Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Elevators are a nightmare. Had to wait 15-20 to get an elevator to/from 24th floor. Water was turned off on 2nd day from 1pm-4pm with limited notice (small sign in elevator) that you had to look for to notice. There were no options given on alternative restrooms during this work, even when asking reception (I was working from my room that afternoon and on Zoom calls, and had to wait 15 mins for an elevator to take a break, go downstairs and look for a nearby restaurant where I could use a bathroom. Front desk staff was pleasant, but housekeeping and other staff during the water outage were using the elevators and cutting in front of paying guests to use elevators and were not very friendly.. As a Hilton Diamond member with @150 night a year, I have never seen such a lack of organization in any Hilton branded hotel. Rooms were typical small size for a NYC mid brand hotel but not well laid out with closet blocking suitcase rack (only place to put it).

Great place to stay which is away from the main hustle and bustle but with easy access to everywhere. Staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them, little shout out to housekeeping and maintenance who were lovely and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. Rooms were spotless and lovely white fluffy towels provided. Bonus of having fridge in the room and really quiet rooms which was perfect for us. Check in was effortless and a nice touch of a freshly baked cookie and a bottle of water each. Would not hesitate to return here if ever in New York again. Ps it’s a 15 minute walk to Liberty Bagels and this place is well worth a visit!

Hotel is in a fantastic location near penn station and Madison square garden. I was able to walk into Times Square and all the way down to 911 Memorial. Great spot for also exploring Chelsea market, Tribeca and high line. Room was comfortable and clean. Front desk staff always willing to help. Would definitely stay again.

Cons outweigh the pros: Cons: - only 10 rooms per floor but you can hear everything in the hallway and adjacent rooms. You will hear every door slam on the floor. Street noise was actually quieter. - hallways so narrow two people can’t stand shoulder to shoulder. - greeted by vacuum cords I almost tripped over on way to room. - only 2 elevators and staff use them too. So expect long wait times if on upper floors. - bfest was pretty subpar. Don’t expect pastry selection or even oatmeal at bfest bar. Maybe you can order Al la cart. - lobby? Nope. Sitting area might accommodate 3 people. - tiny tiny rooms. That might be a Manhattan thing but this felt like my first college dorm room. - don’t expect the front desk to break a big bill. They don’t have cash. Pros: - location location location. Was here for Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden which is about 3-4 blocks away. - friendly front desk staff - comfortable bed Overall, I’m surprised Hilton branded this is a DoubleTree. Felt more like a Hampton Inn.

Kareem made our stay sooo much more memorable ! From check in to check out, he gave platinum service and went above and beyond to ensure that our first time in New York was one to remember. He was very knowledgeable, made us feel like family and never hesitated to answer our questions on dining / things to do suggestions . He is most DEFINITELY an asset to the Hilton brand !

What a find! This was my first visit to New York and I wasn’t sure I picked a hotel in the right location or if it was a good hotel or anything of the sort. I was extremely nervous booking this property because of some of the reviews but I ended up pleasantly surprised! The hotel is a quick walk from Penn Station and I found the location fantastic for everything I wanted to do during my time in New York. I came in for a concert and was able to walk to and from Madison Square Garden with zero issues. It was also a relatively easy walk to Times Square and to multiple subway stops. The room was clean, well-kept, and modern. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shades kept the room nice and dark. Loved that my room had a bathtub! There are only a few rooms on each floor, and so you’re never truly far from the elevator. My room was immediately next to the elevator shaft and there was noise from the elevators as a result. However, I never found it to be disturbing, and it never woke me up or prevented me from sleeping. It was just sort of background noise — same with the city noise. I was on the 23rd floor and still heard city noise, but it didn’t bother me! I ordered desserts via room service and breakfast via room service as well. Everything was fantastic! They even honored my Diamond F&B daily credit without issues — I’ve had to “remind” hotels of it in the past, so that was a nice surprise! My flight got pushed back to a late afternoon flight and the front desk happily honored my request for a late checkout (1PM) even though I called the morning of checkout asking for it. For my needs, this hotel was PRRFECT. Thanks again!

I picked this hotel on the location & it’s a good one! You are close to everything you need & a subway stop is just minutes away. Rooms like most of New York aren’t massive but they were good enough! The bathrooms were lovely though! Reception staff were great only thing I don’t understand about these chains is the large deposits but that’s all too common now it seems…

Trying to keep in mind that it IS NYC so of course things are expensive. I paid over $240 for one night. My room was very small but clean, comfortable and quiet. I paid extra for an Empire State Bldg view but didn't get it. It was snowing anyway so I told myself it didn't matter. As a Diamond member, I received a credit of $18 for breakfast but even the basic Hilton buffet (which is free is most locations) was $25. Ala carte is available but it, too, is expensive. $18 for 3 pancakes with a couple of strawberries on top. Parking is available a short walk from the hotel (at Icon). It is a valet only service and, with tax, cost another $60. The front desk was busy but pleasant. My complaint, like so many others have already mentioned, is with the elevators. They are slow - and the lines are long. I would have been okay going up and down 26 flights of stairs but my friend wasn't so inclined.

We stayed for 6 nights over the Christmas period. The rooms aren't huge but exactly what I'd expect for NYC - we had room for unpacking large suitcases and then storing those. The rooms are clean and well looked after by the maids service. The location is excellent, very close to Macys and well connected to all parts of the city, an easy walk to Bryant Park, Times Square etc. Only negatives I'd cite are the shower temperature was a little difficult to deal with and the lifts are a bit slow but not impossible to deal with.

Low key hotel with bad customer service . Not complying to what has been promised the day before. Had two consecutive stays and asked twice to keep the same room before checking in upon call’g front desk and at check in . On the day, I asked politely to to as told and my claim was denied because the hotel is sold out …. Still room available in the same category …. And we do have to switch rooms . Nice for a confortable stay . Never again !
