I was worried about heading out to such a beautiful island .. I expected kuramathi to be full of pretentious insta hungry couples, how wrong was I.. The island is so laid back floaty dresses and flip flops is all you require for fabulous island nights. During the day we don’t know where everyone went the beaches are beautifully deserted- no fighting for sun loungers! We spent our days watching the harmless black tip sharks - don’t forget your snorkel & mask. Arrival by seaplane is a must, the lounge is beautiful! Views of the different islands and atols are simply something else. Once on the island you’re welcomed with a welcome drink and a cool towel - quick chat with the rep then whisked off to our accommodation. We stayed in a beach villa (44) we were blown away by all of the little details the ‘room boy’ went out of his way to provide. The shower was a bit daunting (outside) but after the second night I didn’t care - quite liberating really! We stayed on an All Inclusive Select basis- highly recommend, we tried all of the 9 restaurants - Palm being our favourite, Not sure about the Duniye restaurant - a bit high brow for the island menu didn’t appeal to my uncultured palette- albeit the food was beautifully served by the all female servers. There’s a few bars along the island all within an easy walk but there’s always a buggy going up & down with plenty of stops. The bars have various entertainment on throughout the week - check boards at the receptions, resident band is pretty good, resident DJ was fantastic - felt sorry for him as no one got up in fung bar, maybe a few more of the fantastic cocktails and we would’ve all been up all night 😉 No downside to kuramathi other than mosquitoes at night, we found the jungle formula spray worked.

We have just returned from a 1 week stay at this fabulous island.

It is the most beautiful place that we have ever been, with amazing staff, the service was outstanding.
It is expensive but but you get what you pay for.

We had a deluxe beach villa for the first 5 nights and then upgraded to a deluxe water villa for the last 2 nights which was just unbelievable!
The beach villa was lovely with a beautiful view just a few feet away from the water, it had a jacuzzi but we couldn’t get it to work unfortunately, the outside shower was strange to begin with but then we got used to it and it was quite nice.
The water villas are just outstanding in the crystal clear water, very modern, with an indoor bath and shower and the most beautiful view, we will definitely book this again when we return!
There is a stocked fridge in all rooms but only water and soft drinks are included, the rest you have to pay for.

Your room is cleaned twice a day and they have beach towels, good hairdryer and an iron and ironing board.

The food is the best food that we have ever experienced on an all inclusive! It was like fine dining every night.
We didn’t eat in the buffet for dinner or lunch, only for breakfast.
We booked SAI so all of the al la carte restaurants are included, you just need to book them 2 days in advance, we didn’t struggle to book any, our favourite restaurants were the Reef and Tandoor, but they are all amazing!

I have never known so many cocktails on a menu, all amazing! And the staff always keep you topped up by regularly asking if you want another drink.
You can take the bottles of wine back to your room and cans of beer if you ask for them to take back, but unfortunately you can’t take cocktails and spirits out of the bars back to your room.

Regarding tips, we just tipped 5 dollars after evening meals and then up just a dollar or two after the end of our drinks and lunch, but you don’t have too, the service is that good we though they deserved it.
Room cleaners do a fab job and it’s recommended to tip between 15 and 20 dollars a week.

The entertainment was surprisingly good, the resident bands are fantastic! We were not expecting good entertainment but it was fab every night.

And finally the grounds, just stunning! I could walk around it 10 times a day and not get bored of that beautiful sea view, you can stop and have a drink in one of the bars on the way around, the infinity pool at the Laguna bar is beautiful, we spent a lot of our time here for late afternoon cocktails watching the sunset. 😍☀️

We are going back for our 10 year wedding anniversary for 2 weeks and can’t wait!!

Enjoy!!!

Stayed at this luxurious resort for 5 nights to commemorate our 40th birthday celebration. All I can say is ‘wow’. The resort is well kept , stunning and truly breathtaking.

We stayed in a beach villa and it was beautiful. Riyaz was our cleaner and he attended everyday and dealt with any queries we had . We had a beach view throughout our stay and everything was close by which in the heat you want a central location .

The beauty about this resort is they have electric buggy’s that have various buggy stops throughout the island where they attend every 10 mins before 10pm then every 20mins until midnight .

Staff are truly attentive polite and cannot do enough for you .

We were on select all inclusive that included premium international brands in all restaurants and access to all a la carte. We ate at them all except Tappanyaki . They were all sensational and the best food I have ever tasted . The chefs are amazing and create all locally produced ice creams too . We are in awe with the place .

