We stayed here for our first visit to NOLA, and from the moment we were buzzed in the front door, we were in awe. This is like no hotel we'd ever stayed in. It has a very charming, vintage feel, and the staff was excellent. The rooms are beautiful, clean and spacious. Everything smells like a spa. We did pay...

Staying in the Lamothe House was a great experience. The beautiful courtyard, the friendly staff, and the comfortable room added to our New Orleans experience. Located just a short walk from the popular Bourbon and Royal streets, and just steps away from Frenchman, this hotel lets you enjoy the French Quarter without the need to take a taxi. Great place...

The Lamonthe House is a historic home converted to hotel rooms. It's very charming! However in the house across the street where we stayed, you could hear everything from the room next door...talking, snoring, the toilet flushing. We were able to sleep with our noise app on our phone so it wasn't a big deal for us. Also, the floors...

The location was perfect, just steps from great music and food. Our room was fabulous, very comfortable and romantic. The staff was very accommodating. The hotel was a lovely piece of history not far from the French Market. We will definitely return.

The Lamothe House is a nice hotel near the French Quarter. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The building could use a little TLC like fixing the stairs up to the two bedroom suite but the room was clean and comfortable. We would stay there again.

I was charmed the moment I entered the foyer in this gem of a hotel. The front house is original and spectacular. I scored a room, first floor, directly behind the pool. Even tho it was close I never heard one sound from the people enjoying themselves into the night. The room was super comfy, modern and spacious with lovely...

This Guest house is very conveniently located a block away from Frenchman street. It also was close to some great eateries, namely Horn's, Ruby Slipper, Coop and The Verte Mart. You could hear the Jazz music playing from our room although it wasn't't that close to be annoying. We even had a great patio attached to our room so we...

Historic property near French Quarter and Royal Street. Friendly and accommodating staff ensured comfortable stay. Room provided basic necessities including wifi. Those accustomed to antique surrounding will enjoy the property's rich history and vibe; however, accommodations are eclectic and may not be suitable for business travelers.

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled in the ancient oaks of Esplanade Avenue, the ornate architectural detail of the past meets modern comfort and convenience in our restoration of the historic Lamothe House hotel. Featuring an elaborate courtyard accented by mature landscaping, a garden pond, and a refreshing pool, peace and relaxation are just steps away from the thrill the Crescent City has to offer. In addition to 30 guest rooms refinished in traditional style, five Grand Antique Suites have been preserved from the original 1839 construction of the home of Jean Lamothe, a wealthy sugar cane planter of French descent. Furnished with antique furniture & artwork, the detail and charm that exemplifies old New Orleans is accessible to today’s traveler. Not to be overlooked is the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood the Lamothe House calls home. Here visitors will find Frenchmen Street, often referred to as “the local’s Bourbon Street”, which features some of the best local music and cuisine found in the French Quarter.Whether it’s your first or your next visit to the Big Easy, find the authentic New Orleans experience you are searching for at the Lamothe House. ... more   less
