We loved out stay at the Inn at Antietam. Everything was fantastic from our lovely and so friendly innkeepers, the big yard to play in with Adirondack chairs to rest an relax in after a day of taking in the battlefield or hiking, a wonderful swing/hammock that our daughter would have played on all day if we let her, and our perfectly appointed suite.

I should say more about the suite, this was really a perfect set up for a family traveling with a child. She had her own bedroom and there was a bathroom we shared with her, ah and the toiletries were so delightful too, with special soaps made just for the inn.

Now I can't talk about the Inn without also raving about the food. Wow, we were fortunate to be there for two nights so had two glorious breakfasts and leftover pastries that served as our lunch while out and about. The Eggs Benedict was done perfectly, the fresh homemade bread is made everyday, and the options for other treats and pastries were fantastic and all made one site. From scones, muffins, custard, homemade yogurt, granola, and we even got to try a Scotch Egg on our second morning. Wow, it was the perfect start to our mornings and our young daughter loved the special waffle she had. We should also note the wonderful french press coffee, and also plenty of tea options offered too.

Now I have to mention one last thing in this time of a pandemic and health worries around the country. The innkeepers, Miriam and Will, are doing a great job to space folks out at breakfast, encouraging careful mask wearing in public spaces, and keeping the Inn spotless and cleaned between guests. They are really leading the way for other Inns and B&Bs when it comes to helping to keep their guests safe and set a good example.

Okay one more thing, they had so many great recommendations for activities and also on ice cream. Loved the Nutter's stop they recommended in town and yes the "Kiddie" size cup is more than enough for two adults and was all of what $1.35!

We can't wait to come back and enjoy this spot again!

Back for another stay at the Inn to visit Miriam and Will, as well as meet up with a few other friends. Everyone was COVID conscious so we spent much of our time outdoors and the weather was in the low 70s. Perfect!

We went to a fair - lots of chickens, bunnies, goats for sale, as well as hand made items. There was also a terrific Amish Market nearby that some of our party went to and brought back lots of yummy items.

The Cunningham’s have a new pup, Hamish, who is playful and very sweet. He was in love with our dog, Bella, and followed her everywhere!

We stayed in the Edmonds Suite (first time). Beautifully appointed, amazingly comfortable bed and the perfect sheets. The main room Is very large with a king bed and the accompanying room had a queen. Lots of space for clothes and to spread out. The house is spotless and there was sanitizer available everywhere - we felt very safe and wore masks inside, around other guests.

Every time we come to the Inn, there’s always something new to see in their extensive art and collectibles that are on display throughout the house. From Civil War era items to their personal items that have been collected all over the world. If our boys were with us, they would have had a blast trying to find and count every pumpkin decoration in the house.

And I must prepare you for their amazing breakfasts. Pastries, local bacon or sausage, homemade yogurt and fresh fruit, eggs the way you like it AND, the best part, Will’s freshly baked bread. So delicious! Miriam and Will are the best hosts; always offering tea, coffee, ideas for things to do.

If you’re looking for a weekend getaway that’s a short distance from DC that is relaxing and perfect in every way then please try out this Inn. You will not be disappointed! We’re already looking for dates to go again!

Highly recommended, this was a simply delightful B&B experience that far exceeded our highest expectations! It’s readily clear why Innkeepers Miriam and Will Cunningham continue to earn TripAdvisor’s Certificates of Excellence year after year with their 5-star worthy facility. As friendly and gracious hosts, they ensured we were promptly greeted and made to feel as if we were their only guests (though there were several others). With a very clean & well-maintained house and associated guest areas, we found ourselves very pleased with our lodging selection and were able to quickly relax and enjoy the atmosphere and décor. Appropriate COVID social distancing measures were in-place without ever taking away from the unique experience. In fact, the conveniently scheduled & staggered times for guests to enjoy the delightful & special homemade breakfast selections made for a more personal and enjoyable meal. Having personally lived and travelled throughout Europe for 5 years, we would absolutely put Miriam’s personally prepared breakfast on or above par with any we have experienced elsewhere – it was incredible. Our family of 3 and our small dog stayed in the Antietam Room and absolutely loved it. Overall, an exceptional period decorated Inn, coupled with an immensely convenient to location for sightseeing and activities, this was the perfect overnight location for us and we are sure it will be for you as well. Special thanks to the Cunningham’s (and Hamish the puppy) for a great experience – we’ll be back!

