In an area with a number of motels and quaint cabins this is the place to stay. The cabins are cozy, simply furnished and the owners the nicest host we've had. Would we stay here again -- you bet. Thanks Ann, John and your family for making our stay in Custer a memorablel one.

We loved staying at the Shady Rest. The cabin was cozy, clean and convenient to everything. Ann is very friendly and helpful. Very peaceful environment, yet close to town. Enjoyed relaxing in the hottub, sitting on the swing on the porch every evening.

If there’s a nicer person in the world than this motel’s proprietor, I’d like to meet them. Ann was hospitality itself. She gave me lots of tips on the town and seeing Mount Rushmore, and offered me her phone number in case I needed anything while in the area. The cabins are

This family run historic motel is a great value for the Black Hills. We like to stay here for our base of operations during the Sturgis Rally. The cabins all have a kitchenette with dishes and flatware and one or two pans. There is a covered charcoal grill and patio chairs on

Hello and thanks for your question! You are welcome to contact us at 605-673-4478 to get a price for a cabin. Each of our Cabins have different layouts and each usually receive a discount for an extended stay. For this summer (2018), our single room cabins (those that sleep four or less, plus the Bunkhouse) typically rent for $80-$110/night. With a stay of three or more nights, those same cabins rent for $72-$99/night plus tax. We also have four cabins (5, 6, 8, and the Hunting Lodge) that have more floor space and at least one private bedroom each. They rent for a bit more, but are usually quite affordable for families. Each of our cabins also has at least a kitchenette, private bathroom, deck or covered porch, access to a hot tub, heat, A/C, WIFI, and cable TV. Both my husband and I were former USNPS Park Rangers in the area and are so willing to help you and your family find the activities that will help you have a fantastic stay. Just give us a call at 605-673-4478 and we will do our best to help you have a great stay in the Black Hills. God bless! Ann and John Dvorak

how much does it cost per night?
Thanks for asking! Each of our cabins is unique and their rates vary depending on the number of guests, time of year, and length of visit. We do offer a 10% discount for stays of three or more nights. Really, it is easiest to call us at 605-673-4478 to ensure that we match you with the cabin that best suits your needs and budget. You can preview floor plans for each of our units on our CABINS page on our website. I hope this information helps. Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
