Stayed here for a weekend and thought the place was nice. Full of New Orleans Charm (Clawfoot bathtub, in fact you enter the room through the bathroom). Wonderful little neighborhood with some real local gems to eat or drink at very close by. Definitely a refreshing alternative to the overcrowded touristy places in the French Quarter. Breakfast was a letdown....

I came to New Orleans to attend the Jazz & Heritage festival 2012 and stayed for a week here. The area called Marigny is close to the French Quarter and a very up and coming district with many new coffee shops, restaurant and bars. But the highlight would have to be the hospitality provided to myselft and my 5 friends...

Nice B&B, well organised. Nice room, friendly owner, good breakfast. This is a good choice if you want to see New Orleans.

Carl was a wonderful host. His home is lovely - we stayed in the red room with its own private entrance - this was nice to have! We loved our stay, sitting on the porch, walking all over and returning to our room. Carl has a wealth of knowledge about everything New Orleans has to offer!

We loved that the location was out of the noise of the French Quarter, but only a short walk away. Carl knows the city well and was always quick with recommendations. We also loved talking with the other guests at breakfast (which was healthy and delicious) and comparing notes about what we had seen the previous day. The hot tub...

Carl is a welcoming host & makes you feel like a friend who is coming for a visit, not an anonymous guest. The house is in a neighborhood that has fairly recently been gentrified, relatively close to the crowds of the French Quarter. When we arrived Carl gave us a map, and walking directions to restaurants, etc., & made sure...

Very well looked after at this brilliant B&B with lovely host Carl. Good breakfast, good location, good conversation and really felt well looked after. 10 mins walk to Frenchman Street and French Quarter with decent shops, cafe's and bars nearby. Carl is very knowledgeable too and gives good advice and maintains a great open atmosphere. Love the neighborhood, very friendly...

My husbo & I stayed at The Burgundy for the last part of our epic honeymoon road trip across the US. I was slow to like New Orleans, however the Burgundy was a shining light of comfort! The house is beautifully presented. You get a great choice for breakkie, the hit tub is wonderful after stomping around all day &...

We booked this online not knowing anything about it except for the glowing reviews. We were not disapointed. Carl was a great host and knew the area very well. He was always available if you had any questions. We came in late every night and woke up to fresh coffee in the morning with a nice selection of fruits, perserves...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
