The Carlyle is a New York institution; I feel bad speaking honestly about this hotel which is all reputation and no splendour. To say it's dated is an understatement. Only 2 of the lifts work, the suite we had booked was dated, chipped, worn and the furnishings 30+ years out of style. There were threadbare rugs and splintered furniture. The...

A musty smell, no Iron and no coffee maker, room was spectacularly 1990's. the little kitchen was great, but only had booze and candy. No Coffee Maker!?!?!? Very disappointed, when I informed the front desk they told me "They would make a note"... This is the last Hotel I would book into in NYC.

Dear Christopher, Please allow us to sincerely apologize for the frustrations you faced during your stay with us. While we are undergoing renovations throughout the hotel, some of the rooms remain in a more classic style and we know it does not necessarily suit every taste. Additionally, as not all rooms are outfitted with coffee makers, we host a lovely...

This Cafe seats less that 80 people yet it features dinner programs with stars like Judy Collins and Woody Allen. Great way to spend an evening with your sweetheart. The food is five star. After the program and dinner great jazz in the lounge.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
