Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent two nights snowboarding on Mammoth and this hotel was perfect in every way. We were able to get up early and have a full breakfast (cereal, bagels, waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage/potatoes, deserts and beverages) at 6:30 with plenty of time to catch the 8:08am free bus to the slopes which opened at 8:30. The. after a full day of activity, return to the hotel for a cold beer in the large hot jacuzzi. Food and snacks are right around the corner at a Food Outlet across from a RiteAid. Restaurants within walking distance. I'm writing this because of some of the negative reviews which to me are unfathomable - "unsafe", "sketchy parking garage" - ridiculous! "Dated"? A little but even though carpets are worn here and there, and the jacuzzi could stand to be refinished, everything is very clean and staff extremely friendly. We've stayed at very over-priced ABnB's and the Shilo Inn is at least half the price and far more convenient. Stay there, you won't regret it (FYI: I don't work for them or get any financial compensation for this review)

Well, this place is a rundown old hotel that they say they're refurbishing the room. Them selves aren't too bad, but the hallways and the common areas are really ratty. The hot breakfast they offer is very marginal but they do provide scrambled eggs, but no meat. For the price 170 a night it's not a good bargain. In the parking and underground parking garage is pretty scary. The check-in clerk Marian was pretty nice

stayed at this hotel while passing thru Hwy 395 due to its location...the breakfast provided was ok for the most part...the lady at the front desk was very helpful and friendly...location was close to food and shopping...the place/furnishings however has seen better days and in need of some loving care although the front desk lady did say they will be remodeling the place soon but until then...

Shout out to the Shilo Inn at Mammoth Lakes. I had a reservation for Tues-Fri (1/10-1/13). Because of the Hwy 395 closure, the manager agreed to move it back to Wed-Sat, no extra charge. But today my car blew up as I was leaving and no AWD SUVs available. The manager graciously canceled the rez with no charges incurred. Fantastic customer service! I will definitely be rebooking with the Shilo Inn.

Shilo Mammoth was terrific - great value for money. Sure, the hotel is a bit dated but the room did not feel “worn” or at all run down. It was perfectly clean, clearly deep vacuumed, and the room was HUGE! The front desk staff were also very friendly. The continental breakfast is a pass, but Starbucks is literally a stones throw away, and there’s a fridge + microwave in each room. They also offer free ski gear lockers! Highly recommend !!

I stayed for one night in summer 2022. Excellent location for passing through Yosemite, in fact it is quite close to the west exit or entrance. Very spacious and clean room. Free parking and hearty breakfast. The city of Mammoth Lakes is very pretty. In summary it is a very suitable hotel for stopping after or before entering the Yosemite park.

I visited this hotel on saturday June 18 2022 with my disabled wife booked through Hotels.com at a cost of £176.35 only to find that the only lift in the hotel wasn’t working. The female in reception said there was nothing they could do as it needed a new part and when i explained that we could not stay because of this she agreed that the the cost would not be charged to our credit card. we then booked and stayed at another hotel and guess what my credit card was charged the full amount. I messaged hotels.com who also spoke to reception that day and was told the same about not being charged and she said I would receive an email. two days later i again contacted hotels.com and again the agent was told that I would not be charged and a refund would be given within seven days. NO REFUND YET

Front desk clerk was surly. Elevator was broken. Hallway was filthy, with water stains and carpet peeling up. Mildew in room. Smells bad throughout hotel. Best thing about the breakfast is that Starbucks is right next door. There's nothing wrong with this hotel that a bulldozer couldn't fix.

***UNSAFE*** do not stay here. I normally do not write these reviews, but I feel compelled in this case. I checked in on June 3 2022, and went up to my room. I had called for dinner to be delivered, he came knocked, and left food. I ate then was relaxing. I began to hear someone messing with my door handle. I proceeded to go to the peep hole and looked out. There were three men, one of which had a screwdriver and were trying to get into my room. I yelled hey wrong room buddy! And they proceeded to run out of there. I immediately called the front desk to send security. They told me the following: “well he can’t get in without a key, so I wouldn’t worry about it. If he comes again call us.” ???? Are you kidding me? I grabbed my things and checked out after a little over one hour after checking in. I told the desk clerk I was checking out as I did not feel safe. I called to try an secure a refund and the property refused. Absolutely terrible. Do not book here.

More like a motel than hotel. Smell of chlorine everywhere. Broken hairdryer and shower curtains and floor were dirty with stains all over. Sink tap won’t open. Breakfast was mediocre. Sauna was broken. Only good thing was covered parking.
