Perfect accommodation for any length of stay. I was delighted to see a kitchenette and shopped immediately for a nice breakfast to cook in our room! No frills or pretentiousness, under the trees, quiet and ensconced away from rt 3. Deer walk through the woods as you wash dishes and look out the window. The beach is a short walk... More

This property is average at best. The rooms are small and very outdated. It isn't even that inexpensive. There are other properties very close to it that are just as inexpensive. The staff is not very responsive and the units are in great need of repair.

We loved staying at Hanscom's! We were looking for a pet-friendly location to go on vacation and we were glad we choose this place! The room was immaculate and the staff was super friendly and accommodating to our pooch. Perfect location outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown Bar Harbor. If you are looking to head downtown, the Island... More

For us, taking a family vacation means traveling with 3 dogs. Things get complicated. We are very grateful for establishments like Hanscom's that allowed us all to stay and was also clean and comfortable. We didn't have to mess about with a checkin process; employees were busy cleaning and we could just let ourselves into the room. We stayed a... More

Wanted a simple, inexpensive, pet friendly spot to spend the night with our two standard poodles while checking out Acadia. Our room, 11, was spotless, with homey bed linens and good frig/ freezer combo. If you want a hotel, stay in a hotel. Hanscoms offers a bit of old Maine with updated options. But bring your own hair dryer.

Having a pet and needing a place to stay in busy Bar Harbor was so much easier with our stay at Hanscom Cottages. We could not have been more pleased with the little cottage that the bed was comfy, a little kitchenette and everything was clean. I believe my pet was $10 more. We brought the dog bed with us... We just spent a week at Hanscom's and had a very enjoyable stay. Our room was clean and cozy, nice and warm when the weather turned cold and rainy. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. It's a very quiet area this time of year but towns and shopping are very close. It was exactly what we needed.... More

My husband and I stayed at Hanscom's for a few days. Jennifer was very helpful and friendly. She told us things to do in the area. She let us know that if we needed anything just give her a call. We liked that they accept pets since we like to travel with our dog.

My wife and I went to Mount Desert Island without a hotel reservation during a recent vacation (September, 2015); it was Thursday (not the weekend), but still we worried that we might not find any lodging. Hanscom's happened to have one opening, and are we ever glad we found them! Although they were just a short distance off that busy... More

Needed a pet friendly place to stay in bar harbor and this is very pet friendly. The walk to the water was a bit longer then expected, but not bad. The room is cozy and clean. The outside seating was fine, just OK for me. There is lots of traffic noise from route 3. There are a few great restaurants... More
