The Paradise of Ndali strikes the perfect balance between all the comforts one desires for an unforgettable holiday without diluting the magic of Uganda.
As we arrived, our senses began to unfurl. Firstly, the sense of smell: traversing the flower archway, the delicate scent of thyme planted at the entrance gracefully signaling our arrival. Then, Aubry and William's welcoming smiles greeted us, accompanied by the most delightful, fresh blend of passionfruit and pineapple juice. Yet, the true star of the moment reveals itself when, after passing through the dining hall, we are met with one of the most enchanting views I've had the privilege to behold. It's impossible not to sigh in awe when one gazes up through the orchid vines and beholds the crater lake. The emerald hue and hypnotic shimmer of the gentle waves against the sunlight. At this juncture, all else fades away, and one begins to truly live in the present. Your pulse fills with pure air, your ears attuned to every sound, from the birds to the frogs and cicadas. It's an utterly unparalleled experience, all within the initial five minutes of one's arrival. As you stroll along a quaint path teeming with an almost impossibly diverse array or flora, each flower more resplendent than the last, it's as though by some magical spell, you find yourself at a secluded oasis, gazing upon the mountain of the moon with yet more crater lakes sparkle in the foreground. The rooms transported me to another era, with open windows inviting in the fresh air and a bath with a view, like every element meticulously designed to enhance every moment of one's stay. And all of this within the first 30 minutes of one's arrival. Once settled, we returned to the pool area, once again treated to the majestic sight of the mountains and endless kilometers of rainforest, which we later learn were lovingly rewilded by the lodge to prevent deforestation, thus safeguarding this earthly paradise. Throughout our stay, we enjoyed the new tennis court, perfectly nestled in the shade of the trees. We practiced yoga on the lakeside deck, explored the crater lake in kayaks, and engaged in a game of ping-pong after a refreshing dip in the hotel pool. I shan't continue to recount you with tales of my holiday, reserving some surprises for your own visit, but I can assure you that both the cuisine and service are deserving of five stars. Speaking of stars, one can only imagine the celestial spectacle on a clear night at the Paradise of Ndali. (One truly cannot fathom it, you have to see it to believe it) for it is beyond imagination.

Wonderful location above a crater lake on a ridge. Run by an Englishman and his local wife, who looked after us very well. The location of our bungalow had a breathtaking view of the forest landscape (the same view from the bathtub, by the way). In the lodge you can hike down to the lake and go kayaking there. Highlights are the food and the fitness area, a hut without walls from which you can see directly onto the lake. However, the equipment is also exposed to the weather and its condition is accordingly. Wifi in the room, worked very well. There is always enough water, even for brushing teeth. The only problem is the water supply in the bathroom, namely far too little water pressure, so the hot water is hardly usable. Actually strange considering the large amounts of rain in the country... Overall, we would have liked to have spent more time in Ndali.

A beautiful well-established lodge with nine private bungalows that overlook the beautiful valley. Nestled between two crater lakes the surroundings are breathtaking. The food was delicious with ample servings. The staff were helpful, courteous, and friendly. The owners were engaging and responsive. The rooms are sufficiently sized and the water was hot. Overall, it was comfortable with a relaxing vibe. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We also appreciated that the lodge provided drinking water for their guests.

The pompous owner negated the experience at this beautifully located lodge. The location is stunning, and all the meals were excellent. First let me say we love dogs, in fact we used to raise Alaskan Malamutes. We didn’t appreciate though finding muddy dog prints on the rugs in our room. When this was pointed out to the owner, he said it happened when he showed us the room….so in other words he was aware of the issue and did nothing about it. They were also experiencing swarms of gnats as the result of recent rains. The problem started with dinner that evening. There was a problem with the candles staying lit (the only source of light in the room) so the owner put a battery-operated light on our table. Soon there were bugs all over our food, so I turned off the light. I went to the washroom and found that the waiter in my absence had turned back on the portable light and had moved it closer to my food. Unfortunately, my plate now had dead bugs in it. As other guests were in earshot, I didn’t want to bring it to the attention of the waiter. In another instance the bathroom window in our cottage was left open by housekeeping and returning to our room to take a relaxing bath after 6 hours of hiking and dinner I was faced with a bathtub of dead bugs and moths. The bathroom sink was also full of dead bugs. When this issue was presented to the owner the next morning, he was dismissive. In a condescending tone he stated this is not a hotel, this is my house, and I am sorry you didn’t like my house. In other words, he could care less that dogs track mud into guest bedrooms or their dinner and bathroom are full of bugs due to inferior service because this appears to be the norm for this location. I told him that in my house if we have a bug problem, we tell our guests to make sure to close the windows at dusk before they turn on lights to keep them out. He remained unapologetic. For this reason, I cannot recommend Ndali to those who are interested in a copy/paste of my itinerary because I don’t want to risk them being exposed to his rude behavior and the disrespect of guests.

