Average hotel, room very small, not much room to put your cases and clothes away, staff a bit miserable at times, on the whole it was ok. Good location across from central park, short taxi ride to broadway and the tourist sites.

We stayed twice,at this hotel in the last two weeks. We had rooms at different levels. One at the front,on the sixth floor, then at the rear of the hotel on the fifth. Check in on both occasions took less that two minutes each time. Both rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. The reception desk staff were friendly and help full .The front room had...

Lovely old style hotel, rooms were a little tired on 13th and 14th floors but importantly clean. The Subway was only a very short walk away and provide easy access to the city for $2.30. Local shops and restaurants are also very close. I would happily return to this hotel.

Just woke up in this hotel. This is the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Obviously because of very old windows which don't fit. It's like there are no windows at all. There is some maintenance being done to the building, so I got woken up by a heavy machinery noise. Felt just like it was working in the...

I'm guessing this hotel is due for renovation soon, which will increase the prices but also result in some necessary changes. We stayed in a suite (401) that was large and very serviceable in terms of space (outer living area that could be closed off with French doors, from the bedroom), but the rugs had a distracting number of dark...

I stayed at the Excelsior with my two adult children. We had a small suite with a sleeper in the entry room. The first room was a little tight - it had a desk and a double sleeper and a closet. There were curtain covered french doors between the rooms - no sound or light privacy - but fine. The...

Can't fault it. Rooms are big, clean, cleaned every day. Location is perfect, we had an amazing view of Manhattan. It,s also about 200metres from 81st subway. I take issue with people saying it's old fashioned - only in the same way as grand central station or the empire state building, loved it. Tips If you are coming from JFK...

We stayed here for 5 days with our kindergartner, and overall we enjoyed it and might stay here again. Room was very large by NYC standards. Staff friendly; so close to several kid-friendly museums, the Diana Ross playground down the block. Tons of good restaurants nearby (many that deliver). The breakfast room is $17 which is not steep when you...

Here are a few points from our 4-night stay: - Two 'queen' beds were actually 2 single beds. When I booked the room I confirmed that this room would be suitable for a family of 4. It wasn't. My daughter had to sleep on the too-small couch. - Horrid breakfast. - Lazy bellhops. - Grumpy and incompetent front desk workers....
