We stayed two nights and couldn't fault this hotel. Large comfortable room, with excellent front desk staff. The concierge desk were exceptional and went out of their way to help us. We didn't include breakfast so cannot comment on the food. Location is very good, with Union Square about 10-15 mins walk away and lots of other attractions nearby to... More

My family of 4 stayed in a double room for one night and a suite for several days. Both hotel rooms were very large - bigger than usual hotel rooms especially in SF. Good location - we walked to Ferry building and China town. Only glitch was our room package came with breakfast, which no one at the hotel could... More

My husband and I stayed the weekend before Thanksgiving. The staff was great....professional, friendly and always very helpful. The location was great. Our room was clean and had a view. It rained much of the weekend and the hotel supplied umbrellas which was so handy. The wine selection and even though the room service menu was limited it was good... More

We've stayed at the Le Meridian San Francisco most Thanksgiving weekends for the last five years and the property, staff, and service never disappoint. Arrived on Tuesday evening to a most welcoming check-in staff. They welcomed our platinum status and and offered an unrequested upgrade to the second best room in the entire hotel. Housekeeping staff was outstanding. Bar/restaurant staff... More

My son and I spent a weekend in San Francisco and stayed at this hotel. It was centrally located and within easy walking distance to attractions, the BART and bus lines. The room was excellent and we had a nice view. Most of all, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. During the last day of our stay,... More

Very gracious and helpful staff! Actually looked for ways they could make Our stay pleasant and comfortable. When looking for quick service in the dining room,we were greeted by friendly Matre De, who seated us promptly in one of the most pleasant tables near the window. The server was just as pleasant and accommodating. We really enjoyed our meal even... More

I really enjoyed my stay here. Rooms were modern and clean, but still felt like home. Room service was fast and good. I especially loved the fitness center which had cold towels in a fridge to use...which was AWESOME. I also really liked the apples and water that were there too. The only negative is the early morning protests outside,... More

Great location adjacent to the Embarcadero, modern, contemporary feel and decor, comfortable room and bed, killer views from the upper floors looking north (think odd numbered rooms), good comp coffee service, parking is expensive but there are alternatives close by if you are willing to be a bit creative. They are experiencing a labor dispute with the presence of some... More

I've stayed at the Meridien almost exclusively over the past 6 years, largely because of its convenient location to the business district. Now, though, I feel that I have to move on. After a renovation 2 years ago, the rooms became unfriendly to business travelers: no real desk - it's a bar style surface with a bar stool to sit... More

There are hotels that are old but charming or new and fancy but rude. This hotel is straight up the middle solid. The staff was polite, the rooms were clean and modern, the bar was fine. The location was fine. All good. One exception - we rented a conference room for 2 days. The room had big windows which they... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
