We stayed at the Rex for a week as our first stop off in a trip around the US. Upon arrival the staff were friendly, and throughout our stay were always welcoming and helpful. The hotel certainly has a theme throughout (see the many pictures) and the rooms stay true to this. So if you're not a fan of period...

I stood at the Hotel Rex in October 2016 for a quick getaway. I was charmed by the hotel's cozy atmosphere (you really do just want to curl up with a good book here) and free wine in the evenings. While I could be dismissed as a boozy millennial for highlighting that as an advantage, solo travelers could use free...

Hotel, staff, restaurant and bar fantastic if a little quirky. Couldn't have chosen a better location (just up from Union Sq) for a fantastic five day stay in San Francisco. Staff couldn't have been more helpful & friendly. Rooms were of a decent size & clean and were serviced everyday. No grumbles at all and would stay again and again.

I stayed at Hotel Rex a couple of weeks ago on s work trip. Excellent location and free wine in the afternoon. Beyond that, not really much going for it at all. Room: tiny, and with a view of a brick wall. The bathtub was slightly dirty and with cracks in it. Service: the front desk folks were pretty spaced...

This hotel is typical of many of the boutiques you find scattered throughout the city. Absolutely nothing wrong with the property as it comes in squarely in the center of the rating scale. It's a good alternative to the egregiously overpriced hotels found in the city center, but don't expect a lot more than a place to hang your hat...

We stayed for 8 nights in this boutique style old hotel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is about 5 blocks up from the start of the cable car on Market Street up a rise and is close to groceries and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a self service laundromat a block...

We would love to have you back so you can enjoy one of our quieter off the street rooms. Thank you for your genuine feedback. Regards, Dustin Kabai Assistant General Manager

First impressions were good, very friendly and helpful at reception. Corridors need better lighting to counteract the brown walls. Room was on the small side, but comfortable. Enjoyed the free wine at happy hour, but only limited food was available.

I am currently writing this from one of the rooms although I shall await leaving to post it. As I look around at the dimly lit, drearily decorated and extremely dated room around me, I wonder where it all went so wrong. This hotel could be exactly what it is advertised as, a quirky 30's style hotel with a unique...

Hotel is well located near Union Square. Staff was nice and helpful. Nice happy hour in the afternoons. Room was generally nice but a little dated. The only downside was the air conditioning. I like to sleep with AC, and the room only had a window unit. The unit as quite noisy, and since it is situated in the window...

The hotel is a little old and dated but clean and good quality linen, a must for me. Great location near union square and if you catch the train (Bart) to Powell stop, you can just walk up the road to the hotel. Walk to Union square to jump on a cable car or a bus. Certainly not luxury of...
