Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

one of the best weeks ever! literally everything was perfect - location, beds, quality & variety of food, but most of all the people! Cristina and her staff are just about the nicest, friendliest, genuine and helpful people I've come across in any hotel. when you figure in the very reasonable prices, it can be rated as one of the great finds in the entire Alps. I will definitely find an excuse to come back. Bellissimo!!!

We came a long way for a ski vacation in the Dolomite Mountains and we chose the Alpine Hotel GRAN FODÁ as our base. The location of the hotel is just perfect in terms of both the incredible breathtaking scenery and views around as well as the proximity to the Ruis cable car which takes the skiers up to the Kronplats ski resort. The hotel is located few kilometers above the village of San Vigilio di Marebbe, in South Tyrol, Italy of course. The hotel itself is a new hotel with beautiful modern style and it is noticeable that the owner thought of every detail. The hotel is clean and tidy all over. Our room was spacious, very cosy, very clean and the ski room was just across the hall. The hotel stuff and among them Cristina the owner, Anuk, Angelo were all very friendly, inviting and they work hard to make our stay pleasant. Dinner is very varied rich with 5 courses chef meal. Every day is a different surprise worth waiting for. Vegetables are always served. Breakfast is very rich and the dining room is beautifully decorated watching directly to the enormous mountains through huge panorama windows. We loved it. We are so happy that we chose that hotel, we had the best ski vacation and we would love to come back.

A beautiful Hotel, Lots of wood glass, great views of the mountains and Milky Way. The room was beautifully decorated in gray and beige tones, lovely material, beds were really comfortable. Bathroom New and very clean. All amenities available. We ate half- board and the dinner was delicious and table set beautifully. Wonderful wine card, priced fairly, dessert was amazing. We walked to the cable car up to Corones. UNFORTUNATELY no discount for the ride. Plentiful parking, cool e-bikes available. A bit isolated but very nice and accomodating hosts.. great service,, nice library and info brochures to help get to know the region.. would gladly go back for a special treat.

THANK YOU to Christina and the team! This is our second time in Gran Foda and we had again the greatest stay. This is our favorite place in the Dolomites. The service is fantastic, same staff as couple of years ago, and they still remember us. Super careful and accommodating, with focus on the client's needs and experience. The food is first class, different menus and selection every day - great pleasure to enjoy. The hotel is super comfortable, small and cozy. Great attention to detail. Cleaning everyday. The views are amazing and it has the greatest atmosphere. For skiers it's great, literally on the slopes, in-and-out, close to everything. Easy to reach by car. Thank you and look forward to coming back next year!

When we booked the hotel we weren’t sure whether or not to book the half board option but at the end of our week long stay we can say whole heartedly that it was a good thing to have done so. The evening dinners were AMAZING each and every night and this included catering for 2 children and a vegetarian. As per the other reviews I echo the comments regarding the great selection of wines on offer too. A lot of love and affection goes into all the detail in this hotel. Not just the food and wine but the service and the general cleanliness of the hotel. I have to say the overall experience was faultless. We stayed in a family room which was a very comfortable size and kept immaculately by the hotel. The location of the hotel itself was why we chose it to start with and it was a pleasure to be able to ski in and ski out each day. Being located in the middle of the top of Kronplatz and Furcia makes it effortless to reach all the nearby pistes and beyond. If you get the chance to stay then you’ll be lucky 🍀

Easy to reach by car, ski in and ski out to the lift (50m away). Lots of fun for kids after skiing. Rooms are comfortable and furnished as all local mountain houses (very nice). Food is excellent, exceptional. Good choice of wines and liqueurs in the bar. This is our third time to stay here. Staff is friendly and attentive. It’s 6km to village St Vigilio Di Marrebe , there you have couple of supermarkets and restaurants, but they all close early (8 pm if I’m not mistaking). Slopes - enough for everybody (beginners and “pros”). You can also buy ski pass for Alta Badia, but Kronplatz is far more better than that. Brunico is a charming little town, the opposite side of St Vigilio, don’t miss it if you can.

Stayed for seven days for skiing. We flew to Bergamo and rented a car for the 4hour drive from the airport. The hotel is located high in the mountains. Because of the latitude, the last 10 km from San Virgilio is a difficult mountain road, that is very narrow and has sharp turns. Be prepared for some careful driving. The hotel is close to the slopes and the cabin lift Ruis. The slope number 12 (red) let’s you ski into the hotels heated ski storage room. If you prefer slope number 9 (blue) it is 5 minutes walk after skiing down. The lift up (Ruis) is 4 minutes walk. The rooms are amazing. Brand new, well equipped and super organized. Raw pine wood all over the place. From our room on the 2nd floor, we had a balcony with view over the slopes and the mountains. The rooms are ultra clean as well as the common parts of the hotel. Most of the time I didn’t even wore my shoes. Staff is very kind and has the time to care for each of the guests. Our opened bottles (wine or water) was stored until we wished to continue drinking them. Food was very fair priced. We payed €30 for a big evening menu with more food and courses than we could eat. The food was great. All food came with local wine recommendations that was very high standard. All in all, my best hotel stay I’ve ever had. All my recommendations.

The location is dreamed, everyday you have a different show from nature at the terrace bar or at your room balcony in the middle of Kronplatz slopes. The gastronomy has an excellent combination of Italian, international and traditional food made with local ingredients and the servise is made with love and care by the owners in a brand new building full of cosy and stylist details. I highly recommend it to people that love hiking, biking and relaxing in summer and snow sports in winter.
