The disaster began upon making our reservation. The person who took our reservation was very curt and seemed like she had better things to do. When we tried to check in at 3:00, we had to wait for them to finish cleaning our room. The hallway had a strange odor and when we got to our room the cigarette smoke...

Ok folks, after reading the reviews I was prepared for basic accomodations, etc. I have got to tell you I was deeply disappointed. The lobby is decieving, it's the only clean place in the hotel. This place is filfthy!! Run the air conditioner if you dare, it looked like the filter hadn't been changed in years. Obviously the management does...

this is usually where i stay when visiting the city and, to be perfectly honest, i don't know why people love to stay mid town or uptown which in my opinion is too touristy and congested to navigate. The Larchmont is located on a quiet residential street between 5th and 6th ave in a gorgeous old townhouse with a dramatic...

the larchmont is a find, for sure. if you are not bothered by very small shared bathrooms down the hall (clean but old), this is the place for you. pleasant, quite helpful staff, decent sized clean rooms (double is fine for 2 with little luggage, queen is big), excellent location and unbeatable price. there are some quirks. 3 keys, tricky...

POSITIVES: Location and price were great. 3 blocks from subway. Quiet street. Towels and sheets appeared clean. A/C worked. Hotel provided robes and slippers for shared bathrooms. Bathroom was always available when we needed it. Two bathrooms on our floor: One had a shower, stall combo. The other a separate shower and stall. NEGATIVES: Room needed some serious cleaning. Dusty,...

After scouring these pages for somewhere to rest my head for a few days, I eventually opted for this place, which was among the cheaper options available. As others have noted, the best thing about it is the location, a tree-lined street in West Village, with easy access to town. I've stayed in worse places over the years, and it...

Had some reservations about the stay, especially with the shared bathrooms, and the cheap price, but after staying there for 2 nights, all was well. If you want bells and whistles, don't stay here.....if you want a nice, clean place, then the Larchmont is the place to stay. Located in a very nice residential neighborhood, close enough to the subway,...

The best thing about this hotel is the location, That is the reason my husband and I will continue to book it. But, this hotel is filty. The bathrooms are very dirty and the rugs in the rooms are hardly vacuumed, the sheets are wrinkled and I question just how clean they are. Where is the manager of the cleaning...

This hotel was perfect for a cheap crash in NYC without being disgusting or dangerous. It is in a beautiful neighborhood and has great security. We checked in really late, but the desk attendant was extremely friendly. The bellman in the morning was also very nice, and helped us with our bags. The shared bathrooms could definitely use some modernization,...

The hotel looks quaint on the net and from the street, step inside however and it's hell. It smells of a combination of industrial strength disinfectant and urine. Along with the nursing home theme, the mattress has a plastic cover. The door to the room locked but the key would not withdraw. The air conditioner didn't work. The ceiling fan...

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
