Enjoyed a lovely weekend at Lake Kegonsa in early August. Our site was nicely wooded and there was plenty of room for multiple tents and vehicles. The rangers were very helpful and the park staff did a great job keeping things nice (we reported an issue in the restroom and it was promptly taken care of). The rangers do patrol...

If you're visiting Madison for UW events or the plethora of festivals / conferences that go on, chances are you're finding lodging to be maxed out and overpriced. If you're looking for an escape from Madison or the suburbs, but didn't reserve Devils Lake 8 months in advance, you're probably looking for somewhere to overnight it. The solution, Lake Kegonsa...

We live in Stoughton, the town which Lake Kegonsa SP is just outside. Although we seldom camp here, we consider it to be a gem of a resource for us. In the winter the crock-country ski trails are consistently well maintained and offer great skiing for skate and classic skiing. Other seasons we come out here to hike and/or walk...

We camped in our trailer at Lake Kegonsa for one night on our way from Louisville to Minneapolis. The camping spots were lovely, tucked into the forest with lots of trees. The campground is quite far off the main road, so for a while I was wondering if we were going the right way! But it was quiet lovely when...

Reserved for two nights. Left after first night. Lake Kegonsa is dirty and the park has a very limited shore line. A dead Racoon li next to boat ramp. They charge an additional $10 day fee. I asked if my Nephew could pick me up for a golf outing..they said he wouldn't be charged to pick me up. Not true...

We camped here for 3 nights over Columbus Day weekend. The park was full with campers despite it being late in the season. The sites were wooded and nice sized. The other campers were considerate and kept the noise down. There was a train that went by several times a day with the whistle blowing, but we didn't have a...

I realize a screaming child cannot be prevented, but irritating nonetheless. I feel the DNR or campground hosts should have addressed this issue. The bathroom/shower building's floor was consistantly wet and muddy...a huge slip hazard. When we arrived in our site, it had several broken bottles on the ground. Again, camp hosts should have cleaned this up!! Our site was...

Our site (#55) had plenty of privacy as it was fully wooded. It looks like most of the sites have a lot of privacy. The site was plenty deep for our 23 foot travel trailer plus our vehicle and still left room for the kids to play. The site was all gravel so it would have been nice to have...

First time camping at Kegonsa. We had toured the park and campground about a month before to find sites we liked. When booking the site it showed only a few sites available but when we got there we noticed they had not opened a section and that was the section we had wanted to camp in. I've seen much larger...

Our site was not as promised for someone handicapped! We were harrassed for using the handicap bathrooms by other campers and the rangers did not care. The beach was small and the water is dirty. The bugs were overwhelming for a state park. I would not recommend this park when there are so many other beautiful state parks.

“This is not a hotel it is a campground..poorly run by the state..More expensive with less hookups than the nearby private campgrounds. Does not honor National park pass nor any cards..dreadful place.”
