Second time we stay at the James: Location is perfect if you want to be in the heart of Soho. Great roof terrace bar called Jimmy with outdoor mini pool included. VERY trendy. Almost too much as the hotel guests share the same lifts with the bar cool on goers and sometimes there is a bit of queue / wait....

My husband and I stayed at The James for a long weekend, to celebrate our anniversary. It was wonderful. We were surprised to have chilled champagne and strawberries waiting in our room, and a lovely note congratulating us. Such a caring detail. The rest of our stay was flawless, and the staff could not have been nicer, thoughtful and helpful....

Excellent location right in the heart of Chicago, beautiful room with an awful view of a parking lot. Very friendly stuff, excellent food although there were a couple of bad happenings with the room service. No buffet breakfast... Awesome extras in the room ( video projector and Bose sound system ) but lucking any instructions on how to use it....

In town with a group of friends. Location is excellent especially if you're flying in from Newark. Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Roof top bar is awesome. Would stay recommend.

We truly enjoyed our stay. The only negative was that we did not get from the beginning a room at a high floor, which I highly recommend. The flooring is wood and the interior is modern. They soon need to renovate but it is still ok. We enjoyed the corner room a lot. The life fitness machines in the fitness...

Fabulous SOHO location & very walkable accessible to some of lower Manhattan. The service from almost all the staff was excellent, very professional, welcoming & responsive (which is not the norm necessarily for a lower Manhattan hip hotel).

Hotels in New York as we know always expensive. The James is an ideal option, Well located and easily accessible this quirky contemporary hotel has all you need. The reception being on the third floor if you views of New York and the rooftop bar and Paul are an ideal place to relax whatever time of day. The rooms are...

Great location but the room was smaller then I thought. It was clean and nice ambiance. Roof bar was too small, couldn't find any seats but it had great view! I will comeback for the location and service.

Not up to the level of the Chicago James. We stayed here as we felt our experience in Chicago would be reflected in Soho. This was not the case. Overall I would likely look to stay elsewhere the next visit to NY

If you want a noisy venue, the James Hotel Soho is for you! We lived in Manhattan for 40 years so we are not country bumpkins. Turns out with respect to the James Hotel Soho, we most certainly were! We don’t travel to NYC often, but when we do we like to splurge a little bit and stay in a...

Staying in SoHo

Neighbourhood Profile
SoHo
Once the artistic hub of New York City, SoHo (South of Houston) is now one of the premiere shopping destinations in the world. Housing everything from the most popular luxury brands to swank boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, this is a sophisticated shopper’s dream come true. Broadway teems with big-name stores and people during the day, while Prince and Spring Streets are the other main drags to explore by foot. Take a detour down the quieter side streets to see the real star of the district –majestic cast-iron architecture everywhere you look. What were once warehouses and art studios are now meticulously restored loft buildings favored by many of New York’s celebrities, making SoHo one of the trendiest addresses in the city. The pretty streets of Nolita (North of Little Italy) offer a more sedate vibe, with plenty of tiny boutiques and hip restaurants to seek out.

“Corner suite was lovely. Beds are great. Do not shy away because of talk about glass bathroom. I believe it was mentioned on Fodors. There is a beautiful screen that comes down with the touch of a button, but while open it adds tons of "footage" to he room. Ingenious.”
