Feel I have to give this a three star based on the facilities and the mosquito/gnat/biting fly situation. The campsite doesn't hide any of this in the literature, but still you need to be so well prepared before deciding to camp here. Get it wrong and it is brutal - even for

I went to Assateague State Park (MD) for a 4-night camping experience on June 20th with my husband and several close families. This was a wonderful experience for us. This would be a wonderful experience ONLY IF YOU ARE AN ALL-ROUNDER person who is not fussy and picky, just like

We have been camping on assateague state park from last 5 years. Never felt for a day that we need to change. The atmosphere is always relaxing and nights are wonderful with the sea waves. Kids enjoy beach and like horses around. Maryland state has done a great job by providing

Probably yes. We have verizon wireless and the coverage worked just fine. I understand that the carriers share their cell towers, so you should be ok. I would suggest to check with TMobile to be on the safe side. Good luck!

There are usually sites available. We did notice that the weekend of Columbus Day did get booked up early but otherwise October usually isn't too bad.

Agree with what #gibsong14 said. I prefer the state park for camping (cleaner and nicer facilities) - we didn't get too much of Matthew up here, but it would be worth calling in-advance. The water is probably still swimable, but not for much longer.