Thank you for such kind words! We enjoyed hosting you hall and having our puppies romp together—Hamish missing you the most. We can’t wait to have you back as there is so much to do around here— balls to throw, frisbees to catch! Oh yeah, and all the history stuff as well. ;)

I cannot say enough good things about our memorable stay at the beautiful Inn at Antietam bed and breakfast. From the moment we stepped in the door and were greeted by our host Miriam, the scent of freshly baked goods and the adorable puppy Hamish, I knew this place was one of a kind. Will and Miriam are the most gracious and charming innkeepers and made us feel immediately welcome. They were attentive but not intrusive, giving recommendations for food and information about the surrounding area. They are also awesome storytellers and so engaging in conversation!

Inside the inn is a treat for the eyes with a historic feel and modern conveniences. Our room felt romantic and cozy and had all the accommodations we needed. The bed was especially comfortable! We had a yummy dinner (from Maria’s Taqueria in nearby Shepherdstown, WV) on the outside patio and enjoyed the view of the well-kept garden and grounds.

I want to mention that this was our first getaway during COVID and we felt safe the entire time. Will and Miriam are limiting guests and everyone is required to wear a mask in common areas. Everything is extremely clean and breakfast is served in shifts so folks are separated.

And now that I’ve mentioned breakfast… The food was so delicious! Miriam is obviously a talented chef. We had quiche, savory scones, orange rolls, bacon, fresh bread, custard, homemade yogurt and French press coffee. My mouth is watering thinking about it! Also, they are very accommodating to all dietary restrictions.

The inn is centrally located in an area that truly has something for everyone. Families, couples looking for a romantic getaway, hikers, runners, cyclists, history buffs, etc… We visited the Antietam National Battlefield (the inn is right next door) and it is a must-see.

Will and Miriam are warm, friendly and genuinely care about their guests. You should not hesitate to stay at the Inn at Antietam as soon as possible. We are already planning our next visit!

My husband and I spent three days visiting Antietam and Harper's Ferry and were fortunate enough to book into the Inn at Antietam. It was the perfect choice! As so many others have noted in their reviews, staying with Miriam and Will (the delightful proprietors and their equally delightful dog, Hamish) is like staying at a best friend's comfortable home, but without the guilt of having to help! They are both warm, funny, knowledgeable, easy-going and great conversationalists. And Miriam is a gifted cook and baker who delights in creating new recipes and served up three incredible breakfasts, all different, during our stay.

The inn, 100 or so years old, has been nicely renovated with five well-sized rooms/suites, each with its own character. At least two have small second bedrooms with single or twin beds for kids or people traveling in a small group. We chose the Potomac Suite, with king-sized bed, sitting area, lovely dressing area that doubled as a mini library and bathroom. Water, cold drinks, coffee/tea and cookies were always available, and they serve the best coffee in french press pots. Waking at 7 to sit on their porch with a cup of that coffee is a true treat, especially these days. As was the experience of stretching out in their huge hammock in the expansive backyard on a hot afternoon after touring the battlefield.

Miriam and Will know the area very well, set us up with a terrific guide (Bob) for an Antietam battlefield tour and made excellent restaurant recommendations. You can stroll from the inn directly into tiny Sharpsburg, or drive an easy 5 miles to Shepherdstown in W, VA, a surprisingly hip and chic spot with several interesting dining options and shops. The C&O towpath is nearby, as are hiking trails and the battlefield. A 25 minute drive brings you to all the options available at Harper's Ferry as well.

I can't say enough good things about this B&B or Miriam and Will. Saying our goodbyes felt like leaving good friends. If you're visiting the area, don't hesitate to book here. You won't regret it!

