The hotel is very well located if you intend to visit SF and the area. We spent 4 nights there and the room was very quiet and comfortable. The breakfast is great and is included. The personnel was very professional. The only caveat is a quite expensive parking.

Just returned from 6 nights spent in this great hotel. The bedoom was spacious and the bed was really comfortable. Had a few concerns regarding the breakfast after reading some previous comments, but we had no issues. Breakfasts were great, loads of choice and we never had any issues getting a table. Some people were taking theirs back to their rooms, but we never felt the need to do so.

The hotel is situated in a good position, just a short walk to Pier 39 (although personally we found this to be a bit too commercialised) and the old trams terminate just a couple of blocks away.

Seeing many homeless people around was upsetting, although we were never bothered by any.

Having someone to help you with booking trips/excursions in the hotel foyer was a great idea and we took advantage of her expertise to book a day to the wine region. She (sorry cant remember her name) also gave us vouchers for several restaurants in the area which helped us to save a little money.....and every little helps as it is very expensive.

The only thing I would change about the hotel is to have a bar....however we visited the bar across the road each evening for a drink before bed.

Overall a great holiday, and missing it already!

Good location with 5 minute walk to Fisherman's Wharf. Cafes and restaurants next door. Friendly helpful staff. Room size adequate, with enough hanging space. Clean, tidy. Only a view of a carpark. Air con adequately heated the room, but was too loud to leave on overnight, so we set to highest level before sleeping, then switched off, room stayed warm enough till morning. Asked for blankets and received quickly, but they are so thin. Buffet breakfast has small range of food (just a few items gluten free).

When we first arrived at the Holiday Inn Express we were greeted by Brandy at the front desk. We really appreciated her enthusiasm and she booked us in with no problems. Too often when traveling , even at some nice resorts we find the employees at the front desk no so friendly or helpful , but Brandy made the whole check in experience very pleasant. There was also filtered water with cucumbers at the front desk. Very refreshing. There was easy access to computers to print em or boarding passes.
Our room was very clean. Other employees at the front desk as well as house keeping were also very friendly. The breakfast buffet had many item to choice from including a vegetarian omelet , turkey and pork sausage , yogurt, pancakes, three different juices, hot and cold cereal and some pastry. The second day of our stay they added bacon. The location was very close to the Fisherman's wharf and North Beach. We would defiantly stay here again.

We took an uber from the airport and it was quite convenient.
Hotel is close to a cable car stop, few grocery stores and is walking distance to Pier 39, Pier from where Alcatraz Island ferry leaves and 20minutes to Lombard street. We took an uber to get to Golden gate bridge and also mostly took an uber back in the evening as the uphill walk was tiring especially at the end of a long day of sightseeing.
We signed up for the hotel membership and were greeted very warmly at check-in. We also got given a room on the 4th floor (highest) as its reserved for hotel members only. Room was good size, spacious bathroom and there was a safe in the room as well. We got free wi-fi in our room. Breakfast was included in the price and was really good. Parking is quite expensive so we used Uber and on the last day hired a car to go to Napa valley.
Staff was very helpful and welcoming also.
Overall very good value for money and happy with our stay at Holiday Inn Express.

This hotel is easy walking distance to Lombard Street, Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square, Little Italy, and the Wharf (and 2 blocks from a Starbucks!) Hotel is secure, and even though we arrived at about 10:30 am - they were able to secure our luggage so we could start exploring and called an hour later saying our room was ready. Try to not get a 2nd floor room over the street - there were several deliveries in the night and a couple people arguing. The room does have a fan setting so you can try to drown out some noise. We didn't have any issues with hallway noise. As of June 2021, there is still just a grab and go breakfast (yogurt, cereal, cereal bars, juice, coffee), but we could see that they had a great buffet normally.

I did my research and glad we landed on this hotel. As many have said, the staff is super friendly (actually all of NorCal is!) - upon arrival Joseph was very welcoming, the cleaning staff was too. Not sure if there is any ownership involved but these are long time employees who actually appear to enjoy their jobs. Makes a huge difference in the day to day. Much appreciated and not too common these days.

Breakfast was good, saves you from needing to find a separate place before starting your day. Masks are enforced and signs asking non vaccinated guests to take food back to room.

