If you want to go back 300 years to the shtetl experience, go to Boro Park! Yeshivas, restaurants, synagogues, people walking about as if they were from an earlier time (and NOT in costume, but for real), then Boro Park is for you. Yiddish speaking. Candy stores on Friday afternoon. People scurrying back and forth getting their Shabbat meals on Friday afternoon. Not to mention the beautiful FLOWERS on every corner, which the Haredim are buying to turn their homes into a special Shabbat place. Great for a 3 to 4 day weekend including the Shabbat. Lots of good shopping. Elzee Ladies wear is exceptional, not to mention the HAT and Sheytl stores. Best in the world. Replica of parts of Jerusalem on Friday afternoon. Don't miss it. The hotel is well located in the middle of it all. First class. Always full so book ahead early.

The location was good for the group because it was in a quiet and safe neighborhood close to a few subway stations. It is a Jewish neighborhood but they treated the non-Jewish guests great. The breakfast buffet was very good. The rooms were very large with one desk as well as a set of table and chairs. Plenty of outlets.

This was not an enjoyable experience. My room was very cold as the windows are old & drafty and the curtains have been removed. The bed is clean & comfortable but the carpets throughout the hotel are old & need replaced. The food was awful… cold the 1st morning, the 2nd morning there was lots of egg shell in the eggs. For the rest of my working week I had to eat out because it was inedible which is ridiculous as this hotel is very expensive. The cleaning & breakfast staff were hard working & pleasant but the reception staff were rude & unfriendly. I could not recommend this hotel.

Awful.

Had booked a confirmed reservation for part of our honeymoon. We were in town to see a concert, eat well, drink excessively and have a nice day and night on the last leg of our honeymoon. Upon our arrival, we were informed that our reservation was "lost" necessitating a trip to my car to retrieve a hard copy print out of my confirmed reservation.

Once located, I was informed that I couldn't check-in at the normal hour of 1 PM, or even at the hotel's posted time of 3 PM, but would have to wait until 9 or 10 and they "would see if they could accomodate me".

The excuse for the abominable treatment and overly brusque handling of my situation? "We are a Jewish hotel". I don't even know what that means to the hotel-booking traveler, actually. But seemingly the desk-clerk found that an acceptable excuse for incompetency and rudeness.

I appreciate them putting me in an awkward, and uncomfortable position with my new bride by my side. I really do.

The plus side is we booked a new hotel that was better, had a friendly and competent staff, and catered to our needs efficiently and professionally.

The minus side is that, in addition to the anger and embarrassment at that moment, they had the nerve to send me a cancellation notice which irked and incensed me again. I have reached out to both the hotel and IHG and have received no response as of yet.

I had a confirmed reservation, yet was informed rudely that it would not be honored the day I tried to check in.

On my honeymoon.

The gentleman at the front desk first "couldn't find" my reservation and then would not honor it until 9 or 10 PM because "it is a Jewish hotel".

I will be contacting IHG, Yelp, Trip Advisor and anyone else who will listen and post my reviews.

On the plus side, we got a room at a nicer hotel than yours.

Getting this, after being denied service on my confirmed reservation, on my honeymoon, in such an abrupt and rude fashion, has angered and incensed me greatly, and caused me great duress and embarrassment.

Stayed last month for a family gathering. I'll start with the good:-

The good: nice helpful staff on reception and in the breakfast room. The room itself was large and the beds were reasonably comfortable. The bathroom was large, clean and with complimentary toiletries. Staff facilitated storage of luggage for a late departure and were happy to give directions, recommendations, and deal with any issues.

The not-so-good: Had a double room at the front of the hotel, and the noise from the street started early in the morning and continued late into the night. Not the fault of the hotel, but perhaps something to be aware of if you can pick a room that isn't facing the main road or the front of the hotel.

We also struggled between the room being freezing and boiling hot if we put the heating on when we went to bed.

There is a coffee machine in the room but you need your own fresh milk to make it truly tasty.

Don't know why, but the lighting in the room is very dim, and we couldn't get the curtains to shut properly. Minor things, but can be irritating.

I think the most disappointing thing for us about this hotel, and the reason I give it a 3 not a 4 rating, was the breakfast. We are probably used to continental style. but we got two trays of cooked eggs (not sure if they were supposed to be omelette or scrambled?), french toast, some plain white and brown bread slices to toast, fresh salad bar and a choice of four cereals (no bran/fibre). There was a bowl of fruit that changed daily, porridge and a waffle maker, but this came without any instructions and invariably people made a mess and wasted a lot of batter (from a bottle) attempted to make a Belgian waffle. It was plentiful but I think we are used to being able to order our eggs and toast to order, and maybe some croissants/bagels/danish. Some pancakes would have been great too, as would a coffee machine offering more than just filter coffee. As breakfast sets you up for the day, and it was included in the price, it could have been so much better, and other guests told me that on previous stays it used to offer more pastries/doughnuts etc.

Breakfast aside, if you need a kosher hotel, this is the place to go. It is conveniently located near the shops and just a few blocks from the subway if you want to go into Manhattan.

Located in the heart of Brooklyn's Chassidic Boro Park along 13th Ave. this European decor hotel with semi-circle wrought iron balconies and dark burl wood furniture is luxurious.

Rooms come with two 3/4 beds or an upgrade to two double beds.

Complementary toiletries go beyond the norm and include toothbrushes, dental picks, mini- toothpaste and mouthwash.

And of course there is a true Shabbat lamp so no timer needed.

Included is a generous buffet breakfast and visiting friends got a 50% discount when added to our billing.

There is also a small parking lot across the street for $20 a day which is a bargain as street parking is overcrowded.

Otherwise the D train to Manhattan and Penn Station is just 5 short blocks away and with prices 1/3 less than comparable Manhattan hotels, it may serve your New York needs.

Best of all, 13th Ave and adjoining streets are a return to 1930s Eastern Europe were streets were filled with bearded Jewish men in black long coats and black top hats and every store was kosher and catered to the frum -- from dresses to hats to shoes to men's coats to bookstores. And every block has at least one yeshiva!

Tip: Concierge staff can be abrupt if you don't look/dress frum but the rooms and overall experience is worth it.