If I was to criticise anything it would be that there should be separate smoking areas for smokers .

Everything is is just perfection and you will not be disappointed!

If you are thinking of booking just do it as I would in a heartbeat 💗.
Enjoy x

Absolutely outstanding we stayed here in 2015 for our beautiful honeymoon, attention to detail was so good we would without hesitation return, We booked through Kuoni in the UK and we were then informed works were being done on the island, we were initially worried but we shouldn't have been although extensive works were being carried out on the island it made no difference to our experience. The food was outstanding, the place was stunning, the rooms were all of excellent quality, we initially booked a beach villa and after seeing the huts over the sea and a quick nip to reception to enquire about price it was a no brainier for us. The staff moved all of our belonging to the upgraded room and we couldn't have been happier. We wish anyone that has booked that they enoj it as much as we did!!!

Absolutely loved our holiday to Kuramathi island. From the amazing restaurants to the beautiful white sand beach with azure blue ocean. Food; plentiful, our favourites were the Japanese, Reef and the Beach Bbq, however none of the others disappointed either. Drink; cocktails galore and we enjoyed a glass or two of cava in the champagne loft watching the sun set, they give you half a glass but if you ask for two measures you get a glass full! The select all inclusive is best as otherwise it’s very expensive. Lunch in the Palm is a lovely change from the buffet and a real treat if you finish with the amazing ice creams (no need to book at lunchtime). Room; we had room 228, spot on with a good size beach in front with only a few fellow sunbathers, other areas of the island were rather cramped with sun beds, we were on the calmer lagoon side, ideal for practicing snorkelling before heading out to the reef. Trip; turtle reef, you need to be a reasonably competent swimmer for the boat trip but you can wear a life vest if you are less confident, we booked the trip which stated there was a 90% chance of seeing turtles, when we got on the boat the guide said there was a 50% chance, we saw one which was fabulous but be prepared for none, the fish were plentiful though. Spa; we enjoyed the couples outside Swedish massage, this came with a free facial each, the whole experience was wonderful and worth the expense. Ask for your massages outside over the sea and before it’s dark, it’s stunning. Staff; they are wonderful and can’t do enough for you, always smiling. Sea plane; we took the plane just for the arrival, sadly we sat on the wrong side so didn’t get a great look of the island from above, so sit on the right and get your camera ready! The island is quite large and it took us a few days to figure out where everything was (even with a map), the buggies are very handy, simply jump on and shout to the driver where you want to go and if it’s your villa just shout out the number, even when everyone shouts lots of different numbers they manage to remember them all! Sand bank; out of this world, take a walk and along the way look for the sea life, we saw a manta ray, it was close enough to touch (we didn’t). Tennis; not a great court, not really playable, in need of repair. Kuramathi is ideal for a first trip to the Maldives, it has a bit of everything for everyone.

We booked an all inclusive 6 night vacation through Emirates Airline at a great price. It even included the boat transfers from Male to Kuramathi. The flights were long from USA so I might suggest stopping over in Dubai for a few nights on either end of your trip. Kuramathi Island was beautiful and looked just like the pictures as we arrived. We stayed in an over the water villa with a huge deck. It has a shaded seating area, hot tub facing the ocean, lounge chair seating in the sun and stairs to the ocean. We went snorkeling right from the villa! The waters were the clearest and most beautiful I have seen and I have traveled on all 7 continents. Snorkeling equipment is included. The interior of our villa was beautiful and had windows from the bedroom and bathroom facing the ocean. All meals were buffet and included at the main dining room and the food was delicious and varied each night. There were six specialty restaurants at extra cost and we tried The Reef. We were disappointed. You can walk the island but there are buggy stops where you can catch a ride if you don't want to walk. A sunset cruise was included and that was nice although crowded. The staff at the resort are excellent, helpful and friendly. They keep your villa clean and they even sweep the pathways each morning. This trip was the most relaxing and my husband said he would go back, in spite of the long flights.

