This was our second visit to Iniakuk Lake Wilderness Lodge and our best holiday ever. Our first visit was in the summer of 2008 when we stayed in the Main Lodge and the Caribou Cabin with our three children aged 5-11. That was such a wonderful once in a lifetime experience that we decided to make it twice in a...

The fact that all ten reviewers give Iniakuk Lodge five stars says it all. The setting is awe-inspiring. The Lodge is comfortable and suited to the setting - several log buildings with remarkable views, exceptional food and remarkable amenities given the remoteness of the area and the difficulties and expense of travel. Pat and her son John are perceptive hosts,...

We had a splendid time at Iniakuk Lodge and Caribou Cabin. The remote setting makes it a very special place. Pat and John are the epitome of good hosts and made sure everything was perfect for us. Pat’s meals are delicious, the setting on Iniakuk Lake is beautiful and the guest suite cabin is private, well-appointed and comfortable with a...

We enjoyed the best remote outdoor vacation we have ever experienced at Iniakuk Lake. First of all, the lodge is located in one of the most beautiful places in Alaska. The only buildings on the north end of this five mile long lake is the lodge. Only two other cabins are on this lake and they are on the other...

This review is more specific to Caribou Cabin, rather than to the lodge itself. Caribou Cabin is a bit lighter on amenities than Iniakuk Lodge, but other than not having a chance to check out the lodge, I have no regrets about not staying there. The reality is that Caribou Cabin isn't about the cabin, it's about Alaska. The cabin...

The tremendous fun and adventure begins if you check in for you flight with a 12 passenger plane from Fairbanks to Bettles. At the air field of Bettles you feel like in a movie from 1950 about tough aviation heroes and their passion for small planes. (Don`t miss the Visitor Center ) The floatplane that we took to Iniakuk Lake...

The adventure began by hopping into a 4 person snow plane for our 2 hour flight to the Brooks Range (this my dream getting to sit up front, ready to take over at any stage!!). To say the scenery was stunning belies the beauty of the snow capped mountains and sheer remoteness. Our arrival was on a winter snow capped...

Iniakuk Lodge and the remote Caribou Cabin in the Gates of the Arctic National Park in the Brooks Range were truly a “once in a lifetime” travel experience. At Iniakuk Lodge, we enjoyed reading on our balcony overlooking the lake and mountains while watching Common and Pacific Loons (first sighting for us of a Pacific Loon!). Pat’s meals were delicious...

The central Brooks range, one of the last great wildernesses, is magnificent and awe-inspiring. To have access to the range from the Gaedekes’ Iniakuk Lake Wilderness Lodge made it one of the greatest trips we have ever taken. The facilities are top notch in a location where, given the remoteness, what they offer is a true luxury. The view of...

Alaska is an amazing state full of good people... but because of the volume of summer visitors I often felt like I was being herded through the points of interest and seen more as a dollar sign than an interested traveler.. This all changed when my wife, son, and I landed on Iniakuk Lake. The flights out to the lodge...

“The arctic tent was my favourite - I've slept in many tents, but never before in one equipped with a wood stove - amazing!”

“There aren't a lot of rooms... the cabin is pretty intimate. The views from all of the rooms are beautiful. The only real difference is proximity to the wood stove or the propane heater. Other than that, they're all the same. The beds are comfortable, and there are plenty of options as far as blankets and comforters for warmth at night.”
