It’s no 5 star hotel, but it got the job done! We spent three days in the city and it was a convenient place to stay! We were able to grab a free continental breakfast each morning of our stay, and they were able to store our luggage before we checked in and after we checked out. I wish the room had been just a tad bigger because there wasn’t really much space to put our bags and we found ourselves climbing over a lot, but considering we didn’t spend much time in the room during the day, it didn’t matter too much.

This place is certainly not a 5 star hotel but I was looking for a budget friendly hotel in Manhattan for my family (2 adults, kids 11 and 13).

This place was more than fine for what we were looking for. The room is tiny but I wasn’t expecting anything different in Manhattan. The location is great for sightseeing, only a few blocks from Times Square. We certainly felt safe here.

Having breakfast included was a plus. It wasn’t the nicest hotel breakfast I’ve had but we were all able to fill our bellies with cereal, bagels, bananas, a few hot options, juice and coffee. Better than having to go out in search of breakfast in the morning and having to pay more for it.

I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a place to rest in Manhattan without spending an insane amount of money!

One annoyance was the very poor Wi-Fi signal. We didn’t spend enough time in our room for this to be a major hassle, but if you need good Wi-Fi this might not be the place for you.

We stayed just for one night on the 28DEC19 . Its a budget style hotel , clean , staff were friendly . It is a bit cramped for 2 double beds in a room we had to walk over our luggage . But overall we were happy and we received great service .
They provide a buffet breakfast which was worth it ..seeing that we stayed at Roosevelt and didn't even receive coffee or tea

Dear vani1011, Thank you for sharing your review with us! We are absolutely delighted to hear that you had a wonderful experience! Yes, NYC hotel rooms are small but, who comes to NYC to stay in the room? We also consistently ensure that we meet all other standards such as the complimentary hot buffet breakfast, clean rooms, and exceptional breakfast! Great place to stay in Manhattan. Close to Time Square and Port Authority Bus Terminal. Rooms spacious and clean. Good bathroom. Staff helpful and courteous. Breakfast can get a little busy, but all in all in doesn't detract from the hotel or experience in New York

On arrival to the hotel we were told that we need to pay a $50 deposit for our room for the duration on our stay. The reception staff stated that we would receive this money back when we check out, we could not pay in cash (which we had previously done at different hotels in NYC), we were instructed to pay by card.
When we arrived back home - we checked our Credit Card statement, the hotel had taken $276!!! This was not the amount that we agreed on back in NY when we checked in. We emailed the hotel and they stated that our money had beeen released and that we should check our statement again.
We contacted our holiday company to see if they could help us. After 7 weeks the hotel are now saying that they won't refund the amount as they are now accusing us of smoking in our room!! (which is not true).

Be warned - if you stay here, pay in cash or you might not get your money back..

On the plus side the location is pretty good and walkable to Times Sq, Rockefeller, Grand Central Station etc and some good places to eat (if you're nearby, Capizzi is a fabulous family-run Italian and a delicious mexican El Centro).

Sadly that's about it, our visit started with the receptionist shouting on the phone at a colleague to 'get down here now' to check that our room had been cleaned. We were given a room right next to reception, really small, with a view of the dustbins and the noise from the reception area was awful. I went back out and politely said we were not staying in that room for 4 nights and needed another one; eventually they agreed we could have another room but the plumber was in there so it would be ready later. Thankfully the new room was better, bit bigger and on the 9th floor so had a good view of the city skyline. So be mindful if you choose to stay at this hotel that there are 4 bedrooms right by reception and you really don't want to stay in one of those.

Breakfast was strange, its a very small area to get your food and a very limited number of tables so each day some people had to eat standing up or on a stool with no table. There's a pretty limited selection but something to start your day with. But each day we watched as they resisted topping up things that had run out. If you asked if there were more yogurts or bread for example you'd be told no and then a good while later a small amount would be put out. Bowls with butter, jam etc only ever topped up with a small handful at a time; it was like they were controlling how much was provided but that's not great when the selection was limited anyway.

For our last day and half the lift broke, there is only 1 lift so we had to climb 9 flights of stairs each time to go in and out. There was no help offered to bring our luggage down on our last day so I had to do 2 trips up and down to bring down our suitcases, not great.

Its never cheap staying in a city but I really wouldn't recommend you stay here even if its a reasonable price.

We stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is lovely. The bed was huge and the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in!!

The bathroom was a decent size with a bath and shower over the bath.

The room was 510 and was quiet enough considering we were in New York City!!

We had a coffee maker, an assortment of tea bags and a iron and iron board in our room. Hairdryer in the bathroom.

