Our houseboat experience in Xandari Riverscapes was fantastic!! The facilities, staff, food served at the boat were excellent. It was decorated in a lovely way, we especially loved the balcony on the second floor. We did not face any problems at all. Definitely recommended for all travellers.

We only made one mistake here and that was only booking for the one night cruise instead of 2! The Alleppy Backwaters are fantastic and something not to be missed. But even more so Xandari do a fantastic job. We had one of the smaller houseboats. A 4 berth one, but in my view it's the one to get a...

This was an amazing experience, I really felt relaxed and at home the moment I stepped aboard our houseboat, I had been expecting to rough it, but was really surprised to find an air conditioned bedroom and a bathroom with a hot shower! The three guys looking after us could not have been more friendly, and the food was superb,...

We chose the overnight option and were pleased with this decision. We boarded our 75ft long rice boat just in time for lunch, which we ate as we cruised to our first stop. The boat was designed to accommodate two people in considerable comfort and style! We had a lovely air conditioned double cabin with ensuite toilet and shower. We...

Lovely way to see a different side of life. Should have booked a two night cruise! Crew on boat very polite and helpful. Food basic but very well done. They will try to accommodate diets if told beforehand also will adjust strength of spices in dishes. Overnight mooring had good breeze so not many mosquitos. Rooms clean and bathrooms adequate.

Three of us took a houseboat around the backwaters. 3 a/c rooms with ensuite bath. Very comfortable with an attentive crew. Marvelous food. In the afternoon we took a small boat through the narrow channels past families living along the water. A peaceful night far from any traffic.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Xandari Riverscapes Life on the backwaters has a different set of rules. First, since there are no roads we depend on canals, rivers and lakes for our travel routes. Most families have a boat of their own. Children often learn to swim at least as early as they learn to walk-you are likely to see kids splashing in the local equivalent of a playground. Their school buses float, as do the postal vessels delivering to homes here. Even the supermarket floats!River Escapes provides an experience of the backwaters of Kerala in a vessel whose history harkens back to the ancient rice trade of this region while also providing modern comforts. These vessels are designed to balance authenticity and innovation. They are engineered to balance comfort and environmental responsibility - we pioneered the technology now considered the gold standard of emissions reduction. Most importantly they are staffed by members of the local community who are proud to showcase their corner of God's Own Country to visitors.A unique set of waterways in our state's central region allows us to showcase three districts that represent the "rice bowl" of Kerala - all by boat. We started operating our houseboats in 2006 and are now the respected leader on the backwaters in terms of environmental responsibility, commitment to the communities where we bring visitors and in terms of guest satisfaction. ... more   less