My husband and I chose Kuramathi as our main honeymoon destination and we were not disappointed. ✈️
From the minute we got off the seaplane on the jetty and boarded the boat for 5 minutes I knew we were in for a treat and immediately wish we’d have booked to stay longer🏖 🌴
We stayed in an over water villa with pool on the ‘lagoon’ side and it was fantastic.
The room was so spacious and cool with incredible views out onto the ocean because of the floor to ceiling glass doors, you can even bathe looking out to sea 🌊
Our own private deck with choice of sun beds was great and steps into the sea was everything we hoped for.
Soft drinks in the mini bar were free but there was a charge for any of the alcohol but we got round this by getting some cans from the bar en route back.
🍹🍺🍽We opted for the select all inclusive food/drink plan which meant we could eat at any of the restaurants including the a la Carte ones & we could drink virtually whatever we wanted which is good because we drink like fish 🐟 (there are only very few things on the food and drinks menus which has an extra charge if you have this package/upgrade).
We had excellent meals in all of them but the Thai restaurant in particular was our favourite.
We are the freshest range of fish at Reef and it was incredible.
We had lunch every day at Inguru and the waiting staff we brilliant, so happy, chatty, friendly and attentive. Joyce in particular was fantastic. The coconut & chocolate milkshake was sooooo tasty and again, the view out to paradise was breathtaking & we never tired of it.
Drinks in the early evening after exploring the island and sunbathing at Sands bar was so relaxing and we loved the vibe of no shoes, no news.
We enjoyed the sunset cruise with a glass of fizz which was a nice touch.
The only thing which was slightly disappointing was that our room didn’t get decorated with anything honeymoon related (which would have been a nice touch) but we didn’t care as everything else, in our opinion, was amazing and we couldn’t have wanted for more.

Overall good stay.
Disappointed by a couple of things, we would have liked more information on check in, perhaps a tour of the island so we know where everything is.
Having to sign zero dollar bills after every sit down meal and drinks was annoying on our all inclusive plan.
Especially signing for the mini bar in our room, everything that’s included should just be topped up when it’s been used. Water should always be topped up.
Having one restaurant designated for our entire stay breakfast, lunch and dinner. It would be nice to have access to other buffet restaurants for a change of scenery.
Our jacuzzi water was smelly when we arrived, the water was replaced the next day but that is something that should be checked before arrival.
The buggy’s should be more frequent around meal time, we found ourselves waiting for the next buggy numerous times as the ones that passed were full. On one occasion the driver recognized us on his return trip and asked people to push in to allow us to fit.

All that being said the island is beautiful, the island itself is big so it was nice to explore, the grounds are well maintained, we had a wonderful time snorkeling and enjoyed our sunset boat trip. The food at our buffet was very tasty and the bartender at dhoni bar was very friendly and made us some lovely cocktails.

We stayed in an overwater villa for the entire trip. The villa was absolutely stunning. The cleanliness in the entire resort was great as this was a big concern of mine being in a pandemic. We had a Balinese massage which was incredible. We loved the spa and gym facilities.
There's a huge variety of food including something from vegetarians and vegans. There is a buggy taxi on site to take you round the island (the taxi staff, spa staff and waiters are very helpful). The speedboat and seaplane were both quick and easy to transport you to and from Male.

Negatives:
We had to wait an hour after the usual check in time because our room was still not ready. This was frustrating as the overwater villa was not cheap and so we were sitting in the lobby waiting for our room key to be given to us which meant we wasted a lot of time sitting around.

What a wonderful relaxing trip. We traveled from the capital via speedboat (note this is a large boat). After checking in we were taken to our Deluxe beach villa.

The bed had been nicely decorated

We were on the all inclusive which allows you to drink and eat without paying. Well you pay for it in the price.

Within less then 15 seconds you were on the beach. Enjoying the ocean water and beautiful skies.

We wonder why there was an umbrella in our villa. Well it does rain, so we got use to taking it with us, but after a downpour you can be out on the beach pretty soon.

I got used to walking everywhere barefoot and if you wanted to go further you could wait at buggy stops and get transferred by them. If they weren’t full, you can stop them as well at any time.

The food and drinks were amazing. Either eat at a buffet restaurant or an a la carte restaurant. I will do separate reviews for them. The waiters and waitresses in the bar were always checking if you wanted another drink.

Our house keeper was amazing, as well as on the arrival, he did other presentation on the bed including making rabbits and swans out of the towels. He kept our rooms and outside area very clean.

Even in the shallow water, we saw some incredible colour fish and watched a stork type bird stand for ages before catching them.

Especially during these pandemic times, I would love to be back there, relaxing on the beach or in the ocean or at a bar.

Yes it’s not cheap, but celebrating something special it was well worth it!!
