It is a place with good nature. It has big boundary and cool atmosphere. The Khmer wooden houses are clean with enough facilities. The place is also quiet, which is good for relaxing and sleeping. Food and drink are also served there. You are also allowed to bring in your family BBQ.
Walking bare feet feeling the grass as I walked through the garden, past the mango trees, noticing the lichen on its gnarly branches, the sign of age and ecosystems unexplored. This is the one of the original Kampot guesthouses, run by a French-Cambodian family, WhatsApp them for their availability, you can choose to stay in one of their beautiful bungalows or a room in a couple of larger houses. Mine had a balcony which looked over the river to the mountain beyond, standing tall against the moonlight and the purple sky, reflected in the broadness of the river floating by. Talk to the owner about his work volunteering for a community public health charity, coordinating the patchwork of local health centers that serve as lights in the darkness before dawn. Challenge his son to a game of table tennis, he's getting better all the time. Rent a kayak at the first light of dawn, and savor the feel of the mangrove winds flowing over the shimmering surfheads serenading as you ride the morning tide. Could not speak more highly of a place to call home for a while. …
My girlfriend stayed here four nights in her early twenties, and she told me she'd love to return. Immediately I was charmed by the grounds - bikes everywhere, kids playing, games and table tennis, little huts you can sit in by the water, friendly staff... then I saw the bungalows, beautiful cabins on stilts that catch the breeze, with a spacious bathroom, whose roof is open (mosquito netting), making even a shower a luxurious nature experience - you'll hear goats, frogs, birds, maybe even karaoke drifting up the river... Highly recommended. A great place to relax, it would be a little wasted simply to sleep here, you should spend a bit of time here and soak it up. Loved it.
We spent three peaceful nights here in January 2019. You can eat your meals under a thatched roof perched right over the river. You can jump into the river for a swim, and watch the fishing traffic go up and down the river at different times of the day. There's no aircon, but bungalows have a fan and a mosquito net, which was adequate for our needs. We borrowed bikes to ride into Kampot to visit a wonderful bakery for French pastries and visit the Kampot Pepper place. We really enjoyed staying here.
