This woman manages several houses, in addition to her own, at reasonable prices. The 3-bedroom house we rented was spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast at the main house was unexpectedly yummy and generous. Included were coffee/tea, bananas, papaya, strawberries, Belgian waffles, sausage and scrambled eggs. Most importantly, it was a true B&B with warm and friendly hosts. Apparently, the... More

Traveled all the way from the other side of the island to visit wonderfully cool Volcano, HI. It's how locals escape the heat of Kailua Kona, where I live. As usual I was treated to a delightfully cozy 2 bedroom house with fireplace and Jacuzzi tub, set in the exotically beautiful tree ferns forest. Joan, your hostess during the stay,... More

We enjoyed the stay in this cosy place. The Breakfast was tasty with fresh fruits. We got a lot of insider tips, this was very helpful to plan our journey on big island. We would come back again - Thank you very much. It was a pleasure to stay there.

We stayed at the Country Goose B&B for 2 nights. We arrived at Hilo airport (from Maui) in the morning and used the day to explore Pahoa and the interesting and beautiful coastal roads. We had plenty of time to get to get to our B&B by 4:00 pm. Our room was clean, cosy and comfortable. It is a bit... More

We needed a place to stay near the Volcanoes National Park after a day exploring there, and Country Goose was very convenient (about 5 minutes away). Joan was very nice, and the heated blankets on the bed were awesome (it gets pretty chilly at night!). Unfortunately we had to leave early the next morning to catch a flight from Hilo... More

We spent three nights in the queen room at Country Goose BNB run by the lovely Joan. Everything was great. The bed was soft and comfy. There is a gas log fire in the room for chilly nights. Plenty of hot water. Joan cooks a great breakfast. Her waffles are fantastic complete with berries and whipped cream. Eggs and sausage... More

Recommended to us by Bed and Breakfast Hawaii, we found this a pleasant green oasis in Volcano Village. The village is very spread out and the house is in the private Moana Loa estates and is well hidden away. There is private parking and the locale is very quiet. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and a small... More

We stayed four nights in the Hale O'mao Cottage in the middle of the rainforest. The cottage is nicely decorated and has big windows to see all the ferns and other plants. We loved to use the fireplace. The kitchen is really well equiped. So we could even make our own fruit smoothies with fruits from the local farmers market... More

Located in a rainforest-like garden, this B&B in Volcano Village offers anything you desire. Its Queen room is furnished lovely, comfortable with separate access from the outside. Due to the calm neighborhood, one can just relax and enjoy. Joan, the friendly and most likable host, serves a vast, fresh 'no-lunch-breakfast'. Just a two-minutes-drive from restaurants in Volcano Village and about... More

“It is a bit difficult to navigate the route between Hilo & Volcano in the dark. The street signs are at best hard to see ( if indeed they weren't missing) and many names are similar in sound & spelling. Our GPS wasn't any help, having lost it's satellite connex. Once you find your way, it's easier if you've paid attention!”
