Hotel 140 is a boutique hotel at 140 Clarendon Street in central Boston, located in the historic YWCA building (the first YWCA ever anywhere). When will the YWCA signs come down (I expected to find groups of young women roaming the halls)? Never... it is a historic landmark, so the signs stay. Unfortunately the rooms are as small as the...

Located on a quiet street behind Copley Square and near Hancock Tower, Hotel 140 was a fabulous find. There are many good dining options nearby. Flour made our list for breakfast - make sure you grab some cookies for later. Red Lantern is open for late night dining until 12AM - the tuna appetizer was delicious, Globe had really good...

Hotel is located in the best area in boston, Panera Bread is within walking distance, Prudential Mall too. On Sunday we walked to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in the pouring rain, 55 degrees. Service was excellent. The room was comfortable, we were on the eighth floor. I liked the security card use on the elevator. Least favorite part...

Husband and I stayed one night. Room was clean and location very convenient to transportation and attractions we wanted to hit. The bed was too soft for our preference. The shades did not darken room well at night, so we didn't sleep well. Will try someplace else on next getaway trip to Boston.

Hotel 140 is perfect for a quick visit to Boston. The rooms are a bit on the small side, but perfectly modern and very clean. The desk staff are all friendly and super helpful. We arrived hours before our check in time hoping to just drop our bags off before exploring the city, but we were able to get into...

This is a very clean and quiet hotel in the Back Bay. Parking is available in a parking lot adjacent to the hotel. There are lots of restaurants and terrific shopping on nearby Newbury St. I have already booked another stay in the Fall.

A basic, but well located hotel. Within walking distance to pretty much every where (if you aren't scared of a few miles you can walk as far north as you could want). Otherwise, the T stop is located not even a block away. You are located on the orange line and can very easily travel on the T to all...

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
