We stayed here for a week in January for a skiing holiday with Crystal ski. We were warmly welcomed after a late arrival due to snow and offered hot soup despite the late hour. We found our room to be clean and comfortable. We made use of the ski and boot room (although this would have been better with lockable lockers to prevent kit being moved by other guests). The hotel is well placed for a manageable walk in ski boots to the nearby lift or ski bus stops. We made use of the lovely pool and spa facilities and enjoyed these. But best of all was the food. The food and the fantastic service in the restaurant was exceptional. We also found the bar area lovely and enjoyed drinks there before or after dinner. We enjoyed the entertainment provided too - music at dinner, local dancing in the lobby area.…
We were a party of 11 , the hotel is big with plenty of chill out spaces to sit, breakfast was very good, the food on the first night was top draw and the rest of week okay to average not up to the usual high standard we’ve come across in Austria except for the last night which considering all non Austrian staff had been let go, (though a member of our party spotted some in reception being told in no circumstances not leave there rooms) the buffet style food was excellent. Even allowing for the stressful time with the uncertainty of Coronavirus we didn’t find the staff as friendly as normal, one of the receptionists was fairly rude a few of our party stated this, the hotel is a 5 min walk to ski shop and lift get a locker saves a whole heap of hassle. Our room was good and apart from one rowdy night ( outside noise) was fairly quiet. Overall it is a nice hotel with good facilities we travelled with Chrystals ski.…
We stayed at this hotel for one week travelling with Crystal Ski. First impressions were great - the hotel is a mix of modern & traditional and much bigger than I had anticipated. Check in was quick and as we arrived past 9pm the hotel had put on a buffet for dinner which was all of very good quality. Comfort rooms were a good size and very clean. Comfy beds and nice bathroom, plus Elemis products. We slept well most of the time although on the first two mornings we were woken around 6am by vehicles/lorries reversing down the street. So I can see why recommendations are for rooms on the side with the stream as this is probably quieter. Food was excellent and good quality. The bar was nice and all serving staff were friendly and quick to serve. It’s quite a quiet atmosphere despite some evening entertainment but that was fine with us. Comfy seating and ideal to play games after dinner. Location wise, it’s about a 5 minute walk to the City Express gondola. We hired a locker with our skis at Hervis sports close to the lift, so this alleviated the task of carrying skis or walking in boots from the hotel. You can request a lift to the gondola via the hotel though. And then about the same, 5 mins to the town centre where the shops bars and restaurants are. We didn’t hear any noise from bars etc late at night so a good position. Finally the pool/spa. It’s nice, a good choice of steam rooms and saunas etc. Personally I don’t see how not wearing a bathing suit is more hygienic but at least you can wrap a towel around you. Fortunately we had the spa to ourself on most visits ;) The only downside is the poor availability for treatments. Having read reviews on here, we decided to book in advance. Not ideal when you’re a skier and it’s difficult to anticipate which days you may be back earlier to be able to go for a treatment. Plus even in advance, there were very few appointment times free and we were offered early daytime slots. Eventually after a lot of back and forth via email I booked just one 30 minute treatment early evening. On the day of the treatment, it became apparent that a mistake had been made by reception and my booking hadn’t actually been made. It wasn’t handled at all well and I got no apology from the unhelpful receptionist, who I then realised was the one who had sent the confirmation email so she obviously didn’t want to take responsibility for her mistake. I was told there were no other evening slots, but then when I asked a second time, one magically became available. We asked to speak to a manager about the issue experienced here and was told that it ‘would do no good’. We said we wanted to be contacted anyway but we never heard anything. I can only assume the receptionist was a family member. Had this been handled correctly then the review would have got 5 stars from me. The treatment itself was excellent and the therapist was lovely. On our last night, we found out that the resort was closing due to Coronavirus. All the staff had gone and so the family and management team served dinner and breakfast. The food was just as good quality as it had been all week and it was so sad that the staff had gone. The team should be commended for their efforts here and I hope the hotel opens again soon. I would recommend this hotel and would consider staying again.…
We were a party of 7 adults and we had the most wonderful time. My partner and I stayed in here last year and we loved it so much we brought our family back. We stayed in the deluxe room. The location is great: walking distance to city express, the lake is nearby and the main town with the Apres Ski is close too. Food: breakfast and dinner was delicious with a good variety of choices. I love that we had the same Table everyday too, it was comforting knowing we didn’t have to fight for a table everyday. Our waiter Vincenzo was first class. We enjoyed the spa and the bar area too, we used go down for a round of cards and a drink before heading up to dinner each evening. On our last evening the waiting staff who were mainly Italian had been sent home after breakfast service. Austria was due to close their borders so the Italian staff had to leave to get home to their families which is understandable of course. The hotel owner drafted in his family to help with the dinner service that evening and it was all seamless and nothing was too trouble. They had to put on a buffet rather than a four course dinner but that didn’t matter as they had all the menu options available. The hotel owner was even clearing tables with a smile, it didn’t impact our experience at all. We can’t wait to go back, such a special hotel.…
- Great location: just 5 minutes walk from cityXpress Cable car, inside the historic center, near all bars, restaurants, and the lake of course! - Excellent breakfast: nice selection, good quality, great service, huge breakfast sitting area (props to Roberta and the very nice lady making our omelettes) - Very nice rooms: ours was a bit on the small side for 2 persons (and that was my only letdown) and the shower cabin was a bit too tight. Other than that, no complaints can be made. Room was serviced daily, beds were comfy, heating was adjustable, windows could recline, everything was functional and handy. The hotel has a lot more to offer that we did not really use: A very nice bar area (with live music sometimes), Spa/sauna, a huge fireplace near the entrance etc. Would I come back to Tirolerhof? Certainly. Finally, Zell am See offers a quite lively apres ski bar scene and a very nice selection of restaurants (local, international, vegetarian).…
