Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Clean, great location but newly installed flatscreen televisions were basic “hospitality” models that lack WiFi connectivity and only offer basic cable offerings. We were not able to air play from our phones nor connect to our Netflix, Amazon, Hulu etc. accounts. This was not appreciated. We also were given an “upgraded” room directly adjacent to the noisy elevators.

There were mice in our rooms! You tout yourselves as a wellness hotel preying on those of us who have had stays in the nearby hospitals and are trying to recover and then you compromise our healing by having mice in your hotel. It is very obvious that the hotel is infested with them considering that none of your staff were surprised when we complained. Absolutely disgusting and your staff were barely helpful. My entire stay should have been refunded. Not to mention that when we finally had enough and chose to leave, not one staff member helped us with our luggage outside and into our waiting uber. It was raining, cold, near midnight, and I had just had surgery and was meant to be recovering, not lifting heavy bags in poor weather. When I first made the reservation, I asked if there were microwaves in the room. The booking agent (booked directly through Wyndham, not a third party) assured me that some rooms had them and he would put us down for one. Our room did not have one and when I called the desk to ask, the staff member said that the rooms don't come with microwaves, but that I could rent one for $20 a day. I was swindled by your booking agent. I truly believe that he knew I wouldn't book if I knew there was no microwave. Considering our length of stay and the nature of our stay, being able to eat warm food while recovering was essential. Imagine my surprise when we moved rooms after seeing the first set of mice and finding that there was a microwave in that room. By the valet stand, someone lost their wig/weave and it stayed right there for the entirety of our stay. It was wet and stank and none of the staff thought to remove it. This should have spoken volumes for the level to which they operate here. Your staff and your facility are atrocious and I'll never stay at another Wyndham ever again. If I could, this would be zero stars. Do better.

Response from General Manager, Owner at Wyndham Boston Beacon Hill
Responded 4 days ago
Jessica, we are truly sorry to hear about the distressing experience you encountered during your stay with us. It is deeply concerning to learn about the issue in your room, but rest assured we follow a very strict protocol. Our third-party company, Ecolab, came in to aggressively treat this matter and we have installed door sweeps on all guest doors, which made a tremendous difference. There have been no further sightings. The fact that our team did not respond with the urgency and empathy expected in such situations is unacceptable, and we sincerely apologize for this lapse in service and care. Regarding the assistance with your luggage and the miscommunication about the availability of microwaves in the rooms, it's clear we fell short of providing the level of service you deserved, particularly considering your condition post-surgery. This feedback is invaluable as it highlights significant areas for improvement in our staff training, facility maintenance, and overall guest support. Please rest assured that we take your comments very seriously and will be conducting a thorough review of our protocols to address these issues promptly. We aim to ensure that all our guests have a comfortable, safe, and welcoming experience, and it is evident we did not meet these standards for you. While we understand your decision to stay elsewhere in the future, we hope you will allow us the opportunity to make amends and demonstrate the true level of hospitality and care we are committed to providing our guests.

I had a very pleasant stay here. I needed a place to sleep close to MGH. There were plenty of employees all around to make a single woman feel safe. They do have a restaurant/bar in the lobby and also offer paid parking. The room was very clean and quiet. I would recommend this hotel.

Nick, it's disappointing to hear about the issues with the shower in your room and the unsatisfactory response from our team. This is not at all the level of service we aim to provide, and we deeply apologize for not offering a suitable alternative immediately. We can assure you that we will be working with our team to improve our maintenance efficiency and to see how we can better serve our guests in such situations moving forward. We hope to one day welcome you back so that we can renew your trust in us.

Nice to find a good hotel in the heart of Boston that is reasonably priced. Boston hotels tend to be very expensive and it is refreshing to find one that doesn't break the bank. Friendly, accommodating staff!

The Beacon Hill Wyndham is in the perfect place to head over to Fenway to catch a show or sporting event. From the valets to the server the next morning, everyone was just lovely! The accommodations were wonderful and I could not have asked for a better night's sleep!

My first choice for a patient's overnight needs before and/or after treatment at Mass General Hospital. call ahead for rates, the affordable pricing rates can double during high tourist times. Parking available at additional rates. MGH patients should leave their car in the hospital parking garage after treatment and walk 2 short blocks to the Hotel. There will ne a slight fee at a bettervrate than the overnite hotel rate.

The bed was a king, with a thick mattress and really comfortable. I was a little worried about the pillow, but it was just fine. My husband and I both had a great sleep. It's a good place to go if you have to be at MGH, and there is a special hospital rate, and parking is discounted for MGH patients.

This was our longest visit (4 nights) while using MGH services. Very convenient location: lots of eateries nearby and a CVS and Whole Foods less than 100 yards away (accessible from the 2nd floor). We upgraded from previous visits to an executive room and asked for a microwave (came with French labels). Overall very comfortable. Very friendly staff. We had two issues - no hook of any kind in the bathroom and there are no USB outlets anywhere. Outlets in the lamp stands were so worn chargers wouldn't securely connect. The hotel should update the bedside and desk lamps.

The major draw of the Wyndham is its proximity to Mass General Hospital, and for that reason alone, I'd stay there again. The second positive a/b the Wyndham is the staff: friendly, helpful and the room was super clean. The downsides are the ones cited by other reviewers: saggy mattresses and an HVAC system that's crying for updating. The construction across the street was fascinating to watch and the proximity to some good restaurants is another plus
