We had 3 rooms booked for our family trip for my daughters birthday. Request a certain floor and got it and asked for a different room type and got it. Fantastic welcoming service in check in.
We booked a junior suite and had access to the lounge which was very welcoming to get bottled water and other supplies. We stayed half board ( altho been told it’s stopping soon at the hotel ) and that was a godsend. To save having to go out looking for meals that people wanted to eat. Buffet in the morning and night was perfect.
We had people in our party who had never stayed there before and they also loved it. The breakfast was amazing as usual and loved the mix of going into the main restaurant and quieter one to try different surroundings.
The rooms are very clean and great they have shower gel in there for you. I love the gym there too. We will be back I’m sure. Love the place. If going for the first time here, don’t forget a kettle / tea making stuff and my advice would be to buy one in USA for the voltage out there cos the UK ones with adapter plug take ages to boil !!

After my wife and daughter went to New York 2018 they had such a fantastic time they
convinced me to go so I thought Christmas Day and new year in New York 2019.
My wife stayed in the Rui Plaza Times Square and she said it was a great hotel so I booked to stay there again.
Upon arrival at the hotel I was quite surprised it was everything my wife explained the place was amazing the hotel was spotlessly clean and the reception Staff were very helpful and we were checked in very fast.
We were given a room on the 19th floor it had two double beds with thick mattresses and a bed settee that had the thinnest mattress possible and was very uncomfortable the springs dug into your back the room was clean and the views were amazing.
The room was cleaned and towel change everyday the bedding was changed 3 times in our week the air con failed to cool just heated the room the first night we thought we would die because of the heat we reported it to reception who got maintenance up straight away where they recorded a heat of the room in excess of 90 degrees! They fixed it straight away and we were sleeping well after that.
The stay included breakfast which was very enjoyable and a buffet type they had a reasonable priced cafe open in the afternoon must admit we did not have an evening meal there it had a good menu but the food was not what we wanted all in all it was a great stay with fantastic staff.

Just a couple of things that I would like to point out

If you have a bed settee try to get a better mattress, if you get into breakfast after 10 tell them you want to eat in the right hand side restaurant because at 10.20 they start coming round saying they were closing at 10.30 and you have to move to the other restaurant such annoyance when you have queued up and just sat down to be moved.
Also the restaurant was open to the public for breakfast and the most annoyingly thing was standing waiting in a queue for a table people come in off the street pay their money and was seated before the guests.
In overall this was a great experience but I just wish I had checked bill before I went as they charged 799 dollars New Year’s Eve night I would have come home the night before

I surprised my Husband to a Birthday trip to New York in November 2019. Having never been to the USA before I wanted a hotel that was near to Times Square as a central base and the hotel did not disappoint. Check in was smooth upon arrival and our room was clean, very comfortable and spacious - we had a room with two double beds and still felt that it was a good size. We found that the location of the hotel was ideal for us and we were surprised that you can’t hear the busy city once inside the hotel and our sleep was always undisturbed. We did have breakfast at the hotel as it was part of the B&B package on 2 mornings during our stay and found that this was ok but we chose to eat out in the city too as we had a lot of early starts. We also used the on-site cafe to get a take away drink as we walked into the city some mornings too which was reasonably priced. We reached most of the main sites on foot but did use the Subway a couple of time’s too and found the stations in easy walking distance from the hotel.

All in all we had a fantastic stay and I would definitely stay at this hotel again if we went back to New York.

Just arrived home from Riu Times Square NewYork . Great hotel for sightseeing as it’s central . Nice rooms but we didn’t get the room we booked. We were booked into a double delux family room what we were put into was a double standard.apparently it was an up grade. Well it was on the 26 floor with a balcony and we were told on checking in we could use the lounge on 26 with complimentary drinks etc . But when the key stopped working the stuffy young woman on the desk said it wasn’t included. So wouldn’t re do the key . Honestly the women on the desk needs a personality transplant. The guys were fine . They sorted out key out straight away with no questions asked . The Buffet breakfast was included but honestly we tried it twice and It was awful why do they open to the public when they have guests to cater for . It was crowded loud and cold greasy food . We have used Riu before in Mexico and food was fantastic. The cleaning of the room we couldn’t fault the girl came in everyday and changed towels even when we hadn’t left them on the floor. The other thing is noise at night people just slam their blooming doors I think something needs to be put on the doors so they cannot be left to slam shut . Apart from that we had a great week ..

