Stayed here with grandchildren 4 days in August. Had one of two rooms on the 2nd floor that had a sizeable balcony with table and chairs looking out on Decatur St. Able to watch the traffic (parades, bicycles, steamboats, trains) as well as the pedestrians. Our room had plenty of space with a wardrobe, 2 queen size beds which were comfortable and a television. Steps led up to the balcony. Period heavy drapes adorned the wall to wall windows. Our room was ready even though our flight was early. Wayne at the front desk was helpful and wonderful to deal with and talk to. An exceptional bell captain was Eric in providing information. I will mention there is no public laundry here but there is a pickup and drop off service. We were able to adjust the temperature in the room. Second part of our group arrived 3 days later and had a room overlooking the courtyard. Their room was actually two rooms, one a sitting room and the other 2 queen beds. Very nice. Check out was before our cruise check in and we were able to leave out luggage while we had lunch and went to a movie. This would be my first choice of hotels again

Quaint, centrally located hotel. It served as a great home base during our time in New Orleans. The rooms have nice touches like exposed brick and local artwork, but they could use some updating. That being said, the low price made it a great value, especially given its amazing location - seriously, can't stress enough how amazing the location is! Close to everything, yet far enough from Bourbon that you don't hear the noise!

Staff very nice and accommodating. I Requested a certain room when booking, and was told it would be put in the system. Needless to say upon checking in, we did not get the room I requested to book. I asked to switch rooms and they gave us a bigger room, bigger bed, plus what I originally asked for at the same price despite the room costing more. Also asked for more towels upon arrival and instead of getting just a couple they gave us 5 extra towels. Any time we had a question they were very helpful. They were always willing to help out in any way they could too. Our keys stopped working after the first night, and they had them fixed within a couple of minutes. The staff would go out of their way to ask about how our night went (when doing tours and such) and always spoke to us anytime we passed by making small talk (which was a LOT). Everything was also within walking distance between the French quarter, aquarium, casinos, etc. The only negative thing we came across was there are not any refrigerators in the rooms. But I will definitely book here again.

Yes, this place is in a perfect location for doing most everything. But oh the misadventures we had during our stay. When I started my trip planning, the room I looked at cost $187 and when I booked it, it had jumped to $319/night. They told me they would bill me for one night deposit, but when I checked my credit card account, they had actually billed me for 2 months so I had to call them. When we arrived in New Orleans, the NCAA basketball fans had taken over the city and it was chaos on Decatur Street. I was lucky enough to get one of the 2 spots in front of the hotel to allow us to unload. Once we settled into our room, we noticed we had been given a handicapped room on the pool/patio which included a shower curtain that came down halfway plus a thermostat was was mounted low on the wall. In addition, our TV did not work and one of the towel racks was hanging low since the screws had come out of the wall. We called for help and these issues were fixed promptly. Housekeeping became another challenge because they just do not want to provide full housekeeping services, which we did request from the get go. No housekeeping was provided on our first morning so we complained and got the garbage and soiled towels taken and got new towels. The next day was fine but the third day nobody came again. The room itself is very dimly lit and has no fridge, microwave and the hotel does not provide breakfast. Our room was on the courtyard and we had trouble sleeping because several guests were talking loudly in the courtyard way past midnight. We tried to get some drinks from their vending machine and it would not take cash or credit card, so we had to go to Walgreens.
The other huge issue for us was parking. Due to the NCAA Final Four, they took over the lot this place usually uses for their guests. French Market Inn charges you $46/day to park and I was given directions to one of their alternate lots. Upon departure, it was determined I was in the wrong place and would have to pay that location for parking and get the $46 charge off my bill. It took me 30 minutes to get out of the parking lot.
To their credit, this hotel did take care of me financially. I spoke with General Manager, Brad Valentino, who gave me a very generous credit to my bill and apologized for all the problems we encountered.

Pros: If you want to be in the French Quarter in NOLA this is the place to stay. Walk out the front door and you are there. The location is perfect. It's close to the river, to tour pickups, and Bourbon Street is only about 2 or 3 blocks away. The hotel itself is absolutely charming and with a fascinating history. I can't say enough good things about the staff who were all helpful, friendly and professional. The bed was very comfy. The court yard is adorable. We felt very safe there. We also found extremely reasonable rates online when we booked. Maybe the rates are lower for the rooms right by Decatur.
Cons: our room was overlooking Decatur St and it was terribly noisy all day and all night. (And this was after Mardi Gras). Cars revving engines, drunks singing and laughing, trains blowing their whistles. It was very hard to get a good nights sleep with all of the noise all night long. (Ask for a room AWAY from Decatur street). The hotel is very old (200 years) and the physical state of our room reflects a much needed facelift. If you like new and shiny then this Inn is not for you, The room we got was a mini room. It was fine for us because we weren't in there much but if you are in your room often it might not be the best choice because there was no desk or chair. Just a bed and a nightstand on each side. Also, the bathroom was not very clean when we first got there. A couple of stray hairs in the tub - that sort of thing. It got better as we stayed for a week.

This was our second stay at this hotel and we love the location. Our last stay had several issues specifically with the bathroom and cleanliness which we reported and were assured it would be corrected. Sadly our bathroom cleanliness and maintenance in a similar courtyard room were present on this stay. Our room was not cleaned during our 3 night stay and I personally bought wipes and cleaned our sink and toilet so we could be somewhat assured of cleanliness. There is dirt from crumbling bricks next to the toilet as noted in the picture posted. The bathroom fan is corroded with dirt and the shower curtain is visibly soiled and has mildew across the entire bottom. Our lack of service was reported to the front desk.

We were due to stay at this hotel in April but due to the Coronavirus we now cannot travel. We paid the full amount at booking months ago and were not sure we would get a refund. However following an email to the hotel requesting a refund this was granted with no hesitation or questions. This is excellent service and once the world gets back to some normality and we take our much longed for trip we will be back.

Thank you

This was a great place to take my wife for her first visit to New Orleans. All of the hotel staff were exceptionally helpful and a great source of information. Everyone/hotel staff loved the city of NO and that made our experience all the better. We had a nice comfortable room facing an interior court yard - so no noise... and for a great price. I advise getting the hotel arranged off-site valet parking - $34 because there is no overnight parking. Everything in the French Quarter including Jackson square, Bourbon Street, House of Blues, were walking distance from the hotel. My only regret was that we didn't have more time to explore. We'll definitely be coming back to the French Market Inn.

Our stay away the French Market Inn for our twentieth anniversary was a great experience from start to finish. We had never visited New Orleans before and we weren't sure what to expect. The room we got overlooked St. Louis st. with exposed red brick walls, exposed beam ceiling and a king sized bed. My wife is a light sleeper and had problems sleeping the first couple of nights due to noise from the street (I didn't hear a thing). Ashley at the front desk was very sympathetic and was able to get us into a different room by the end of the third day. This room had a private balcony overlooking the courtyard and was far quieter at night. The hotel staff were all courteous, helpful and were able to answer all the questions we had about the city. We would like to thank Ashley, Lonnie, Sara and the rest of the staff for making our anniversary trip one to remember!

This was our first trip to New Orleans and was a little spur of the moment to visit family. After searching for a decent priced hotel which is walkable to everything, I found the French Market Inn. We booked two queen bed rooms. Both were spacious and beds were comfortable! The staff was so friendly!! They would say "Hi" each time we came and went and helped by making sure my father-in-law had the correct room due to some mobility issues. Employees also regularly opened doors for us and held our luggage on our last day because of a later flight. The beautiful courtyard area was an added bonus! We enjoyed our 2 night stay! Would stay here again and highly recommend!
