This review has a quick background info, then pros of stay and cons. I was actually booked to stay at the sister property Makani Sands, but they had messed up the reservation (which was done 8 months ago), and were booked up when I called the day before to confirm my stay. The manager there, Marie, was great at making... More

The views from the lanais are simply amazing and the sunsets are incredible! The staff is great! Very warm and welcoming! Debbie checked us in on arrival and offered tips on local fare, things to do, helped us arrange several activities during our stay, and even invited us to their Friday night pupu party! (A rare treat!) She was really... More

We went to this place only for 2 nights but enjoyed it. We had a cozy flat with nice ocean views and it was fully equipped! It was not noisy, so the quality of your sleep is fine. The receptionist is very kind and helpful. The only negative thing for us was that there was again an extra service charge... More

Thank you for coming back to the Kulakane again and again! That is the best compliment you can give us. The beaches, the turtles, and the amazing views and the things that our guests enjoy the most. Mahalo for the kind words! More

We stumbled upon this property by accident and so glad we did. The price was right for the week. The 3rd floor condo had the best views. Period. We only ate out twice during the week because why would we pay to eat out for a sunset view when we had one on our lanai? Debbie and Tony are excellent... More

Mahalo Michelle for staying with us! And we agree that our views are the BEST on the island! So many of our guests end up grilling on our bbq's and eating on the lanais so they can enjoy that great sunset view. And thank you for your comments about the trade winds and your comfort level in the condo. We... More

The Kulakane was exactly what we wanted for our stay on Maui (we spent 5 nights, then went to Oahu). We wish we could have taken the Kulakane with us to Oahu! The complex is perfectly small (not like the resort hotels with hundreds of people) and everyone we encountered there was friendly. We enjoyed being able to make our... More

First I admit to being a repeat visitor to the Kulakane. The views are the best in Maui unless you have something against the islands of Molokai and Lanai and the sun setting between them every night. The building is a bit old which is part of the appeal for me. To me it represents "old Hawaii" but most of... More

All condos face the ocean. Morning coffee and evening drinks on the lanai are our favorite times of the day. There is nothing more glorious that watching the sunsets each evening. January - March are the best for whale watching. From our lanai we can see the whales' daily activities. Binoculars unnecessary!

My family of 6 checked out of Unit #311 today after a week of pure bliss! The Kulakane is located a little further up the road from some busier (more crowded) resorts. The condo is big enough to offer space for 6 people to comfortably relax and enjoy time there. Views off the lanai were incredible-we saw whales and turtles... More
