Maweninga is built on a granite outcropping overlooking Lake Burungi on the western side of Tarangire. The camp is well laid out with each tent located in such a way as to provide privacy from surrounding tents. All the tents are built on elevated platforms with private decks offering fantastic views of the surrounding area. Tents are large, well appointed...

Having had a spectacular first day on safari, we possibly wouldn't have noticed any "faults" if there were any! Good camp layout, nice restaurant / bar area, space between tents & lovely individual verandahs. Friendly welcome, but, overall, not all staff perhaps as willing to please as in some of our other stops. None-the-less, we really enjoyed our stay and...

Fantastic two night stay. Service was extremely good, if not somewhat chaotic. At a typical dinner, 3 or 4 individuals would be serving tables in a somewhat random, but enthusiastic way. Rooms were clean and comfortable, each offering a degree of privacy from the decks. For those traveling as a family, the lodge made sure that we had two "tents"...

We stayed here for 2 nights during our visit to the Tarangire and it was my first experience of a tented camp. I was pleasantly suprised as the tents were comfortable and had ensuite facilities. What most impressed me though was the location and views from our private terrace over the Tarangire Park across to Lake Manyara. The tents are...

Up close and personal with Tsetse flies enroute. We loved the Tarangire Park and the Mawe Ninga Camp was placed well. No vehicles by the French tent owners, which we found interesting. The bartender/waiter was an interesting character. When we arrived in the late afternoon, he said "good morning" and that's the way it remained for 3 nights. In the...

The tents at this camp are comfortable, but not elegant. Our tent had plenty of room, a deck with a lovely view, a good shower, sink (but no running water), and a toilet. I was joined on my deck by a curious hyrax, the funny little animals that are everywhere on this property. The common areas of this camp are...

We spent two nights here in late July 2012 and liked it a lot. While it wasn't as luxurious as the other places we stayed in (e.g. Alex Walker's Serian North in the Mara which was truly five star), it was perfectly fine. The bed was comfortable, the showers and toilet were good, and the food was edible. We didn't...

The rooms are beautiful, each with balconies with lovely views. The dining and drinks area is very atmospheric and sitting sipping drinks as the sun sets over the lake and valley was a romantic and relaxing experience. The rock hyraxes are cute and add atmosphere and we were not bothered by Tsetse flies, despite them being a problem elsewhere in...

We spent two nights at Mawe Ninga Tented Camp in December 2011. It is a semi-permanent tented camp operated by the French company, Tanganyika Expeditions/Mount Kilimanjaro Safari Club. The tents are luxurious with a shower and private toilet, running water and electricity. The camp is on a beautiful promontory overlooking lake Burunge. One can see Lake Manyara and the Rift...

This was our first accommodation of a safari organized by Tanganyka Expedition (we stayed at Bashay Rift, Olduvai Camp and Ronjo Camp). We had an absolutely friendly welcome after we saw a stunning african sunset over the lake. The view is really breathtaking: the position and the "architecture" of the camp are excellent. We slept in 2 different tents (as...
