We stayed there for three days in May 2011. The owners, Daniel and Susi, were so nice. We loved their huge husky, Tara, too. Daniel and Susi made excellent breakfasts, but I mostly remember the waffles and great, local coffee. Daniel also helped us purchase some local coffee that would have been difficult to secure elsewhere. For the first two...

We stayed here for two days as a base for Volcano National Park at the end of our trip to Hawaii, and I wish we had spent more time here and less time on the west side of the island. Susi and Daniel were wonderful hosts and the architecture of the house is just so cool. The setting is very...

My Husband and I were fortunate enough to fly to this beautiful island for our honeymoon in 2011 (sorry better late than never to write the review we figure). We had planned only a couple nights at Da Log House while we toured the island however, due to the warm welcome we received from the hosts, Susi and Daniel, we...

Somewhere half way between Keaau Village and Volcano, for some days in the area da Log House is a happy medium: Good located to spot S-E of that big Island, embedded in a really green enviroment and lush gardens, this B&B offers just two guestrooms, both in the main house quasi door to door with owners. Upstairs room was medium...

We appreciate your thoughtful review. Our location between Hilo and the volcano does make it easy to travel to both destinations and we are also close to Pahoa and Kalapana. We hope you enjoyed the other parts of the Big island as well. Mahalo.

Rooms and location are way above expectations! Daniel and his wife are the friendliest hosts, we enjoyed ourselves so much! It is a very personal place to stay. Even though the property is accessed by dirt roads, follow the instructions on the owners' webpage and print out the map to find the spot! Once there, it is beautiful and quiet.

I spent 9 nights at Da Log House in late February on a geocaching vacation on the big island. My first trip in on the typically-Hawaiian narrow roads was exciting, but I love locations that are slightly remote, especially in a tropical setting. Never fear, everything is modern, clean, and comfortable at Da Log House. Danny and Susie and Tara...

Excellent hospitality and accommodation. Clean, comfortable room - loved the deck and great breakfasts. Daniel and Susie were outstanding hosts, very informative and helpful. Enjoyed learning what I could about Hawai'i in the two days I stayed there. Just about right in the middle between Hilo and Volcano, making both areas very accessible. A solid value. Mahalo.

“They have two rooms since I am by myself I just stay in the smaller room with one bed for two people. They have a larger room that can accommodate multiple people upstairs.”

“Like other places we stayed at in Hawaii, the only potential drawback is the non-traditional bathroom configuration separating the bedroom from the bathroom. We implemented the "cone of silence" rule and just rolled with it. This may bother some folks, but we didn't want to stay at a big-name chain hotel and so we adapted to the unique set-up. And, I believe, there are rooms that have options for a separate, shared bathroom.”