I can't add much to what others have already said about Ndali Lodge - an absolute stunner - a charmer in all ways. Our group of 10 was traveling on a Natural Habitat trip to view primates in Uganda's National Parks, and we were booked into Ndali Lodge for several nights, early in our trip. As others have said, Aubrey and his staff (and the dogs) made us all feel immediately at home. The lodge itself and the setting are beyond beautiful. Just captivating. The spacious rooms are in the colonial style, and are very comfortable, with lovely views, all the usual accoutrements (wifi!) plus plenty of hot water in the bathrooms (tub and shower), fluffy towels, and organic soaps, shampoo, etc. The food in the restaurant (which feels like the family dining room of your dreams) is superb. If you're so inclined, ask about paddle boarding on the crater lake, at the bottom of the hill. A simply lovely, lovely place. Thank you, Aubrey!

We had a magnificent 2 night stay in this superbly located, incredibly atmospheric lodge, which has breathtaking 360 degree views over mountains, farmland and a lake. Aubrey and Clare are very welcoming, always closely followed by their 4 dogs. The staff are attentive; the food is delicious and we only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the ambience and facilities.

We traveled to Uganda to see habituated and non-habituated Gorillas and Chimpanzees in late January 2023. Ndali is a lodge with a rich history of family resilience and fortitude….from over 100 years ago. We had the privilege of meeting the grandson, Aubrey, of the early settlers. This was a spectacular accommodation to also see the Chimpanzees in Kibale National Park. This lodge is nestled around the many lakes of the crater field. Views are stunning! Our room was five star and so were all if the included meals. The staff was polite and informative; and to demonstrate their caring, our table was carried out to the verandah to enjoy the breathtaking flowers and vistas. We had candlelight at our early breakfast. And we felt like home when engaging with their adorable puppies! When one of us did not care for an item of the lunch menu, the response was “what do you like, we can make it”. They all were all wonderfully supportive. We highly recommend the Ndali Lodge. – Bob and Brenda Hofman

We stayed at a few lodges during our Uganda adventure but will be reviewing the stand out ones. Ndali was stand out. Amazing location for the chimp trekking. The owner manages the lodge so if there is anything at all that you need or wish to ask you can be damn sure you will get it! :-). The food was excellent and we certainly did not go hungry We spent 2 nights here and did 1 Chimp Trek. The chimp trekking is an amazing experience (crazy one) but one you will never forget. It is very hard to put into words - just imagine lots of chimps going crazy, screaming and swinging through the trees, truly a bucket list experience. Thank you Ndali for ensuring our stay was perfect, we truly loved every minute.

We stayed at Ndali two nights as part of our safari in Uganda. Ndali is beautiful! We arrived after dark because our safari truck broke down and we had to get a lift from another guide.
Even though we were late, the staff welcomed us with much warmth. We had a fabulous candlelight dinner in the main dining room. You don’t really have a choice of what to eat, but don’t worry, everything they make is delicious. We had two dinners, two lunches, and two dinners. Everything was so fresh! One lunch was similar to a Thai beef salad with fresh cilantro!
We loved our cottage, which had a fantastic view of the valley below. There were wild flowers everywhere. The cottage was very comfortable with a big bed and bathroom. The bed/pillows made for great sleeping.
The grounds are lovely and relaxing. The lodge sits on a ridge between two crater lakes, so the views are outstanding. My husband loved the pool!
You can ask for a wake-up call that includes coffee or tea delivered to your room. Wow!
The owner of the lodge was very kind. As I mentioned, our truck broke down and the owner lent us a car for our tour the next day. Very kind, indeed! I recommend this hotel without reservation.

Ndali Lodge was the first stop on our honeymoon and they certainly set the bar high. It was one of my favorite places I've ever stayed. From the moment we were greeted by the wonderful Ndali team and the canine welcoming committee, we felt right at home. The property is gorgeous and we enjoyed walking around the crater lake and relaxing in the pool with a view of the Rwenzoris - William made sure we were well supplied with snacks and refreshments. Our cottage was charming and cozy (the bed was a touch firm as a heads up for sensitive sleepers). The food was fantastic and we enjoyed meeting other guests in the communal dining area. The packed lunches we took for chimp trekking and travel days were particularly memorable - we're still thinking about the chapatis! I wish I was having breakfast on the back deck enjoying a view of the lake right now. Looking forward to our next visit!

Sorry I thought of a different lodge on that trip. NO No Ndali does not have AC. It does not have electricity in all areas! Lit by lantern and candle in dining room and pathways
