If you want visit Manhattan and see all the "must be" without using taxis and metro there is not a better place to live in. 100 points for location, a little bit less for service, but still, like rooms, coffee and tea all the time, good enough. Not so expensive.

Just did a 3 night stay at The Evelyn for a wedding. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. Not a ton of extra space in the room (as is to be expected in NYC) but did the trick for us while we explored the city. The front desk was helpful and stored our luggage both before check-in...

I've stayed here many times. This is a very charming hotel and well appointed. Staff are helpful, rooms are large. This stay was very quiet. The heat didn't work in my room, and the hot water came and went to do my shower was not fun on a freezing morning. If I were to have stayed longer, I would have...

The rooms are very clean and the style is nice but they are tight even for 2 people in ny. The location is great away from Times Square but close to everything. Staff were very professional and friendly.

We had a perfect stay in The Evelyn, nice staff, nice room (maybe too small if you are not very organized with the luggage!) but cleaned. The hotel is located perfectly, behind Madison Square. There is not a classic breakfast in the morning but evry day 7-10 am they offer fresh desserts like muffin, brioches ecc. and american coffee.

Good in general about location but more improvement in Reception and lift. Staff very kind and professional. Clean room but not great mainly for 4 people and change windos with double glass. in order to avoid air from outside

Location is great, rooms are nicely decorated and clean, though they are tiny. Rooms on the back side have almost zero outside light in the windows and stay dark all day. The elevator never works, so plan on waiting a long time for the one working service elevator or get used to the stairs. The lobby is being renovated... STILL....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Evelyn formerly The Gershwin Hotel is now offering newly residential inspired rooms with references to an Art Nouveau Style. Our NoMad hotel is inspired by the musical and art heritage of the neighborhood, which was the epicenter of the popular music industry in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The music theme is reflected throughout the rooms, corridors and bathrooms. The NoMad District (now also known as "NoMad" - North of Madison Square Park) is now one of Manhattan's most popular neighborhoods, characterized by its beautiful and historic architecture, exceptional bars and restaurants tucked away on quiet side streets, and many other attractions. Centered around Madison Square Park, the NoMad District is within walking distance of Midtown, Union Square, Greenwich Village, and NYU. ... more   less
