This hotel is conveniently located , and is nicer than average for similar hotels in San Francisco. Overall its somewhat basic but they have a great Italian restaurant onsite which brings it up a notch from typical 3 star hotels in San Francisco

We stayed there 3 days. Our room was cleaned & tidy. They serve a small breakfast on each floor in the the hallway which was very good. The hotel is close to good restaurants, downtown about 3 blocks. Staff was extremely helpful too. They also have newspapers in the lobby for

I visited The Andrews for a business trip in December. Check-in was fine, however my room was filthy. There was actually a dirty towel closed up in my shower curtain. When I went down to report it to the receptionist, he accused me of lying. Thankfully, I was only staying one

First the good; the staff are wonderful. They do everything in their power to make up for the physical plant. Where do I start on the bad? The hotel was built over 100 years ago and the rooms look it. No air conditioning, and the walls are hot from some sort of hot piping going

why te daily deposito ?
I travel a lot with work and have gotten used to the daily deposit process at the hotels I stay at. I agree it is a pain as the hold is not taken off for 4 or 5 business days, it just seems to be a pretty common practice. I do make a point of checking my credit card online each night to ensure it is the amount they stated, not more etc. and to make sure it comes off.

They took a record/swipe of my Visa card for any future damage or extras but no cash was required. But it may differ from guest to guest. But it definable won't be a nightly deposit for 5, 6 or 7 nights.

The elevator is kind of small, so it is better to check out the door clearance comparing to the mobility scooter in question.

Expect a clean, rather small and slightly worn room, but nice atmosphere and it should have what you need. In my experience this is classic SF hotel style, to be expected, outside of the larger international hotel chains. It is really a choice of style you make as a visitor. Hotel staff seems friendly and helpful, so I concur you should call in advance or ask for a room at the back and on the higher floors if available.

"The quieter floors are probably away from Post Street."
"The suite we had was sunny but ridiculously small. There is no air conditioning."
"Stay out of Andrews - Overpriced - not clean - noisy- needs total refurbishing"
"if nothing else is available and you want Union Square proximity - it will do."
"The lift is small, if it breaks down it's a hassle. Good location for exploring. Breakfast is unconventional but generally good."