Breakfast was included and they had a great selection. Cereal, bread to make toast, bagels, doughnuts, muffins, and batter to make your own waffles, as well as sausages, eggs, yoghurts and a selection of fresh fruit. Various fruit juices too.

The receptionist was lovely and helpful. There was also tea and coffee as well as lemon infused water that you could help yourself too at anytime. When we came in, in the evening there was popcorn and cookies that you could help your self too. There is an ice machine in the basement and vending machine for the guests to use too.

The location is fabulous. Short walk to broadway, Times Square and the subway.

The restaurants and delis around the Hell’s Kitchen area are fabulous. As are the pizzerias.

It’s also easy enough to find if you make your way from JFK via the air train and subway.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. I would highly recommend this hotel.

My partner and I booked three nights in a standard King Bed and upon checking in at 11:30 pm on Saturday night, we were told by the unfriendly, unwelcoming gentleman at the front desk that there was only one remaining room available... in the corner of the basement. After keying in and inspecting the space, we found toilet paper unflushed in the toilet and hair in the hair dryer, leading us to believe that the room was not properly cleaned. We informed the same gentleman and he flippantly suggested that we contact the manager. We later discovered that we also had no trash cans, and when we asked for one, he gave us one trash bag. The nearby ice machine in the hallway beeped almost throughout the night, and we had to call him twice to ask him to fix it.

During the remaining of our stay, we often found housekeeping carts blocking our entrance to the room. Sadly, our hotel experience put a damper on what would have been an otherwise lovely trip.

We arrived late in the evening from the UK and checked in for our 4 night stay. As we entered the lift I noticed the carpet was very dirty and worn.
The king size room was very small, you can barely walk around the bed without knocking into things. There were a handful of clothes hangers on the wooden unit surrounding the Tv but nowhere else to put clothes. The shelving wasn’t wide enough and the one bedside unit drawer was too small, so our clothes stayed in our suitcases which was very inconvenient.

The bathroom was clean and had sufficient towels.
The bed was comfortable enough . There was a heating/cooling unit under the window but when it dropped cold during the night it was too noisy to run.

The next morning we were due to meet a friend but I had an issue with my phone.
Unbeknown to me she had been calling the hotel trying to get in touch, the receptionist was unprofessional and unhelpful refusing to make any attempt to contact me because my friend did not know our room number. I was furious that no one could be bothered to knock my door ( there are no phones in the room ) and pass a message. When I spoke to the receptionist they were rude and unapologetic and kept quoting “they did not have your room number”. Inexcusable behaviour.

After staying two nights we went out expecting the room to be cleaned - it was not. My husband complained and fresh towels we brought up.

The next morning when we went down to breakfast I spoke to the manager who was quite rightly horrified and promised to raise the issues with staff.

Breakfast was ok but as others have said only small amounts are put out and staff are slow to refill which is frustrating as the hotel has tour groups so large numbers want breakfast at the same time.

The Tv has very limited channels and is not smart one so no Netflix, the wifi struggles at times. There is a small fridge under the desk so there is nowhere for the chair to go and I banged my legs on it many times whilst getting into bed.

The hotel should invest in vacuum cleaners that work. The carpet was always grubby, quite disgustingly so really. Or maybe just new carpet ?

As I said the manager did seem genuinely concerned and spoke to me as we left saying they’d only taken over in March.

Upon arrival to this hotel (very early in the morning) I was informed that they had my confirmed reservation in the system but the university card that was used for payment had been declined. For this reason, I was then asked to make the $1,000 plus payment. I was participating in a conference representing my university and the payment had been made by my university. I asked why the hotel had sent a confirmation of the reservation when the card had been declined and the clerk did not know. I did not have the $1,000 plus amount, so I was forced to pay for one day in order to try and fix things with my university. While waiting for the general manager, I was informed I could not lay down in the lobby despite the fact that I had just arrived from an overnight flight. Once I spoke to the general manager, I paid for one night. During the day my university called the general manager to make the payment, yet the general manager refused to give the university the price from the original reservation, because he had "cancelled" that reservation due to no payment. The new price was much higher, so my university decided to book another hotel. When I arrived back from taking a lunch, I found my luggage and personal items had been taken out of the room and put in the main breakfast area! These items included my passport and cash! This, despite the assurances that I had the room until the next day and making the payment of one day! Needless to say, I left for my other hotel immediately. This was a very unpleasant experience! Instead of the hotel accepting that they made a mistake in confirming the hotel reservation and not informing my university that the card had been declined, they put the blame all on my university. Later, I found out that the card that I tried to use for the one day payment had been declined because of an inputting error by the staff and this leads me to believe that the same thing could have happened with my university. To make things worse, the staff do not have the language skills necessary to effectively communication with the public. It was very difficult to get answers to even simply questions! I would never ever book with this hotel again!
