Just had our second visit at the Charlesmark, this one a three-night stay after we were in Boston for the Paul McCartney concert. Got a really amazing deal on Travelocity -- $118 per night -- which was so cheap it was an offer we couldn't refuse. The Charlesmark did not disappoint. Rooms, although small, are clean and well-designed and the...

As a solo traveler with limited mobility due to multiple sclerosis, I am always concerned about accessibility issues. Because the Charlesmark is a small boutique hotel, they lack some amenities, and the property has some disability limitations, but this was more than made up for by the tremendous helpfulness of the staff. Practically every request was honored, up to and...

My wife and I planned our 3 night trip to Boston many months in advance (September 08), looking at different hotels and taking particular note of prices and then looking on Tripadvisor for the experience of other people. Consequently we quickly eliminated one cheap hotel. We found most hotels were very expensive. However, one that was within our means was...

The hotel was even smaller than i expected and was surprised that even our taxi driver hadn't heard of it! It's safe to say that the rooms are very small. We had came from New York where our room there was standard so coming here was a bit of a shock. By the time the suitcases were opened up there...

My wife and I stayed here on July 3rd as sort of a "get away from the kids" night. We were checked into room 107 - a little weird as the entrance to rooms 106 and 107 is actually through the lounge, but ended up being nice and quiet despite a decent bar crowd. Room was small (we just had...

Great location, excellent free wifi and 2 PCs in lobby, with free access to printers. (nice touch, much like Euro & Canadian hostels I've been to. Not a boutique hotel, so don't pay boutique prices (no more than $225/night, in my opinion) rooms are ok but small-ish.

Reserved through Booking.com. We were allocated room 205 whch has 2 generators directly outside the window and the noise is intolerable.Staff who were extremely helpful could not give us another room until the next day. This new room was on the 6th floor and made this hotel 'perfect'. Location is excellent and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Just...

Was lucky to get rooms when I called. More so cause I had booked for 3 nights but wanted to extend my stay for another 3 nights but couldnt because they were booked. Location is great. Right next to the "Subway". Its also walking distance from most of what you would need to see or do. Hotel is absolutely fantastic...

Stayed three nights at this hotel and thought it was great. Room (and bed) was small, and the air-con fan which always ran was a little noisy, but this was more than made up by the great location and extremely modern and tasteful room and hotel overall. Walking distance to Boston Commons and Fenway Park for the baseball, as well...

This hotel is in a fantastic location and close to lovely restaurants, shops, the common etc. The staff were OK, not too enthusiastic - coming up from NY we found them far less friendly and helpful..booked a trolley tour with the receptionist and she was certainly not going to explain the tours available . The male receptionist was more hospitable....

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
