Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife had a very negative experience with the front desk at this hotel. After a long flight and dealing with traffic, she arrived and front desk informed her I did not put her name on the reservation (my fault). Wife was obviously not happy and this should have been an easy fix, but for some reason the front desk person could not figure out how to be nice and resolve the situation. Instead was surly, said couldn't do anything (really?), and offered very little "hospitality" (never asked 'what brings you to Asheville? How are you? Let me try to help" Etc) Wife is getting pretty angry at this point. Then front desk walked back to the office and said to co-workers "I don't know how to deal with this woman" loud enough to be heard (!). It is front desk's job to deal with this kind of thing and be nice. We usually stay in Hiltons when we come in 2-3 times per month, this was first time at this hotel. Sorry to say will be our last.

Unfortunately it was not a pleasant experience given numerous issues. But what was even more unpleasant was a lack of response from an employee that asked me to send her pictures of my stay. Plus zero response from the general manager when I followed up with him. I’ve stayed at the Renaissance in Raleigh NC and Pittsburgh PA several times and it was lovely. I’ve very familiar with the brand. This recent Asheville experience was so bad that I’m really reluctant to stay at another Renaissance in the future. Issues encountered: - I reserved a city view room and we were put into a highway facing “mountain” view room. So we were moved to a correct room. - Both rooms, the TV didn’t work. We were told by the front desk person that a maintenance person would have to come and fix. You’d then need to perform the multi step routine he did every time you wanted to turn on the TV… - The bathroom shower handle literally fell off in my hand when turned on - The refrigerator cabinet door was literally hanging on by a bottom hinge - The closet doors had actual chunks knocked out of the door - The heat/ac unit rattled SO bad that after investigating, it was clear I had to take the top of the faux surround off of it to stop it - Toilet paper holder would simple fall in a downward position at the first use. - No hairdryer. I was provided a new one after asking the front desk manager Thursday night - Only one elevator worked for the duration of our stay. - I will note, the bar staff was really a nice gentleman. Same man every night we were there. Professional and top notch vs the front desk staff. Again, truly surprised and very a disappointing experience given what we paid.

This place is full of black mold and the maintenance was terrible, the kitchen was very nasty. The housekeeping staff doesn't speak English so it's hard to communicate with them. There is no security during the day so the homeless people just walk around like they stay there. I would never recommend it to anyone. IT'S A DUMP!!! NOT WORTH THE MONEY YOU PAY!! The elevators are dangerous and get stuck between floors. Enter at your own risk!!!

Good stay overall. Hotel was very clean. Check in was quick and efficient. As rewards members, received breakfast vouchers. Above average for a hotel breakfast, service was excellent. Downsides were a lot of hallway noise (in fairness, the hotel was fully booked), and only saw 2 of the 4 elevators working during our nights there. But only had to wait twice because the elevator was full when it arrived. Parking is easy to navigate. Front desk staff were helpful. Will be back.

We had breakfast vouchers. For $20 per meal per person. We were still charged 44 dollars both mornings. Total$88 for two meals. Eggs from a box They did their best to hide that fact. Admitting that it was confusing. Valet Parker had an attitude because we self parked. For a fee. But he had to open the gate. maid never showed up. We stayed two nights. Half the elevators did not work. No service elevator so you were competing with housekeeping. Could be why they never showed up We had catered meal. Over $100 a plate for salty fried potatoes and tough chicken piccata. Wine. One glass not refilled. dessert was an apple tart. Sam’s club is better I did tell them I would never be back. Too many nicer places to stay. Our room was $250 a night. For small queen bedroom. Tiny bath. On ninth floor. View of parking lot

470nanr, We appreciate your time in providing us feedback about your stay. We are disappointed to hear the experience fell below your expectations. If you believe you were charged incorrectly, please do call the hotel directly to speak with our front desk as to what was included in your stay. Certainly if you were to receive complimentary breakfast and were incorrectly charged, we would adjust. We will be sharing the rest of your feedback with our team as well.

Great swimming pool, inviting lounge, good downtown location Mostly enjoyed customer service, especially Kasey at the front desk. Breakfast buffet could be improved, but the omelette was very good. Room service was good but unpredictable

Looks nice online but is cheap and dated, overall I wouldn’t stay here again. Hot tub jets are broken, bathroom door is barn style and broken with screws coming out of the carpet, cabinets in room are broken and make it difficult to access fridge. The $22 breakfast would be free at any other hotel, it’s the same items as a holiday inn.

Great location but expensive for what is a very tired hotel. Biggest issue was elevators. Only 4 serving 278 rooms over approx 12 floors and up to 3 out of order during our stay meant a wait up to 20 minutes to get to your room - can you imagine? Didn't appear to be any urgency to get them fixed? Pool was pretty cold and the changing facilities tiny with no place for valuables.

Go828460, We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed our location in the city! We are disappointed to hear you experienced unforeseeable elevator delays. Please know it is always a priority to have our elevators up and running; however, it is not always something we can fix in an instant. As well, we do have safes available for guests to use through our front desk. We are currently in the process of planning enhancements and upgrades for our property. We do hope you keep us in mind for a future stay so you may experience what we have in store. Thank you for giving us detailed feedback, we will be sharing and discussing with our team! Warm Regards,

Beautiful hotel..not great service. Never more than one person at front desk during very busy time. Agents not friendly at all and seemed harried. Had to wait in line 10 minutes on arrival to get on an elevator….only to get to room and mobile key doesn’t work. Back down to wait in line for front desk. No smile..no apology.

Great trip for Conference. The hotel may be a little dated, but the staff was great. Personnel in the breakfast area were fantastic and Carolyn at the front desk provided excellent service and helped me get a slightly larger room for my family. Really appreciate the hospitality.