If you're looking for a hotel close to MANY of the tourist attractions, willing to walk, and the weather is nice, you can survive without a car here for a day or two.

TIP - Park using the Spothero website or app. We paid about $45 for 36 hours at a covered garage about 0.3 miles away

Stayed here recently for 3 nights. Arrived after midnight one the first night and check in was easy. The hotel is in a great location in Fisherman's Wharf area, a couple of blacks back from the water. Close enough to the action but far enough to be quiet at night. The included breakfast is great for starting the day. Cereal, bread, bagels etc. as well as pancakes and other hot food (the days we were there we had scrambled eggs, sausages, turkey sausage). All breakfast drinks you can think of. We were there on a weekend so it got quite busy but we always found a seat. Noticed some people taking brekkie up to their room also.
The room was just a room but it was clean and large enough for a couple with luggage. I would definitely stay here again for the location and the option of having breakfast in the lobby.

We really enjoyed the location! San Francisco is a small city geographically. It's roughly 7 miles x 7 miles and so walking to see the different neighborhoods, sites and shops is the BEST way to go in my opinion, although be prepared to climb some hills! Couple of things to know: traffic is crazy and parking is expensive! The ONLY parking at the hotel is valet parking at $55 a day during our stay, your price may vary. When we arrived the lot was full so we had to park elsewhere. I'd recommend the Anchorage Square Garage just around the corner from the hotel at Jones & Beach Street. You can get an overnight hotel guest discount if you email the manager ahead of time. We paid $45/day. The biggest advantage in using the valet parking is that it is more secure, but we didn't experience any issues. Second thing is breakfast or lack thereof. We stayed end of May beginning of June 2021 and California was just coming out of severe COVID restrictions. Breakfast was a bag of pre-packaged muffins, a Nutri-grain bar and a drink. We opted to eat breakfast elsewhere. Lastly the room. Being a family of five we really wanted some room to spread out. Even the largest rooms here are cramped for five: two queen sized beds and a small couch. Not much of a "suite" in my opinion. Hope this was helpful.

We found the hotel to be in a very convenient location. We walked everywhere from the hotel. It was also easy to take the streetcar to the BART to get to the airport at the end of our stay. (It took about an hour.)

The rooms were updated, but fairly small. They included a mini-fridge which was nice. They had no microwave, but we did see one in the room with the ice machine. There was a desk and chair with convenient outlets (even international plugs) on the desk. They had large size soap/shampoo/conditioners in the shower, which were more convenient than the little bottles.

The things that could be improved: There was no chair/sofa in the room other than the desk chair, no luggage holders (had to put suitcases on the floor), no hair dryer and for some reason the tp holder is under the sink and across from the toilet. It's very awkward to use (especially if you have short arms).

The fitness room was minimal (2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, 1 bike and some free weights). The room was very small, and the tv's on the treadmill kept cutting in and out which was pretty frustrating.

Breakfast did not have their signature cinnamon rolls, which was disappointing. It included scrambled eggs, sausage links, cereal, bagels/bread, and some fruit (bananas and apples). It was kind of disappointing that they served the exact same thing every day. I was hoping they would at least rotate the types of eggs and meats, as they do at other hotels. There were no waffles or anything like that either. They also need better signs near the trash/compost/recycling. Everyone was confused on where to put their items. It would be helpful to have a sign with the items that they are providing, and where they go. What items are compostable, are the plates, napkins, cups, etc.? Reading the generic sign is not helpful. Most people just threw everything into one bin, because they didn't know what to do.

Also note, that this hotel has a $20+ resort fee. I'm not sure why. There were no extra amenities that were provided. The valet parking is $60/day!!! There are other lots nearby that are less, though I'm not sure about the security there. Don't bring a car, if you don't have to do so that's for sure!

Collegeville, Pennsylvania
Hello, is this hotel walkable (with luggage) to the cruise terminal?
Answer from Sally H
It would be a good 15-20 mins walk with luggage. However you could easily catch the tram which is about 2 mins around the corner. Though I do not know what rules they have regarding luggage. It would a flat walk as the hotel is is not in a particularly elevated area. It would be down a small incline on the way down but walking along the what is flat.

Yes, standard small bottles and soap bars..good quality products. There are a few drug stores within a two block area.
