Staying at Pomaika'i Lucky Farm was thoroughly enjoyable experience. The owners were extremely hospitable and it was really nice to spend time in a rural area. However, it's important to note that this may not be for everyone. Number 1: it's a farm first and a B&B second. They have chickens and roosters roaming freely, and so expect there to...

Staying at the Lucky farm was a unique experience and if we have the chance to come back to Hawaii, we'll definitely come back there! It's true, the kitchen is a bit small and not so functionnal but well... you'll probably not prepare a 5 star dinner, so it's more than enough. Yes, the mosquitos will chase you and the...

Yes, almost everything people tell here is true: the roosters waiking you up, the mosquitos eating you alive and JP giving monologues all breakfast long. But the breakfast is the best (never seen such a fruit platter, and they do it every morning! and the coffee!!! and the cooked breakfast!!! and everythin is REALLY organic), everything they do is well...

I have mixed opinions of the place. You will be staying literally in a farm. The rooster will wake you couple an hour before dawn. There's crazy amount of mosquitos but we were fine after brought the candles. We even left an extra candle for the next guest. The room was okay. It was very old school Hawaiian if you...

This is a nice location, close to good local food and excellent snorkeling with nice beaches close by. The host is kind and prepares a nice breakfast. The room is in a tin roof shed with screened openings. The farm doesn't appear to have had any work done in the last ten years but despite that the mature trees have...

This place is the rustic hawaiian fantasy. Best place we stayed in 3 weeks on all islands (including places that were 600+/night). The owners are CHARMING. And so knowledgable. They taught me so much at breakfast which was insane. The fruit. The hot cereal. The coffee FROM RIGHT THERE! I just loved it.

Do not expect New England-ish B&B with antique furniture and doilies all over. The room is Spartan and rustic and very clean. Only a mosquito net separates you from the birds and coqui frogs, roosters wake you up in the morning. Don't be scared if you hear thumping on the roof - it's one of many adorable cats on the...

We stayed here about 10 years ago, when the place was run by other innkeepers, and it was great. But the new owners are not keeping it up; altho the rooms were clean, everywhere else is piled with discarded junk. Holes in the stairs, etc. They are not controlling the domestic animals and since the rustic lodgings just have screens...

We thoroughly enjoyed all of our stay at Lucky Farm B&B. The quirky coffee barn cottage surrounded by banana trees with its the private ‘outside shower’ was exactly what we were looking for as relaxing get-away-from-it-all time on the Big Island. We enjoyed Johnsie’s great breakfasts (with bags to take the leftover fruits for lunch!) and the music and commentary...

OK so I plagiarized that from another review, but it gets right to the heart of what makes Lucky Farm praiseworthy. Yes, you need industrial-strength earplugs to sleep through the night, what with the cats pouncing on critters on the roof, branches scraping across the roof (the underside of the corrugated roofing panels is exposed to the room below, so...
