So, if you are looking for a budget hotel ..stop reading. This is “erste Klasse“, you pay and will get everything you need. The hotel is very modern, not at a traditional Austrian hotel. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The every day cleaning is flawless. The breakfast is very.. I say very good… if you have included spa in your stay, you will enjoy something special… there different saunas.. spacious areas to relax… if you want to take a swim.. the hotel has two … indoor and outdoor.. it’s up to you…

Why I love this hotel is that the service is great and the atmosphere is .. well it’s really relaxing.. you don’t get the feeling of that you are staying at a railway station.. if you get the feeling….but the downside is that you have to pay for this … well you only live once…

Stayed for a week with my wife, had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend. Breakfast is amazing so would suggest you stay on a B&B basis.
Location is very good with car park and bus service at the top of the road, easy access to Zell and Areit express

I have just returned from a 4 day Xmas break at the Mavida Balance Hotel. I have only ever experienced such an excellent level of service at the Ritz Carlton in Berlin. The hotel has only been open a week & as expected everything was new, sparking clean & to a very high standard. We checked in on the evening of 24 December & were greeted by a very efficient receptionist who appeared to be waiting for our arrival and she was just as helpful throughout our stay. In fact every member of staff was on hand to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I choose the B&B option & breakfast was great (& very healthy) a large selection of bread & jam, eggs, pancakes, pastries, cold meats, freshly squeezed juices, cereals - much more than just a continental breakfast.

Free WiFi access - the signal was weak in my room so I just headed down to the library area in the reception where I connected without any problems and sitting there was relaxing taking in the ambiance. Satellite TV although only 1 English channel (CNN). No minbar but I just used the balcony to chill the drinks, as it was so cold outside. No room service menu but the kitchen were more than happy to provide a meal (even after the chef had gone home for the evening) & I guess most people would choose the half or full board option - which is well worth paying for.

The hotel & room was so extremely comfortable & luxurious with a window so large at the foot of the bed with the view of the mountains to wake to, it was hard to drag us away from the hotel room, you had the choice of pillows or and you could have a harder or softer mattress at your choice.

After a day on the slopes (which is only 5min walk from the hotel or 5min by taxi to Zell am See town) the trendy bar was welcoming with its massive wood fire & a great selection of pastries & cakes on offer.

The Spa gets 5 stars & the pool area was superb, fresh water. After a swim there’s heated waterbeds to relax with just the sound of water, it was just perfect.

This hotel’s service is defiantly up there with the top hotels, which I have stayed, such as the Ritz Carlton Berlin ,Rey Juan Carlos Barcelona, Kempinski Frankfurt and The Paris Paris. At a cost of 300euros per night it was a small cost for a great Christmas.

If you want to mix of luxury, trendy design, relaxation with the odd trip to the slopes then the Mavida Balance Hotel is an absolute must.

The hotel rooms have no air conditioning, no mini fridge, no kettle/coffee machine, no iron or ironing board, only the stark bare minimum is provided. Even charging points are scarce.
When we asked for a fan in the room, they provided one, but not before we were told that it may not be available.
Ahmed at the front desk was kind and helpful, as was the staff at their breakfast cafe. The other person at the desk was very curt and not hospitable at all.
Don’t come during the summer to stay here, unless you don’t mind sweating it out in your room

Dear guest, thank you for taking your time to write us your feedback. Please note that it is not common in our areas to have air conditioning the rooms at all. If you really like to have air condition please ask the hotel in advance if they provide it. We do provide mini fridge in the higher room categories not the one you have booked. But we always offer to put your things in our fridge at the reception if you like to cool something. - We are here 24 hours daily so no problem to access. Coffee maschine/kettle our bar and reception are happy to provide you with everything you need - 24 hours as mentioned at the reception. We still hope you have enjoyed your stay in Zell am See. Best regards Family Haidvogl and Team

Hi,
My family and I, stayed at the hotel for a week in august.
We stayed at the deluxe room which its location is terrible. It has a rail-way train passing by every few hours, and you can't sleep continueously.
The room was very small, the bed was uncomfortable, and we didn't even have a normal chair to sit on, infront of the table in the room.
The reception personal were not helpful at all and did not have information about things too do in the hotel area, even on the things that were shown on the website of MAVIDA. Their answer was: "go to a diferent hotel for the activities you want...".

The worst of all, was that the reception manager, insinuated that we have "also a child" in a referance as if we are snicking him in to the hotel, although he was one the four we booked - HOW RUDE!!
The food is graet and the restaurant personal are very very nice.

I have to say, I loved everything about this hotel. I came to the area to ski with my husband, daughter and friends and never before experienced the level of luxery, personal attention and friendliness. Our room was well laid out, spotless, modern and so comfortable; the bathroom a delight and the spa area was the ultimate in chilling out. The staff engaged my daughter to converse in elementary german as she had just started to learn the language. Forget apres-ski! The apple strudel and hot chocolate in Mavida was blissful.! The only area that could be improved was the relaxed pace of the breakfast staff. We were up and anxious to get to the slopes so we could return and enjoy all that the hotel had to offer but we experienced some delays and mix ups at breakfast time. nevertheless I am counting down the days to my return visit next spring!!

I booked this hotel out of choice as nothing good was available online. It was an expensive stay for 3 nights I had to shell out 626 Eur. It's not worth the money you pay for. First of all they are not partners with the Zellamsee summer card which is the biggest draw back. If you have the summer card then you literally don't have to pay a penny for local transport, mountain visits and many more. But unfortunately I had to shell around 200 Eur just to take the local transport and excursions. It's located a little far from the city centre but you can always hire a bicycle. The room decor is lovely. Again, housekeeping doesn't function beyond 16.00 hrs (help yourself). Rooms do not have bathroom slippers, hand napkins/ tissue paper, tea/coffee maker. Otherwise the hotel staff is quite helpful. The breakfast was also fine. To get to the city and back take BUS 70 or 660. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

My husband and I booked the Mavida for a Christmas getaway and stayed from the 23rd to 28th December.
The hotel itself is fabulous. Modern yet homely and just a really classy and gorgeous place. It’s located in Schuttdorf which is roughly 2km from Zell am See. You can walk into Zell am See along the lake which is stunning - took about 20-25 minutes. If you are there to ski, you can walk to the ski lifts (the Areit Express on the piste map) in just under 10 mins in your ski gear and then it’s 10 mins to the top.

Breakfast was fantastic - cold and hot options, lovely coffee and selection of teas. You couldn’t be catered for better.

The staff were all lovely and really made us feel welcome. Nothing was any trouble and we felt so comfortable.

We had a basic room with a balcony which had a very comfy, large bed (bigger than a king), open plan sink and bath behind the bed, toilet and shower. It was perfect for us and plenty of room to hang and store clothes. Very clean and there was a lovely selection of Austrian treats each day as well as fresh water.

The spa and wellness centre is amazing. Heated water beds by the indoor pool, saunas, steam room, a relaxation room and plenty of treatments. Treatments aren’t included, but the rest is. We definitely relaxed!!

The only downside was that the restaurant was closed for the majority of our visit. We ate on Xmas eve (set menu) but it was closed Xmas day, Boxing Day and on the 27th (a normal working day). There is bar food from 3pm (although Boxing Day was 5pm) but that’s limited. As a lot of local places were closed over the holiday period, this made finding somewhere to eat difficult on a couple of occasions - especially at lunchtime. We had to head into Zell Am See to find lunch.

Apart from that, I’d highly recommend this hotel. It’s not a family hotel, much more for adults but their sister hotel (Kinder Hotel) is connected.

A great Christmas break!
