Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel rooms extremely comfortable, kid friendly and loved the heated pool - amazing for kids. Staff incredibly helpful and nice, go above and beyond! Perfect location where you can walk straight out onto the pathway to the beach - would stay again.

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed here for four nights while attending a Skills n Talents swim camp and loved this place. Here's why: The junior suite was extremely comfortable, great bed, partial ocean view really had a good stretch of ocean, friendly efficient staff from front desk to valet. But, in my mind, the real reason to stay here is Brenda, greatest head sever ever in the restaurant AND the granola. It's the best anywhere. I always have yogurt granola and fruit and their chef has somehow taken it to a new level. Brenda made sure we had everything we needed and is just a friendly great personality. The balcony is a good size and perfect for drying swim things. Hotel towels are perfect. Oh, and very, very important, they have a selection of real newspapers every morning!!!!! I'm a retired reporter and this was heaven. So few hotels offer newspapers now and this to me was the biggest luxury of all!!!! The room is beautiful, sorry I didn't take a better photo. Bed is amazing.

The Pacific Terrace Hotel gave us the very best three day getaway to the beach!! Comfortable beds, amazing oceanfront views of surfers, skaters, strollers and sunsets, and friendly service make this an easy choice for a return trip!! A variety of restaurants and shops are within walking distance as well. We definitely plan to return next year!!

For us, the staff are so friendly, the setting is so perfect and the room is so comfortable, we just love it. We have just completed our second stay, but we would not contemplate staying anywhere else in San Diego.

This was one of the most memorable hotel visits I've ever had. The unobstructed ocean views were breathtaking, the hotel was very clean and comfortable, and the location was incredibly ideal. Staff were friendly, attentive and helpful, and the heated pool was amazing! Truly a destination that can't be missed. I will be going back to experience that level of peace and tranquility again.

Pacific Terrace is a wonderful place to stay. We had an ocean-side room with a large balcony. Everything in this hotel is lovely. There is ample secure parking below the hotel and the boardwalk is right outside your door. This is a fabulous hotel.

Booked a room for a single overnight stay to be near my son who lives in Pacific Beach. While the hotel is located right on the beach and has beautiful views, the room I was given was in the back on the ground floor (#127). I'm sure I paid a reduced rate for it, but it was a very unpleasant stay due to the noise from the housekeeping closet and general hotel foot traffic (including guests going to and from the pool). They charge a resort fee, which is also not worth it for one night. And the housekeeping started trying to push us out of our room a full 2 hours before check out, even though I had requested and been granted a late check out (1 hour). Internet didn't work while I was there; TV system was useless, and HVAC was lacking (too hot). I gave a "very good" rating because the staff was professional and accommodating, parking was safe, and as mentioned, location was amazing. Building itself is older and showing age, but very clean and well maintained.

Excellent beach location with wonderful sunset view. Great area, plenty of restaurants and stores within walking distance. Kendra at the front desk was very friendly and offered helpful info about the area. Property is well kept and we enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub. Enjoyed falling asleep listening to the surf. We purchased tickets to the USS Midway through the concierge at a discounted price. Will definitely stay again, so much to do around San Diego.

If I didn't know better, I would have assumed I was staying in a hotel that costs 100/night, not 500/night in winter time. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone I respect. The room smelled of old people and the spa & coffee service were disappointing.
