Our last stop in Maui, after spending a few nights in other places on the west side of the island, was Ekena in Hana, and it could not have been more perfect. We stayed there for three nights, enjoying every sunrise and sunset, the amazing view, cooking in the well stocked kitchen, and exploring every inch of Hana and its... More

We had the pleasure of calling Ekena home for 4 days in August 2016. It was a fabulous home stocked with beach gear, cooking equipment, and privacy. We spent most of our time cooking meals on the barbeque and relaxing on the lanai, which happens to wrap around the entire backside of the home. I had the pleasure of enjoying... More

Aloha Nicole, We really appreciate your wonderfully descriptive review, including the magic that can happen on our lovely wraparound deck. Watching the ever moving and changing weather is so fascinating from such a vast perspective. We hope that you and your friends can return for more time on the deck and revisiting the places you enjoy around Hana. Mahalo, Robin More

Hana has a piece of our hearts and we can't wait to come back! When we do, we'll stay here at Ekena and it will definitely be for more than 3 days (their minimum length of stay). The rooms were clean, the hospitality was top notch, and the views were breathtaking. Not that Hana is an overly bustling town but... More

We stayed in Ekena in mid-April for 3 nights. We had a hard time driving to Hana with all the curvy and narrow road but when we reached Ekena, it was so worth it! There is no cell reception here but our Garmin worked, it took us right on the gate. The wi fi works. The place is up on... More

If you plan to visit Hana, and you definitely should, don't just do the to-and-fro road to Hana drive in one day. I honestly don't know how people do that. No, you'll want to stay there and savor its lushness, its tranquility, the feeling it gives you that you really have been transported to a different place and time. And... More

Aloha Pier, and mahalo for this wonderful review. You obviously were undaunted by the rain and I am very happy that you enjoyed your time in Hana so much. Ekena was designed to let you experience the outdoors while indoors, so there are lots of glass doors and windows. You can see for miles and the view is always changing!... More

First time staying here...4 nights flew by...booked 7 for next year! We love Hana. We find the people, the pace, the beaches, the papayas and mangoes just the place to unwind from living near San Francisco, which we love too! We found the Jasmine Suite to be perfect! Huge for two people with using one bedroom! Great room is exactly... More

There are two environments on Maui. Th hustle and bustle of the West Side and the regression from the 21st century to the tranquil and laid back life of the East Side. Hana is not for everyone. If you need shopping, night life, traffic congestion (other than the Hana Highway), and an unban lifestyle similar to most tourist destinations, Ekena... More
