Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Awesome private accommodation with great little pool and superb restaurant. Lovely staff and easy walk to other cafes, although food is better here. Spa is amazing, excellent massage and body scrub. Attentive staff. Dived with Hermann - very careful and competent, and the snorkelled in our group had a wonderful guide

Don't let the entrance on the road worry you. The cottages are tucked back away from the road and there is no traffic noise. The room was very clean and the towels were soft and fluffy. It was great to shower looking up at the stars. The breakfast is delicious. Its a 10 min walk to the beach.

I felt lucky to stumble on this gem, I booked through Agoda, the price was on the budget side but the pictures looked nice. It reminded me of its big more expensive neighbor Adi Assri. The rooms are nice, beds mosquito netted and clean outdoor ensuite. It has everything you need. What is best are the staff, they are super nice, very attentive, and the gardens are green and lush. If I visit Pemuteran again I will stay here.

This is our second stay at Mans Cottages and spa. The staff are friendly and attentive, the gardens are beautiful and our room was very clean and comfortable. There is a small onsite restaurant/cafe - it is easy to dismiss this as just a place for breakfast or maybe lunch and to dine elsewhere for dinner. Stay for an evening meal - the food was beautiful, just as good as the larger restaurants and cafes.

Beautiful garden, carefully moaned and filled with trees beneath which cute mosaic paths lay. Rooms are spacious and peaceful, with good beds. Do bring earcuffs for the calls from the next-door mosque, as they can wake you when you sleep in the rooms right next to it... But don't worry if you stay in the other rooms. Superfriendly staff that seeks to assist you the moment you need something. Lots of fruit, pancakes, toast with marmelades and juices for breakfast and good kitchen for lunch and diner.

Room Tip: You do sleep better in the rooms further away from the mosque, which is near the swimming pool.

This place certainly lived up to its Tripadvisor recommendations. We stayed for four nights and loved our hut and semi-open Balinese bathroom. Everything was spotless; staff really friendly and a great touch to come round every evening to light mosquito coils and close the nets around the bed. I am usually eaten alive despite using repellent and wasn’t bitten once! One tip would be to use their map and head to the bio-reef when heading to the beach. The beach nearest to the hotel is unfortunately quite dirty. The bio reef and turtle sanctuary is well worth a walk to

On the + side : Hotel has a nice atmosphere and nice swimming pool Food is good quality at restaurant Room is attractive Quiet place/ no noise from the main road On the - side : Personnel are nice and willing to help but lack basic training (common sense?) and look totally disorganized. Every morning you need to ask them to bring cups and glasses at breakfast (they see that there are none left at the main table but do nothing), to refill the 3 pots that are empty,... You ask for 5 courses at the menu for 5 people they bring you 3 forks and say « sorry » when you ask for 2 more. You ask for a big bottle of water they don’t bring glasses if you don’t specifically ask, and if you ask for glasses they bring 1 when you are 5 at the table. Service is slow (and there are many waiters and personnel preparing food, more than is probably necessary). Location of the hotel is far from the beach. It looks close on the map but there is no direct access and you have to go through the main road. The bathroom of family room is very small and not very practical (you generally end up putting water on the toilet when you take a shower). Excursions and taxis are far more expensive than with (reliable) agencies in town. Before getting in the hotel, we asked them for a taxi transfer from Gilimanuk to the hotel, they proposed 350k and said 300k was the best price they could offer, we ended up paying 150k without negotiating too hard with a very comfortable car. Same for snorkelling at Menjagan or Ijen tours. Overall we still believe it is a suitable option but room is too expensive (even for Pemuteran) given points above, level of service and alternative options.

Response from heyman1, Staff at Man's Cottages & Spa

Dear our lovely guest Greeting from Man's Cottages & Spa First we want to thank you for staying at our hotel We apologize for your inconvenience at breakfast, basically from June to the end of August we have trainees from school for their training ... then we will handle ourselves and will not release our trainees to handle guests ... And for access to the beach we have explained that our hotel does not have direct access to the beach and must pass through the main road, if you look at it from the map clearly the map will not tell if we have a large wall barrier ... We have explained the size of small rooms also online Regarding the price of the room it is already the price of our basic room, snorkeling or our other activities it is the price of our partners, which is our question if you already know that there is a cheaper price from our hotel then why did you choose our hotel to stay and do activities? actually we only organize activities for guests to make it easier to do the activities they want, we also don't force you to stay and do activities with us, all of you choose and of course if you do activities or stay somewhere else you will get different services too .. Thank you very much Regard All staff Man's Cottages & Spa

After 2016 we again stayed at Herman and Miya for ten days and it was great again: the resort is wonderfully quiet, well maintained and beautiful green. You feel like you are in paradise. Our room was modern & neat and was cleaned daily. We were always very happy about the creative towel figures. Everything was perfect for a super-relaxing holiday: the food (international or Balinese) was everytime delicious, the staff always with a friendly smile on the face and worried about our well-being! Whether diving (thanks to Firman, our great guide), cooking class or touring outside - there was nothing more to be desired. The evenings with music and dancing were especially amazing. Everything was perfectly organized by Herman. We can only say: Thanks to all and we will be back!
