We enjoyed staying at Hotel Mela. The room was quiet, clean and hotel staff was very courteous. The location is ideal a very short walk to Times Square. Our room was spacious for NYC and the bed was comfortable. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for a reasonable price.

It is a few steps from Times Square. The hotel is great, and they offer free apples at reception. The rooms are beautiful however a bit squeezed, which is a norm in New York. We felt very safe too. I would stay here again if I have to.

Stayed for four days in May 2017. We got a slightly bigger room than the cheapest you can get because we really wanted a king bed. Room was clean, nicely decorated/furnished, looked new and was spacious enough - we did not feel crowded at all. Bathroom was a bit on the small side, but very clean and we have no...

This hotel was close to the theater and seemed reasonably priced for New York. It was booked as part of a package which was offered by a travel agency. Our room was quite small but It was clean, and the bed was comfortable; the bathroom was clean and the toiletries adequate. We asked at the concierge's station about the business...

Mela has a great location, just down the block from Times Square. The staff was courteous, our room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and we slept well. We have traveled to NYC more than half a dozen times in the last 15 years (we enjoy the Broadway shows, and usually hunt out a few things we haven't done...

We recently booked this hotel through Priceline for two rooms for May 18th-21st. When I received my confirmation of our room, it did not indicate the bed sizes so I called the hotel to ensure we got a King bed. The woman I spoke to said it was a Queen that was booked even though you are not able to...

We stayed there for 2 nights and had two rooms. The hotel location is great. Short walk to Times Square, Empire State, theaters, and other places. The hotel charges $30 for Wifi, the gym( think a small room with a few pieces of equipment) and I guess the sad coffee and small apples in the morning offered to guests. This...

Really not sure why this is rated a 4-star hotel. Location is great but that's where it ends. My room was tiny, barely enough room to put the suitcase on the floor, no seating, no refrigerator. But that wasn't the part that I minded so much. The room looked out onto a very dim courtyard and had decorative curtains that...

Pluses: Location, location, location. If you are going to the theatre and like to flop into your hotel soon after, this is a great place. The staff (with one notable exception at the front desk) is very friendly and customer centered and the rooms seem clean. Minuses: Super small rooms, no amenities like ice machines, no control over heat/air in...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