We recently returned from this hotel after our first visit to NYC. When we arrived at the hotel after a long day travelling first impressions of the hotel were good. Very modern reception area and very clean. Check in was ok and pretty quick. They took a hold deposit of $200 for our 2 rooms to cover any breakages etc which incurred whilst there. This was refunded at the end of the holiday and back in my account within 2 days of leaving, bearing in mind we left over the weekend. Our resort fees were included in the cost of the holiday which we booked with TUI and these covered all WIFI usage, bottled water etc in the room. Once checked in we went to our room. I had emailed the hotel prior to arrival and requested 2 rooms next door to each other and on high floor with views. Both of these requests were fulfilled with our rooms being on floor 27. The room was adequate for the amount of time we spent in it. I believe all hotel rooms in NYC are small. There is not a lot of space for clothes with only a small area of wardrobe and 4 small drawers, but we utilised what space we had. Rooms were kept clean by housekeeping staff who cleaned everyday. Breakfast was included in the cost of the holiday. I had read reviews beforehand about breakfast, stating to be down early as after a certain time it became like a cattle market. We were down for breakfast on the first morning at 7am and already it was a free for all. I understand you are in New York and it is hectic all the time but I think a little more organisation would be better. The dining room is like sitting in a school canteen with no ambience and no privacy with tables being so close to each other that you had no privacy to talk to who you were with. Although there is quite a few choices at breakfast, the quality is quite poor for a 4 star hotel. This resulted in us having to have breakfast out of the hotel after only 2 days as we really couldn’t face it any longer. In NYC you expect to be able to eat the breakfast the hotel provide as it does cost a lot of money to go there and the extra expense on top of what you have already paid for isn’t ideal. The hotel is in a great location, only 3 minutes walk to Times Square and also within easy reach of other famous landmarks so can’t fault the location. Some staff are very helpful but some are very rude and make you feel like you are a problem when asking for information or help with anything. Other than the problem with the breakfast and some rude staff the visit was ok but now I have seen it and done it I wouldn’t return to NYC as plenty other places on my bucket list

We have just returned from a seven night stay at the Riu Plaza which is a fantastic hotel in a great area. The hotel is very clean and modern when we checked in we were allocated a room on the third floor I had requested on my booking through Booking.com a high floor, I mentioned this to reception and was allocated a room on the 19th floor (room 1916) which had a great view.

Times Square is a couple of minutes walk away and the hotel is situated on the edge of the Hells Kitchen area with plenty of places to eat. The breakfast is okay but you need to be down early to avoid an over crowded dining room. We booked with booking.com all fees and taxes were included so we had no nasty surprises at checkout.

I would definitely return to this hotel, just a couple of tips / recommendations not related to the hotel - if you want to go up to the pedestal at the Statue of Liberty the first 200 people through the ticket office receive a free ticket. We where lucky enough to receive a ticket, the views were excellent. If you fancy watching a show go and see Moulin Rouge we can not rate this show highly enough and would definitely go and see it again. We booked tickets before we travelled as it does get booked up quickly and it is rare to secure tickets from the booths in Times Square.

A lovely hotel in a fabulous location. We stayed here for 3 nights as a family of four, sharing a room with two double beds.

Friendly staff on arrival and departure, breakfast can get very busy but never queued for too long.
We paid $65 city room tax for the three nights which included WiFi and bottled water (bottled water not regularly replaced and WiFi was patchy at times so not a great bargain)! A deposit of $150 was also taken on arrival and refunded at check out.
The hotel can’t be responsible for some of the other noisy residents at night but you do also still hear some outside street noise, even on the 18th floor.
Left luggage retrieval was very busy around 2pm and the hotel reception ordered us a private car service back to JFK airport for $75 plus tip which worked well.
We would definitely stay here again.....

We had 5 nights in New York and stayed here in Jan 2020
Got a free upgrade on arrival to a 2 bed suite near the top, with stunning views of the city below. It's a great location on 8th Avenue and 46th St.
Breakfast was included in the package we took and it was well worth it, great selection of hot and cold foods for all nations to enjoy and really set us up for the day ahead.
You can also get a super beffet style evening meal there for $35, which is cheap in comparison to many places

This hotel is all all location, location, location.

Aside from it, it's a rather average experience from a service and quality perspective. Rooms are very badly isolated so street noise is permanent all night long, so if you are a light sleeper, this is most certainly not the hotel for you. Room size is in line with the average Manhattan hotel room.

Buffet breakfast set up has the feel of a large beach resort (like those of this hotel chain in sunny shores): an endless amount of tables next to each other so that you cannot enjoy a private conversation with your better half, feels like a factory where everything is self-service and of low quality.

On the plus side, this hotel is a 2 minute walk to Times Square so if location is important to you, then you may wish to consider this property as an alternative which is probably priced below the average hotel room in that part of town.

We stayed here for 4 nights whilst in New York for a city break, The hotel is in a great location, approximately 5 minutes from Times Square and also very near Top of the Rock and the Empire State building. Our room was lovely and clean, very compact (as you would expect in NYC), I would recommend a room on one of the higher floors - we were level 10 but I think the views from higher up would be better. We had breakfast at the hotel on a couple of the mornings, and there is a huge amount of choice, but be aware it is very busy at peak times (8:30-10), the buffet is open to non hotel guests and seemed to be very popular. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable - overall I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We arranged a private transfer when we booked through go airlink as there were 8 of us travelling and took about 75 mins but depends on traffic. you can get the air train and then the subway to 50th street and its a short walk to the hotel and takes under an hour.
