This was good simple place. Little noisy because it is so close to the harbour but I wear earplugs so it does not bother me. The staff was super friendly. It is near by the harbour. It was clean and there was air cordition.
Recently stayed 2 nights at Kembar Inn....had stayed there 5 years previously....easy check in simple rooms ....mine was air conditioned on 1st floor for rp250000 including a good breakfast...it's not a fancy facility but very convenient....clean ....close to the ocean...no complaints for a simple homestay
Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a few nights before heading to Lombok. We paid between 200,000 to 250,000 rupiah. Can't remember exact, but definitely negotiate price. Pros: good location to explore Padang Bai, the shops, restaurants and surrounding beaches. Recommend the bar/restaurant next door, good western food. Air conditioning is sufficient. The breakfast area is pleasant with a good free breakfast, a few different options to choose from on the menu. Staff are nice. Wifi was petty good. Cons: we said on arrival we would be staying 2 nights, but wanted to pay on check out, which they agreed with. However, later that day they told us the room had been booked and we had to move to another room, which we felt was a little inconvenient as we there for a short stay. The staff were helpful with sorting it out though. There were two big damp marks in the bathrooms, not a problem for us but thought it's worth mentioning just so you're aware it's not 100% well kept. One morning at breakfast we did find several maggots in our oranges, although I know it's expected in Asia, watch out, it wasn't very appetising!! I wouldn't reccomend this if you're expecting a really clean b&b, but good for a few nights stay.…
I have stayed at Kembar Inn seven time over the last six years, usually for over a month at a time. I live and work in Asia, so this is where I often (and can afford to) spend breaks. The rooms are very comfortable, breakfast is great and the staff and owners are very special people. They really care, and I have often watched and experienced them go the extra mile to help people out. Also, some of the fellow guests I have met around the breakfast table have become good friends. And there is one great beach nearby--the staff will give you directions. Kembar has air-conditioned rooms if you want, but I've always been comfortable enough with the ceiling fan, and although mosquitoes love me, I don't get bit during the night. I recommend staying at Kembar, but don't book my room, because I'll soon be back.…
We stayed one night at Kembar Inn in Padang Bai. Advised on Lonely Planet, I thought not much could go wrong. And indeed when we arrived, it was quite nice, cheap accomodation with access to the terrace with seaview. But the horror started when we wanted to sleep. I wasn´t concerned with the sound of the nearby bars, (I use Oropax anyway), but it was too hot to sleep. I never experienced such an extreme heat anywhere in the tropics where I stayed. The fan was not much of a help. My boyfriend felt the same. A big minus was also the ABSENCE OF A MOSQITO NET. As we had to leave the window open in hope for fresh air, (which finally let us sleep in the early morning hours), the morning after I noticed probably about 100 mosquito bites all over my body! I´m not exaggerating. This is not only very discomforting, but also dangerous, it was just start of the rain season and dengue fever could become an issue. So I still pray I will be fine. I wouldn´t recommend going in the cheap rooms. Breakfast was below average too. Only plus was the sale of tickets to Gili Air and a half-friendly staff. And the view and working Wifi. …
