The very few staff which are working there are very friendly and helpful and dobthe best they can to make the guest feel welcome.
The room and the public areas are very clean . Check in and check out worked well.
There is no bathing reserve for the hotel guests.
The room was very small and did not have a balcony as in the description, the window was unhinged and jammed , there is not even one chair in the room to sit down
The breakfast buffet is of very low quality with cheap as possible cheese smallgoods ,warm juices, lousy coffee , unripe fruit and portion control plastic jams of poor quality.
For the prices charged its poor value for money .

I can not recommend this hotel/restaurant enough! My family and I had forgotten to make dinner reservations upon our arrival into another nearby St Gilgen hotel. Our own hotel was not able to accommodate us and we were told we would now not be able to find a place for dinner. My husband inquired at Restaurant Radetzky and the sweet hostess/chef Katrina Velrova brought our party of nine (!) into her beautifully designed restaurant. With sweet smiles, she and her daughter Valentina, along with one additional sweet girl from Spain, served us a delicious dinner and dessert. It was a wonderful evening and we left well-fed and more than happy that we'd found this little spot! I can not speak for the hotel rooms since we did not stay at this hotel but I would not be surprised if they were very well-cared because of the character of Katrina and her husband (whom I met the next day). I could not recommend Restaurant/Hotel Radetzky more!

Staying at the hotel was an overall charming experience during our trip to St. Gilgen. The hosts were very attentive, ensuring we had interesting plans each day. The rooms are old, yet very clean. The buffet breakfast was European style and elegantly laid out. In terms of drawbacks, we would have expected more amenities in the bathroom than two very small bars of soap for four nights. Also, while a third floor room with a balcony might sound attractive upon check in, climbing the stairs can get tiring. For those who do not naturally rise at 6 am, the church bells nearby will wake you up.

Room Tip: Forego the balcony and choose a first floor room. I think that all rooms will hear the church bells.

Stayed for 2 nights during late September. The hotel is located 150-200 meteres from the waterfront, which served for beautiful evening and morning strolls. It was decorated with various Austrian niknaks and lamps which gave it an authentic touch.
The owner was very friendly and recommended great sights and restaurants in the area. Breakfast in the hotel was very satisfying (eggs, assorted cheese and cold cuts, assorted breads, yogurt and cereal, juices and coffe or tea).
Our room was a little small but had a very comfortable bed, a safe, a redecorated bathroom and free (and fast) Wi-Fi.
Only cons were that there are no elevators and rooms are located in the 2nd and 3rd floors so it might not be considered handicap accesable, the water needed to run for a minute before it got warm and the TV in the room, which we didn't need anyway and didn't try out, was very small.
To sum it up, We had a great time staying here and felt the owner showed true hospitality.

We returned from our trip to Austria three days ago. We stayed in this hotel two nights. And what had happened there...My friend saw a cat in the lobby. He pated it and then took it out . He just took it out of the lobby and put near the entrance. One of the girls (she served breakfast) began to cry on my friend and hit him twice! We went to talk with the owner of the hotel but he kept silence during our talk...Then we knew this girl was his daughter....What should we do in such situation!?

The building does have some age but extremely well kept. Gerd gives excellent recommendations for site seeing based on the weather. We were particularly pleased with the location of St. Gilgen, small and slow paced with plenty of restaurants and things to do. We took a day trip to Hallstatt, originally wanting to stay there. Glad we discovered St. Gilgen and Hotel Radetzky as Hallstatt was overrun with tourists! A walk through Hallstatt and highly recommended Salt mine tour there is a good day trip from St. Gilgen. The funicular to the top of the mountain is an easy walk from the hotel.
Thank you Gerd and wife for a great stay.

The good news: this is a friendly, clean, comfortable place to stay, right in the very center of charming St. Gilgen.

The bad news:
You can find the same room elsewhere nearby for less money.

If loud, early morning church bells might bother you, this is not the place to stay!

Comfortable rooms, delightful “full-European” breakfasts, and Bavarian hospitality. The proprietor Gerd became our personal concierge - suggesting mountain trips and lake excursions to fit the weather and time of day and restaurants. St Gilgen is a perfect home base for exploring the towns on Wolfgangsee and the Salzkammergut region. We visit nearby Bad Ischl regularly and will insist our colleagues visit the Radetzky Hotel.
