Moved here from hotel on North St. Great location, near shops and food and fun. Anyone over 6 foot tall will find a great deal of difficulty in the elfin beds. Rooms were clean but very, very small. I just had the feeling that 4 or 5 wealthy local students with deep pockets decided to do this place as a...

Innaccurate non constructive review. We have queen beds and double beds. Just like hotels all over the world. What is an elfin bed. Is this an attempt at humor? We are owned and operated by Mark Hagopian an experienced hotelier who is offended by mean spirited reviews like this. We offer great location, great value and award winning decor. Traveler...

I like Boston/Cambridge and have visited the city a lot. The Charlesmark is in a great location. However, I have paid much less or the same for much nicer accomodations also located in great locations. The Charlesmark is NOT worth what I paid: $200.00 approximately for each night. This price includes tax. 1) The rooms are very very small. They...

The accomodation was clean and neat. The lack of closet space was irritating as it was only a really small cupboard as in half the height and width of a normal closet which was to store the clothes of 2 people! There was more space given to the TV. I knew that the room would be small but that was...

We beg to differ! Facts: This award winning boutique hotel is owner operated by a 35 year Boston resident who knows the city inside out. He hand picks and trains his staff to direct guests to the venues that meet their needs. These guests must have come and caught a staff member on a rare bad day. We have several...

We stayed for two nights in May 2007 and were pleased with the trendy accommodations. Room 406 is small, but clean and with modern characteristics. Great, great, great location--very close to the subway system, within walking distance to the Freedom Trail, and the street behind the hotel, Newberry Street, is filled with very trendy, boutique type shops. Good restaurants very...

We booked the Charlesmark for a two night stay at the end of a 10 day trip to the States having read the excellent reviews on here. Unfortunately we were really disappointed and I have to say that of the six hotels that we used during our trip the Charlesmark was by far the worst. On arriving at the hotel...

The Charlesmark Hotel could not be better situated. In the heart of Boston's Back Bay directly above the Copley Square subway station, it's in easy walking distance of the whole of the centre of the City. The hotel has recently undergone a major refurbishment and, although the rooms are small (even by European standards), they are very well appointed. The...

For a 3-day conference at Hynes Convention center, I turned to TripAdvisor to find a hotel nearby that would fit the budget of my employer. I contacted the Charlesmark directly and made a reservation, which was confirmed promptly by e-mail and gave directions to the municipal parking lot where they've arranged a $20 discounted rate, much better than the Prudential...

Felt compelled to write a review after a wonderful stay at the Charlesmark. Staff were very friendly and helpful both on arrival and throughout my stay. Room was small but perfectly formed. Shower was among the best I've ever used and loved the sound system with speakers in both the bedroom and bathroom. Centrally located a few steps from Copley...

Hello, I just returned from a weekend Business trip to Boston. I stayed at the Charlesmark Hotel in the heart of the Back Bay area. I arrived there at 1:30pm and check in time was 3:00pm so my room was not ready yet. The ladies at the front desk were really nice, they tagged my luggage and went to put...

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in beginning of April. The hotel is small and quiet, room was a bit small for 2 people and with some not very nice roof view, but very well designed and very clean including the bathroom so the size/view was not an issue. The stereo system in the room is a nice feature...

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
