Ron and Shirley offer down home hospitality at historic Chatanika Lodge where you'll find food, music, pool, aurora viewing. Their dogs, Ollie and Mollie will greet you at the door and follow you around from room to room tails wagging. The lodge is a treasure trove on the outside and inside, a lifetimes accumulation of rustic Alaskana. A treasure trove...

Places like this are hard to find. Easy to imagine old time gold miners hanging out at the bar. After a cold day out in the snow we had a great meal. Signed a dollar bill and added to the collection on the walls. Great place to view the Aurora.

This lodge is real Alaska. The restaurant and bar are simply wonderful. The food is average but the atmosphere makes up for average food. Come and take a trip back to the past. The owners can also assist with information on the area and the super drive out the Steese Highweay where moose viewing is at its best in the...

This lodge is spelled wrong as listed here - it's actually Chatanika Lodge. Everyone has written about the restaurant but I would like to comment on the lodge. I went there to see the lodge and what they had to offer for consideration for a future visit. You enter through the restaurant and walk to the back where there is...

Took a second trip to the Fairbanks/Cleary Summit area February 2012, and made sure to stop again (twice) at the Chatanika Lodge restaurant. Had a delicious fish 'n' chips meal while enjoying the colorful, rustic surroundings and chatting with local folks at the counter. This is definitely a place worth seeing; bring your camera and be sure to staple a...

Decided to stop here on my last morning in the area. Had a most enjoyable time talking with one of the owners, Shirley, and a couple of other local folks at the counter. We talked over breakfast, which consisted of a *very* generous serving of french toast and bacon. Be sure to bring your camera. The year-round Christmas decorations, including...

The Chatinika Lodge is about 28 miles northeast of Fairbanks on the Steese Highway, about 18 miles east of Fox. Road is paved entire distance. My touring family group of nine from Michigan stopped here on July 1st, 2006 while sightseeing. We had seen and heard mixed reviews but were glad we went. First of all the atmosphere was great,...
