We just returned from a road trip down the PCH and initially we were not going to stop in San Francisco because I expected the hotel prices to be sky-high on a weekend, but there were many reasonably priced hotels so we chose this Marriott for the location and loyalty points.

The building is old but updated and each floor only has a handful of rooms. When the elevator door opens, it appears a little questionable with the old brown painted doors, but the second you open the door, the rooms are bright and colorful.

We enjoyed our stay here. Its location was a little further from Union Square than I original thought, but we had no problem with the walk.

MONEY SAVING TIP: Valet parking is $66 a day I believe, but we were able to go to Groupon and secured parking two very small blocks away for $28 for our stay.

For first time visitors, location was great to reach other neighbourhoods of SF by food and transit. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. The street also felt safe with people walking by. Note that it is located just north of the tenderloin which may shock people coming in from the airport.

Front desk was great at supplying things we needed. They have a complimentary sleep kit if you're a light sleeper who might be woken up by the traffic.

Room is fairly spacious. Bed was firm and comfortable. Lots of closet space - one in the hallway and one closer to the bed where we could store our luggage. They lost a star because of the tight bathroom. The shower is a bit small width wise which may cause the curtain to try and cling to you if you are more broader in size. For such a spacious room, it would have been nice to have a larger bathroom with a glass door to the shower. The toilet and shower were also very compactly located together.

We only chose this hotel as it was the lowest per night rate we could find at a Marriott property in downtown San Francisco.

Older building that had been totally renovated so the lobby area is nice, although small. There's a couple of PC's and printers in the lobby area for use as well as a small'ish but comfortable seating area. The restaurant was still closed due to local COVID restrictions, but you could buy snacks and there was a convenience store just across the road.

We found the lack of bell / concierge staff a bit of an issue as we had a lot of bags, equally the small lift lobbies / hallways almost impossible to navigate with the provided baggage trolley, which looked like it had been pilfered from an airport. A 'proper' hotel baggage trolley would've been far more useful.

Front desk staff did advise us of changes in the hotel due to COVID.

Despite arriving well after 3pm, the booked room (king guest room) was not ready, so we were given an alternate which was clearly NOT a king nor frankly, a room. We headed back down to reception to discuss and were promptly relocated to the standard of room we booked, but given the issues trying to move baggage around the hotel, this was irritating to say the least ...... Very poor considering I'm a Lifetime Elite Gold Bonvoy member.

The 'new' and correct room was on the small side, but perfectly adequate ..... As tourists we weren't planning to spend too much time in there. The room and bathroom were perfectly clean and everything (Fridge, coffee maker and TV) worked as it should.

Purely because of its location we'd give this hotel another try, but a few tweaks to guest service are needed in our view.

I stayed at this hotel for the 1st time. I chose this hotel because of the price. The hotel location is really bad. The room is small, wifi is too slow and no free bottle of water even for a Platinum member. Unbelievable. I guess you got what you paid for. I will not stay here again.

This was suppose to a special family reunion. My brother was turning 18 that weekend and we haven’t seen him in 10 years. We wanted everything to be perfect.

When I book this reservation months in advance, I requested connecting rooms or at least on the same floor with double beds each. Upon check in, there was so many complications, miss communication between staff and the third party reservation. Check in process was not smooth at all. Then one of our keys not working.

To be honest, the staff was not friendly at all when we request for things. We ask for a dental kit, they told my sister that it was sold out. Next morning we ask a different staff - there was dental kits.

Our Valet, took forever to come.

I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels, even work in hospitality myself. Have I known my family and I was going to have such a bad experience. I wouldn’t have book the Marriot but prefer elsewhere. More warm stuff and better customer service.

Marriott is usually a "go to" hotel for us, but our stay at this location was frustrating. To start with there was no valet to greet us. After waiting and cars lining up behind us we were told to find street parking and they would get the car from where we parked (this was hard!). We were also charged $79 a night for valet parking. We arrived at 4 p.m. and it was too late to request extra towels and blankets from housekeeping. I was told to come to the front desk to pick them up. After dinner I tried to pick some up at the desk, but there was no desk attendant. I stood there and called - thinking someone might answer the phone, but no one did. I will say the room was clean and we felt safe, but overall this is not a location I would recommend.

Conveniently enough located close enough to Union Square. Rooms were clean and comfortable, but noise from the corridor creeps right in, and traffic is loud, but a sign says there are free earplugs available upon request.. The bathroom is on the smallish side (think Japanese hotel room size) but hey it works.

This is not your standard courtyard hotel. It seems to be remodeled from an older hotel. The rooms are tiny but decorated pleasantly. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom adequate. It has a shower in the bathtub. The bathtub seems original with a type of paint over the old porcelain. The lobby is small but cute. The front desk staff were very helpful. The location is on the edges of Union Square a bit out of the way. The neighborhood is slightly rough with lots of homeless out on the street. However I felt safe (60 y/o female) and was not bothered at all ( I'm from NYC). I found this hotel to be a good value for the location.

Chose this property based on its proximity to downtown as well as Marriott Gold Status. Communication with the Hotel before arrival through the Marriott App Chat was great, the staff helped us with some questions we had. Check-in at 1 am was fast and efficient, as a Gold Member, got upgraded to a room on Floor 14 with a nice view. There were plenty of options around for breakfast and dinner, all of them were really good. The staff was outstanding and always helped us with a smile.

The location is good. We were a bit hesitant after reading some reviews about the hotel being in a sketchy area but that was not the case (at least for us).

The only issue we had was that due to the upgrade, the final bill was much higher, but the front desk immediately realized the mistake and fixed it.

Overall a great stay, especially if you are exploring the city.

Our stay was phenomenal until Friday night when a our couple checked in next door. There are many positives to this hotel, including location and friendliness/courteousness of the staff. We also appreciated the cleanliness of the rooms and efficiency of the valet. However, as noted, we quickly realized how thin the walls were as we heard entire conversations (and arguments) between them. Additionally, whenever they left their rooms the doors shut loudly and woke us up multiple times on Friday and Saturday night. For this reason, as I asked them when they were checking out (on Tuesday), we opted to hop over to a different Marriott property. Again, the many pluses outweighs the negatives, but since we did not get any sleep on Friday or Saturday, I cannot in good conscience give this hotel five stars.

I must say that the hotel staff were putting up with a lot from the patrons and never once did I see them lose their cool. They were consummate professionals. I will choose to stay again, just will ask for a room that doesn’t adjoin.
