this year. The occasion was the Italian ski season opening at Kronplatz, which is the ski resort this hotel caters for.

Maurizio and Theodora, the owners, work very hard to make their guests feel at home and do an excellent job. The hotel is one of the most authentic I have ever stayed, and is beautifully decorated and maintained, partially thanks to Maurizio´s (the owner´s) hobby for collecting old clocks, musical instruments, wines, etc.

Al Plan is situated only a two minute walk from the foot of the Miara ski run which opens up the vast Kronplatz ski resort. Distance to the village centre is about 5 minutes´walk.

The food here was absolutely fabulous. Breakfast is offered in buffet formula but coffee and tea are freshly brewed for each guest individually (hmmm... great cappucino from the gigantic espresso machine ). Dinners are usually a four-course menu served at the table (starter-soup-mains-dessert) but also include a salad buffet and a complimentary apéritif, not seldom prosecco or alike.

The choice of wines is vast and regionally oriented, which can only be applauded. Maurizio has a special wine-and-pool-room which operates as a bar during the day, and you should also explore the wine cellar downstairs where he has installed a special guest table to discover the more exclsuive wines.

The spa area, as the rest of the hotel, is exquisitely decorated but I could imagine it being somewhat small if the hotel is fully booked. Especially, the view towards the mountains is stunning while relaxing in the jacuzzi or lying in the lounge chairs. There were only 18 of us at the time so we were fine (I believe the hotel has a 60pax capacity).

It´s just great to see this kind of hotel being lovingly operated by their owners, and I have a soft spot for hotels where the accent is put on providing good service and cosy communal areas, instead of upping the rooms with all kinds of gizmos no one ever needs. Due to the rooms being just rooms, this hotel only has a 3-star classification, but the rest of the hotel and the service rendered should make this somewhere between 4 and 5 stars in my opinion.

A great stay and we hope to be back many, many times.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel, it's less than four stars, but personally I wouldn't even give it three, unless we appreciate the location and the view from the window, and that's only from the upper floors.
When we decided to ski in the Italian Dolomite Alps, we chose the Kronplatz ski resort. In the town of St. Vigil, we chose the four-star hotel Al Plane, which, as indicated, is about 200 meters from the pistes. Unfortunately, as often happens, also quite often in Italy, the stated distance of 200 meters to the lifts and/or tracks is measured only in a straight line from the hotel, but in reality walking down the street is at least 400-500 meters.
However, it may not be that important since the walking distance is not long, but lying and pretending to be "polite" is not a good trait, especially in Tyrol. In my opinion, the hotel is simply a beautifully packaged but artificial and low-quality product and nothing more. It's like a tasteless candy wrapped in pretty paper and placed on the front shelf. In my estimation, the hotel would attract max. two or two and a half stars, unless we appreciate not the whole, but the view from the room, the location and the cleanliness and order of the rooms, for which you can really praise the girls who clean the rooms.
Swimming pool and sauna. The hotel boasts a rather impressive-looking outdoor pool, but there is no sauna area near the pool, so after leaving the pool, you have to take the elevator down to the basement, where after a few corridors you get to the so-called spa area of this hotel. Basically, I never used this outdoor pool for this reason. Going down to the basement is the so-called spa area. The sauna is not big, although it is quite cozy. But calling it a sauna doesn't roll off the tongue. Probably due to too much frugality, the temperature in the "sauna" reached only 40-45 degrees and only after pouring water on the stones, it rose to 50-55 degrees for a few minutes, so I had to often go down the stairs and pour water on the stones to make it a little warmer. By the way, I had to pour the water into the bucket myself, it's good that there was still a bucket. The scents were also not left to add them to the water. Well, I haven't had to visit such a "bathhouse" yet, and I really hope I don't have to. Of course, there was also an infrared "sauna", or rather, a cabin for one person. There is also a jacuzzi in the so-called spa area, but it is only of domestic level, so it goes without saying that there is no benefit from it. Of course, there are also two showers to take a shower in, but they too are begging for an upgrade.
Fortunately, there was no shortage of towels.
Food. Unfortunately, there is a strange understanding of the food, there is a lot of it, but its quality is simply tolerable and would correspond to the level of a boarding house.
Of course, you can write a lot more in the review, how they tried to embellish the truth, etc., but it no longer makes sense, I would not recommend this hotel, unless someone likes not the candy itself, but the paper, not quality, but decoration, not natural communication, but pretending.

i have rarely been to an hotel where you feel so welcome, Theodora and her family makes you feel home and are so helpfull. Furthermore this is not an hotel as such, this is half an hotel half a museum, a place with a heart ! Forget more expensive hotels, this is a place with really great value for money and very close from city centre and from the ski lifts.