I read 169 other five-star reviews, so I was a bit skeptical, and my expectations were high. The Inn, the hosts (including Hamish, the sweet pup), and the food were exquisite and worthy of every accolade received, and more. Our room was beautiful—large, sunlit, and gorgeously decorated. The bed and linens were perfect for a sound sleep. The bathroom was roomy and stocked with great-smelling toiletries and fluffy towels. The breakfast is outstanding—variety of options including pastries (gluten-free options! I was in heaven!), homemade granola and yogurt, fruits, coffee, juices—everything is delicious and made from scratch. And then there are the hosts—Miriam and Will are lovely, hospitable, and will bend over backward to ensure that all guests’ needs are met. I am 100% certain that I will be back and enthusiastically recommend this B&B. If you’re thinking of booking—do it! You’ll be so happy you did.

Michelin gives three stars, their highest rating, to attractions that are worth making a special trip to visit. The Inn at Antietam deserves that accolade. You could not ask for a nicer place to spend a few days. The rooms are quite nice and beautifully maintained, the breakfasts are truly a culinary treat, complete with home baked bread and pastries--my wife particularly liked the brownies. The host and hostesses, Will and Miriam, are the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. Trip Advisors five star rating doesn't do The Inn at Antietam justice; it deserves a 10+.

This is an excellent Bed & Breakfast in a scenic area of Maryland that is within driving distance of several major sites, including Antietam Battlefield (less than 5 minutes away), Shepherdstown (10 minutes), Harpers Ferry (30 minutes), and Gettysburg is also not too far either (1 hour). Even if you are not a Civil War buff, the area offers a lot of beautiful scenery, wineries, and outdoor activities.

The innkeepers, Miriam and Will, were very friendly and extremely helpful with giving advice about what to do and see in the area. Their dog, Hamish, was also very friendly and playing with him was one of the highlights of our visit!

We visited in a group of 3 - with my wife and I getting one room and my father getting another room on the second floor. Each room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated with artwork and maps related to local history. The mattresses were extremely comfortable and even though there were other guests visiting and the hosts living on the floor above, it was quiet and easy to sleep at night. Each room was equipped with its own air conditioner, allowing guests to adjust temperatures to their liking. There were also very nice soaps and shampoos provided in each bathroom.

The room I stayed in, the Potomac Suite, had a small room with a desk space, perfect for setting up my laptop to conduct a bit of work between sightseeing. The Wi-Fi was also fast and reliable.

The common areas of the B&B are beautifully decorated with a combination of artwork and antiques related to the Civil War and to the hosts' travels around the world. The living room area had very nice sofas and chairs, as well as a television. There was also a water cooler and a fridge stocked with complementary soft drinks.

We stayed four nights and each morning we enjoyed amazing homemade breakfasts. As you can see from some of the photos I have uploaded along with this review, the food is top notch and absolutely delicious. Many of the dishes included vegetables and fruit from the inn's very nice garden.
I highly recommend this place to anyone!

Miriam and Will are the epitome of consummate hosts. The homemade bread, orange muffins, eggs benedict and other specialty items were delicious. After breakfast we headed to the Antietam Battlefield with our tour guide, Bob.
The rooms are exceptionally clean and decorated in various themes. King beds made sleeping comfortable. Every room has its own bathroom and hairdryer. One less thing to pack. I was so happy to see USB cables (3 sizes) on both sides of the bed! How thoughtful. This is a must do getaway for the weekend. Easy drive to DC, Baltimore, Flight 93 memorial. You wont go wrong with Miriam and Will.

My husband and I spent two nights here for an early anniversary getaway and we would 100% return. We stayed in the Potomac room which was spacious and well decorated. I loved that if I woke up early I could sit at the desk in the dressing room and not disturb my husband. The breakfasts were amazing and my husband is still talking about the local bacon that was served. Will and Miriam were so kind and friendly and it was nice being able to chat with them. I can't wait to plan our next trip to stay at the Inn.
