I had a two night stay here during a business trip and loved this hotel. It's in a great location in lower Manhattan, an easy walk to Wall Street, but in a zone with very moderate traffic by New York standards. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and probably the quietest I've ever had in Manhattan. Highly recommended for anyone...

Although I am not of the means to be staying here frequently, I did splurge for a special occasion and it was well worth it. First class treatment, classy service, and not phony like many places. Had a suite overlooking the harbor, with a telescope to peep interesting things. Not a place to stay every trip, but every now and...

my husband surprised me with a trip to NYC for our 20th wedding anniversary and made reservations to stay here. Upon check-in, I mentioned it was our anniversary. Immediately a young man at the desk was talking into his shirt cuff (like a Secret Service agent!) and within a minute 2 flutes of champagne were presented to us. It didn't...

We enjoyed a short family vacation at the Ritz-Carlton on our first trip to New York and after staying at the Ritz-Carlton, we will definitely be back and to this hotel. Excellent customer service from our arrival until we left. Nothing was too much trouble to the staff and although the hotel may be further out from Times Square, it...

Stayed at the Ritz Carlton Battery Park for one Saturday night in October as a short break before having my second child. The location is really nice - out of the really hectic hotel/tourist sprawl of midtown but near enough to transport and some attractions. And the views of the river were incredible, especially at sunset, and the telescope in...

We came here from the Conrad Hotel which we had a poor experience. I can tell you that Ritz-Carlton really knows how to treat customer! We were first greeted at the door by a manager, which already knew our name (came from the bellman that took our luggages in the cab). We were walked to the front desk which had...

The weekend We spent at this glorious hotel was one of the highlights of our lives. We celebrated my wife's birthday on the club floor with a Statue of Liberty NY harbor view. The service on the club floor was outstanding, the food delicious and the view amazing. This is a wonderful way to spend a weekend !!!

Wonderful property that is newish by Manhattan standards (10 years old or so). I like Battery Park and how its developed and the hotel is situated in the centre of this area. Rooms are fair sized, large and tastefully appointed bars/eating areas, and excellent and helpful staff. Subways are about 5 minute walk, taxis pretty easy to come by. Unless...

Stayed at the ritz carlton battery park for 4 nights for valentines and my 30th bday! Had reservations about the location but it suited us great only a short and cheap subway ride up to Times Square- plenty of restaurants, cafes etc in the area and so much more quiet and relaxing than Times Square which is bonkers!!! The room...

Arrived to find that I'm upgraded into a room overlooking Liberty and Governor's Island. Room even had a spotting 'scope for close up views of the statue and incoming 'planes. Everything was just fantastic, with all of the staff greeting us warmly and even wishing my friend "Happy Birthday" as this was her surprise birthday treat. Just the perfect place...

Lausanne, Switzerland

Hi all,

I'm a bit up in the air here as to the Battery Park Ritz and figured I might ask a few questions & share a few thoughts.

2 adults, 2 children (3&7) booked into a 1 bedroom liberty view club level suite

I'm a bit worried as to transport times & distance. Out of 5 days in NY I can't imagine we'll be in the Battery park area more than 1 or 2. Cost isn't really an issue compared to a 30 minute trip with a tired & cranky 3 yo. Any young families out there that have tried it out?

How good are the Statue of Liberty views? In some photos they look pretty decent while in others lady liberty looks like an ant out on the horizon. Honestly, the view is the main reason I'd take the Battery Park property over Central Park. We just got back from the Ritz Tokyo & had a wonderful city view from a 53rd floor corner suite. Even if I could find a hotel in NY that commanded such views, I would like to have my daughters remember NY a bit differently (one view overlooking a city is pretty much the same as another to young children right?).

Are there really no coffee machines in the rooms? I can't remember the last time I stayed at a hotel without an in-room Nespresso or Lavassa machine & this includes smaller 4* boutique hotels. A bit minimalistic for a high end luxury 5* isn't it?

Any truth to a lack of bathroom amenities? I expect 4*s (and lower 5*s) to stock tooth brushes/razors/sewing kits, etc. on property but properties such as the Ritz should have such things in-room & replenish them when used.

How is this property with kids? What in-room amenities were given for the kids (crayons/colouring books/children's soaps/children's toothbrushes/stuffed ritz lion/etc.)?

Better yet... What were the adult 'welcome amenities" (i.e. welcome card & chocolates)?

Thanks in advance.
